  1. Reading through this thread and have to let you know of a tour we took. Renae guides snorkeling trips in her minivan. Very small groups and when we went, just my wife and me on the trip. She pointed out things I never would have seen. It was awesome. Finished at a resort where we let Renae leave us. Paid the $10 guest fee and snorkeled all afternoon on our own.

  2. Just off the Eclipse on a 14 day. Filled a bag with shorts, swimsuits, socks, and underwear and we are select members in Captains club. Was supposed to be $20 but was actually $16 when billed. Not sure why we received some additional discount but was good with us.

  3. After you receive your survey, please come back and report if the survey includes a section related to the pool area. You can also create a comment card during the cruise.

IMO removing the standard gratuities is a terrible idea and I could never support such a cruel action. After all it is very clear that this particular issue is with Celebrity management and policy and almost all of the gratuities go to hard working individuals. Some you never see.

In general a written comment/complaint during the cruise is the most effective to recognize excellent staff and areas for improvement.

Please, let’s not turn this into another tipping thread.

The survey does not address pool service. It was one of a few things I was disappointed in getting off the Eclipse this morning. My wife and I enjoy the double loungers around the pool. It does frustrate me to look at the 12 of them and see two in use and 10 with stuff on them. I questioned our cruise director Eddy about enforcing rules and he said the confrontations with passengers was not something they wanted. He suggested I sun in the grass on the upper deck. This did not please me. My solution was to immediately find the pool area person in charge and tell him what kind of seats I wanted and where. He would scramble and make it happen. He occasionally would move and add seats for us.

  4. Just off the Eclipse this morning. The first day they do get good commissions for upgrading your drink package and sell hard. We did not upgrade and spent less than $20 on drink overages so glad we did not upgrade. It completely depends on how/what you drink. If you are just ordering cocktails at shows, pool, dinner, etc., I would not upgrade. If you want to sit in the martini bar, world class bar, etc. and sip single malt scotch, then an upgrade would be beneficial.

  5. I am on the Eclipse now and did not upgrade. I have had cocktail at many of the bars but they were “standard” drinks. Martinis, whisky sours, frozen drinks, dark and stormy, Pimms cup, mojito, etc. tried many. We have one martini from the martini bar and a few drinks from another nice bar with the large beer selection. So far, I have spent $4 extra. It depends on the person and what you drink. If you just ask for a Mai Tai, Daquari, Dos Equis, etc by the pool or from dinner waiter , no problem. If you want to hang in the Martini bar, wine bar, or sip nice whiskey, then the upgrade would be worthwhile. I have not been liquor specific with my orders and I have been happy.

  6. I opened your link. For years Michael's Club was essentially a piano bar type venue. Then around 2012 (or so) there was a brief attempt to transform Michael's Club into a craft beer venue. When I looked at the MC menus those are the menus from the craft beer attempt. That craft beer idea didn't last very long. My husband is a fan of craft beer, and I remember while on a B2B on the Infinity in 2012 we would go to MC, DH would order a beer, and the bartender would have to tell him that that beer wasn't in stock. It was a year or two later when MC was then again transformed into its current use as a private club/retreat for suite guests, Zeniths and certain members of the Blue Chip club. We have access to MC, and there are no longer any drink menus of any type. And for those who have access to MC there are no charges for any beverages.

Thanks for the info. I hate that I like bourbon and the Classic selection is so poor. The vodka selection has some good choices my wife will like but it sounds like our package will not cover her to order a martini from the martini bar. Will see how it goes the first day or two and upgrade if needed.

  7. Drink package question. I have the middle tier Classic drink package. This sounded fine for me as it covers drinks up to $9 which covers 99% of what I would want. I like good bourbon but do not have the palette to appreciate the very high end stuff. I typically mix most anyway which I would never do with top shelf liquor. Last night I was doing some research trying to find out what was included such as the coffee bar and such and found a list of liquor included. I was very surprised it only included one Bourbon choice. I had quite a bit of Beam in college and am not opposed to it but surprised it is the mid tier option. I can only imagine what the standard package includes. Several Scotch and Canadian blend selections but generally not a fan of them. I am satisfied with the options in other categories but disappointed in the Whiskey one. Will be trying some/all of the options over the vacation but was wondering if anyone knows how you are billed if you select a bourbon from the Premium tier? Classic Whiskey is

If I order a Jack and coke which is on the premium list, it is likely or should be less than the $9 limit. If it is over then the pricing structure of drinks is too high. I guess I will have to ask this weekend.
