  1. Hi all,

I need some guidance in the area of excursions. My boyfriend and I are taking our first cruise in December. Our stops are Port Canaveral, Nassau, and Cococay. I guess I have questions about all three but any advice is appreciated!

Port Canaveral: We are Disney World regulars so we are looking to do something a little different. We're thinking Kennedy Space Center but we're confused about the variety of tour options. Any insight on this? We are in Port Canaveral on January 1st. Historically, is that excursion an option for that day?

Nassau: The activities that strike our interest are snorkeling, jet skiing, a historic tour of the area, and visiting the straw market. Realistically, could we do a combination of a couple of those activities within a day? Any suggestions on excursions to book for just two people? Is there a beach we can snorkel from if we bring our own gear or do you need to take a boat to go to snorkel locations? Is the December/January timeframe even an okay time to snorkel or should we be looking at more land-based activities given that it won't be super super hot then?

Cococay: We are thinking of renting a beach bed. Is this a good way to spend a day here? Can we snorkel from the same beach where the daybeds are located? Any alternate suggestions?

We are very new to this so any information is appreciated! Thank you!

  2. Thank you for all the information!

I am still a little confused about specialty dining. Can I pre-pay for the ability to eat at any specialty restaurant for any (or all) meals during the cruise? Or am I limited to pre-purchasing a package for a maximum of three meals? That's the biggest package that I saw on the website.

  3. As a first-time cruiser I am confused by the dining options. My boyfriend and I will be sailing on Anthem of the Seas.

I see that there are four main restaurants and it is my understanding that those four make up the main dining room. Are those available for cruisers who are not doing the traditional dining which requires eating at the same time each night? If so, can non-traditional diners only eat there in between the traditional dining times? Can anyone tell me the hours for these restaurants?

On a different note, we are considering a dining package because we do enjoy some specialty dining. This is confusing to me as well. Can we pay a set price and eat at any of the specialty restaurants over the course of our trip? Or are we limited to paying in advance for one, two, or a maximum of three specialty meals as part of a dining package? That is the impression that I am getting from the Royal Caribbean website, but I could be wrong!

    Thank you!

  4. Hello!

My boyfriend and I are in the process of planning our first cruise but we're hoping to get a little more information before we book. We are planning to cruise on Anthem of the Seas in late December or early January.

Right now we have it narrowed down to two options which cost the same - an 8-night cruise to the Bahamas over New Year's Eve or a 12-night cruise to the southern Caribbean in early to mid-January.

Is a holiday cruise a little too busy and intense for first-timers? Is the 12-night cruise too long for a first cruise? What are your thoughts? Any information is appreciated!
