  1. A little over a year ago our son bought us a gift card for my birthday to use on an upcoming cruise. I had told him in passing that we had bought Carnival stock so he bought us a $150.00 Carnival gift card.

Needless to say the Princess people told us we were completely out of luck, Carnival said seeing as we had aa gift card maybe we should switch cruise lines. I decided to write to the grand pobah of Carnival who did not have the common courtesy to respond to my letter or subsequent e-mails. I then decided to try Jan CEO of Princess. In this case she had one of her minions call me to tell me I was completely ______ of luck!

Superb customer service on both parts, especially the complete ignorance of Arnold Donald. At least Jan dispatched one of "her little people" to dismiss me.

Gives you a nice warm feeling about customer responsiveness!!!!

  2. I truly appreciate all the help, in summary we have two separate cruises, Nov 20 - 30/19 on the Caribbean Princess for the Panama Canal and then an Inaugural Cruise on the Sky Princess Dec 1-4/19. Two separate and distinct cruises.

I had the first cruise all loaded (after lots of work), when I added the second reservation number it said either invalid or linked to another cruise. Ocean Medallion now shows one cruise from Nov 20 to Dec 4/19.

Truly it is enough to tick off the Good Humor Man!!!!

  3. Daniel and Jondfk, thanks so much. Yes we are on Caribbean Princess Nov 20 to 30 and then got an e-mail from our TA about the inaugural cruise of the Sky Princess from Dec 1 - 4 and grabbed that, so yes we leave one ship and then come back the next day and board the new ship. Again any assistance would be great, I would like to avail ourselves of expedited boarding etc.

  4. Many thanks. I don't think I am Android I have an Apple phone. Anyway I went to My Journey and then realized I could scroll down and Add A Reservation showed up. I clicked and put in the new number. It then said I had put in an invalid number or one that had already been linked. I messed around a little and it now shows a cruise from Nov 20 to Dec 4 when in actual fact there are two cruises, Nov 20 to 30 and Dec 1 to 4.

This technology stuff is going to drive me completely nuts.

Any more assistance would be appreciated!!!!

  5. I know there have been endless posts around the whole Ocean Techie thing, however I have a simple (I think) question. Our TA contacted us yesterday and we jumped at the cruise. It leaves the day after we get back from another cruise. I finally have the first cruise all loaded up (or at least I think I do) however I can't seem to find any way to add the second cruise. Any of you folks who can help out an old tech illiterate type I would truly appreciate the assistance!!!

  6. I have only used the showers in the steam area once and old age prevents me from remembering if there were soap and shampoo dispensers!!

We will be on the Star Princess (Alaska Inside Passage) next week and wondering if I have to pack that stuff.

Again many thanks to all the learned cruisers on this board.

  7. We were also on that 14 day cruise and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We loved the new layout of the Fresh market, my wife enjoyed the noodle station almost daily and I took full advantage of the custom omelet station as well as cooked to order eggs (including great poached eggs).

Also have to echo OP's comments on dining for two, we had the same experience and like the OP it was totally different from the frustration of the last two cruises.

    Bottom line, well done Princess!!!

  8. Kathy and I had it and both of us enjoyed it, however food issues are very subjective. My wife was torn between the beef and the duck, we asked our waiter if he knew if duck would re-appear, he indicated he wasn't sure. Bless his heart when our meals came he added an order of duck just to make sure we experienced the flavor. The whole dinner was excellent.

  9. Honestly I tried to do a search and did not get anywhere.

    Three questions are

    1) We just signed up for a 14 day cruise. On a 7 we usually take 4 bottles of wine. Could we take 6 or 8 on the 14 day cruise?

    2) Can we take water or pop on board?

    3) If we go on a shore excursion and bring wine back can we pay the corkage and consume onboard?

As always thanks to all in advance who can assist!!

  10. Two scenarios:

    A) I am at a bar and order a glass of wine, we then are joined by another couple and decide to proceed to MDR. Can I carry the glass of wine in???

    b) I bring wine onboard, pay the corkage and decide I want to take a glass to the MDR. Is this permissible?

As usual thanks in advance for any assistance with this!

  11. My wife, daughter, son-in-law and I are off tomorrow on the Regal Princess for a seven day Western Caribbean cruise. We are all very much looking forward being back on Princess.

However I would be remiss if I did not give a big shout out to Cruisecritic for hosting this thread and to all of you for your absolute depth and breadth of knowledge.

I only discovered this thread a couple of weeks ago and due to the info I picked up we now have $200.00 additional On Board Credits!!!!

So again our thanks to you!!!

  12. Pls help me out. I have read a few posts and am a little confused. We are off on a cruise next week. We had each put a $100.00 FCD on our last cruise so on this cruise we each have $50.00 OBC. It was my plan to put down $200.00 each this time and therefore receive $100.00 each OBC on our next cruise. However something I read seemed to suggest we would only receive $50.00 OBC each regardless of the amount of FCD.

Again I look forward to the knowledge of the members here and thank you!!

  13. To all of you who posted, thank you so much. I now feel like I have a pretty good sense of what to expect on the excursion. As I type I have what I hope is a waterproof plastic holder with a piece of paper in it submerged in a sink full of water. We do have the rubber soled water shoes and will heed the other good advice posted. Thanks again!!!

  14. My wife and I will be on the Regal Feb 25 out of FLL. We have signed up for the Dunn's River Falls excursion. My questions are, do we take bathing suits, is there somewhere to change or do we wear them. Secondly will there be somewhere secure to store personal and ship ID that we have to carry????

I have only recently found this forum and have been really impressed with all the great information from experienced cruisers (which we obviously are not!!). Any info would be greatly appreciated.

  15. To all of you who responded to my question on "beef chop" thank you so much. I am so glad I recently discovered the Princess thread and the roll call. Both have been very helpful and indeed my wife and I got $100.00 OBC credit each because of what I learned here!!!
