So that’s worth it in my book.

    1) the views as you’re going down the inside passage

    2) Does your 3 year old nap? You can sit on the balcony with a blanket as they nap and enjoy the views, a good book and a coffee.

    3) There is only pure night from 11:15-2:45am, so even if the kids go to bed, you can go out and watch for wildlife at dusk.

Welp you convinced me! Yes she does occasionally nap, but with the time change and the activity I'm sure she will need to! That sounds amazing!! Thanks so much!

  2. Hi! My family (myself, husband, 8 year old and 3 year old daughter) are going on an Alaskan cruise in June.  Currently we have an interior family room. As you guys know this cruise isn't cheap. However, for 800 dollars I can upgrade to a balcony. Is it really worth it? I don't mind to spend the money if it really would be that much nicer. Thanks in advance!!!

  3. We are on a Royal Caribbean with an excursion to San Juan. We have a 2 year old and 7 year old. I was considering doing the Pirate Treasure Hunt Family Tour, I didn't know if it was any fun.

It's so limited what you can do with toddlers. We won't have a car seat so that might make it extra limited. Any advice? Thanks in advance!!

  4. Hi! We have a Royal Caribbean excursion to Labadee. I will have my husband and two daughters (7 year old and 2 year old). The two year old is pretty much too young to do anything but go to the the beach. So I was thinking one of us should take the 7 year old to do something fun like the dragon coaster and waterpark or the photo safari. Has anybody else done either of these excursions? Is it worth it?

Also, I figured the other person could take the 2 year old to the beach. Do I need to book the excursion through the cruise ship to do the beach? I didn't know how close in proximity to the cruise ship it is. There were a couple of island getaways you could go to that I saw. We won't have a car seat, so I didn't know if that would make a difference. Thanks so much!!

  5. Welcome to the boards! :D

You might also post your question on the Family cruise board to see what others have done in your situation. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=49

QLS, MJS, Go Airport and SAS are FLL based shuttle services - I would check with them. The cruise line transfer bus is another option that will not require a car seat.

Have you looked at some of the travel car seats/booster seats available from Target, Amazon and others?

The airline will check your seat for free if you choose not to use it on the flight; bringing your own seat ensures that it is properly sized and maintained. Without a seat you will be VERY limited on excursions at your port stops.

Please report back and let us know what option you used and how your cruise was. Good luck!

Thanks! I think I just assumed that they bus you to the ship excursions and you wouldn't need a carseat on the excursion port. Not that there's a ton we can do, because she is so little. Thanks for the reminder!

  6. Hi! I'm new here! This will be my 3rd cruise, but my husband and daughters (2 and 7) first cruise. We are flying into Fort Lauderdale and going on a Royal Caribbean Harmony of the Sea's cruise out of Port Everglades. We are flying in the day of the departure (on a non-stop flight) at about 950 AM and the ship leaves at 4 or 430. We were not planning on bringing her carseat, because it's GIANT. So I was looking at shuttle services. A lot of them say they won't take kids without a carseat (understandable). I've received quotes from many private car services and the price is around $90 one way to include a carseat. It seems there isn't Uber family in that area either. Does anybody know of any shared services that include carseats in that area or a shuttle bus? Just making sure I'm not missing anything! Thanks!!
