  1. Please keep an eye on the Baltic thread, since the port authorities have announced that starting in 2018, they will allow passengers on ship tours off first in St. Petersburg on the first day, and passengers on independent tours will need to wait to depart. We have theorized that private tour passengers won't actually lose any time overall, but will just start later and end later. But honestly no one knows exactly how this will work, and we are waiting for the first cruises to sail this season to see what will happen.

Interesting! I'm on the May 11 cruise and booked St Petersburg tour through Alla.

  2. !

It’s entirely possible that the studios are sold out because they’ve sold the rest as guarantees and haven’t assigned you yet. But the other alternative is also a possibility and I would not expect a balcony.

If you are talking about the Upgrade Advantage Program, being in a Studio does NOT qualify for the program.

I think you're misreading me. I'm not expecting a balcony, don't want a balcony and wasn't trying to be in any program.

  3. As Deb said, I wanted access to the Studio Lounge and just to try it the Studio rooms. Sure, if I got upgraded to a Balcony, that would be great! But I doubt that happens and I wouldn't consider a standard interior room an "upgrade". I guess I'll give them a call and see what happens.

  4. I've never sailed in Norwegian before and since I'm traveling solo, I wanted to try the studio cabin.

Now under the NCL account is says "Stateroom: Studio Stateroom GTY, Category T1"

I did not purposely pick that option... After reading on here, some people get upgrades? I'd rather just have the Studio. NCL website now shows the Studios are sold out for my cruise date. Is it possible I didn't get one?

  5. What trip are you taking in May? I was looking at an inexpensive RC cruise in May, which should still be an okay time.... but I really would like to try NCL.

I was going to send you a private message to not clutter the thread more, but couldn't.

I'm looking into either may 11 or May 20, 9 day Baltic cruise on NCL.

  6. I've been in more cruises than I can count, but always with family or friends. I do prefer to travel alone now though. I'm 32. I've recently been to Iceland and Netherlands alone and enjoyed it. But I do worry about going on a cruise solo and about not many people being solo my age.

  7. Thanks for the post, I'm the reverse actually. I'm 90% convinced myself to book a solo studio Baltic cruise. I'm a male aged 32 and worried there would be no people my age.. I prefer to travel alone but it's always an adventure to meet new groups of people. But I worried I'd be the youngest there.. I guess after reading this, maybe not.

  8. We were able to order Icelandic krona from our bank before we went to Iceland. Exchange rate is hard to convert in your head. About 1 krona for 0.0098 USD.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

When I went last year, I just went in an Icelandic bank and they exchanged it no problem. May not have been the best rate, but I enjoyed it.

    Yep. Rough estimates.

    2000 Krona = ~$20.00

    200 Krona = ~$2.00
