  1. Damn, I wish I had noticed that. We bought the 2 when on our Nov cruise and could have used the two for our May cruise. Oh well, live and learn, but I am getting to old to learn sometimes. :)

Nita, I suppose it is too late for you to apply them now because I think at this point you are past final payment?

    Thanks,

    Fred

  2. After our transatlantic crossing, DH and I are going to be bumming around Spain/Portugal for 3 weeks. With this in mind, I need to bring my immersion coil. Since it is a “fire hazard” I will not use it on board. Will I be allowed to bring it in my luggage? If it is confiscated how do I get it back before getting off the ship in Barcelona?

    Thanks

Please pardon my wicked sense of humor, Linnie........but what are we talking about here? :

    Immersion :)

    Coil:D

    Fire;)

    lol....lol...lol......

I know you are talking about an immersion coil water heater which as you well know is a big NO NO on cruiseships.

If they find it, they will "confiscate" and in all probability Security will hold it for you until the end of the cruise.

Just make sure that it is rated 220v/240v because if it is just rated for 110v/120v....it will be toast the very first time you will try to use it Spain/Portugal and I guess most other countries in Europe, if not all of Europe.

    Thanks,

    Fred

  3. Who was that? With one exception I have always had stellar service from them.

    Her name was Michelle!

By the end of Day 2 of the cruise out of LA, a ship's officer had confided in me that she had already logged close to 90 complaints against her by passengers. She told a passenger we had teamed up with for trivia that she couldn't wait o get back to LA to quit her job so that she doesn't "have to deal with people like you!"

I was actually surprised that Princess waited till we got to Tahiti to let her go, I surely thought she would have

been let go as soon as we made landfall in Hawaii.

In 52 cruises, I have never seen anything this like taking place.

  4. Me too. :D

If I have a question as to what fare I booked under, I can always call my PVP. However, If she is not readily available, I go to Carnival's web site and go to Manage My Cruise. (Currently have 6 booked.) I pull up the applicable cruise Booking Number and then scroll down to the section titled IMPORTANT NOTES. Then scroll down to Guest Notes. If you booked Early Saver, you will find a sentence in one of the notes that reads "Early Saver terms and conditions (T&C) apply."

Hope this helps. What hair I have left is grey.

If that is the case, you're ONE UP on me in that respect. lol lol lol :D;);p

  5. If they are charging you $75 to get off the ship in most ports they are ripping you off.

If they are charging you $75 to get off the ship in some ports they are giving you a great deal.

    Depends on the port.

    I think it is CUBA?!?!

  6. Just spoke with NCL the $75 visa is only in conjunction with a shore excursion. If you get a "regular" visa then you can get off the ship on your own. Looks like a regular visa may be $139

Is it true that you can't get off the ship with a $75 visa unless you are on a ship's excursion?

    CUBA cruise?

  7. I submitted a price match two days ago. When I hadn’t heard back by the end of the day, I was screen-shotting like a mad man. I still haven’t heard back, but I’m prepared if they wait until the next price hike.

    TWO THUMBS UP, Pops. (y)(y)

Be prepared to stand your ground with them, like I said, they attempted to shy away from honoring their own Low Price Guarantee but I stood my ground and when they gave me the "we can only go back 48 hours" bs, that is when I 'confronted' them with the proof that a screenshot provides. And don't forget that they have to give you an additional 10% of the price difference as obc as well.

Good luck to you buddy and let me know how things work out for you.

    Thanks,

    Fred.

  8. How does the cruisenext cert work? I made a deposit today for the gem in November. My brother is sailing on The Breakaway this Sunday. Maybe it's worth seeing if he can get one for me.

    Hi Daniela,

Your brother can get you 1x CruiseNext certificate with a face value of $250 from onboard the Breakaway for $150 (NOT $125 as quoted by elizabeth89). CruiseNext certificates are an accepted form of payment for NCL cruises, in this case you would knock off $250 off the total cost of your cruise for an effective cost to you of only $150.

If you need any more info, by all means please feel free to email me, I am always happy to share.

    Thanks,

    Fred

  9. Acapulco is a great port-of-call.

We have stopped there numerous times, even during the current not-so-pleasant situation.

It is an easy uphill walk to go see the cliff divers, it makes for a beautiful coastal walk

down the other side of the viewing area, back to the ship.

And you can walk on the beach all the way to the far end of Acapulco Bay, I should actually

say just short of the far end, because that part there is a military installation.

Beautiful setting! Pity that fabulous city has gone to the dogs.

In my younger days, the celebrity "jet-setters" used to go there!

    Thanks,

    Fred

  10. Not exactly price protection but re Carnival's 110% Low Price Guarantee within 48 hours of booking:

On our Imagination cruise last month, we booked the cruise last-minute directly with Carnival.

The following day they reduced the reduced fare, same cabin category, even further, so I then

submitted their online form to request the 110% Low Price guarantee.

By the time they got around to process my request, the price had gone up again and they wrote

back with some BS of an excuse that the low price I was referring to was no longer available.

I told them "Tell you what, go back in your system to the day I booked the cruise and then check

what the same exact cabin category price was on your very own website 24 hours later, furthermore,

if you processed my request in a timely manner, NOT a week after I submitted it, chances are we would

not be having this conversation". They had the gall to tell me they can only go back in their system

48 hours and I called their BS and pulled my ace card from my sleeve....."OK, I said, how about if I

provide you with a screenshot of the lower price?"

30 MINUTES LATER I HAD MY FARE PRICE-MATCHED 100% TO THE LOWER PRICE

    PLUS AN ADDITIONAL 10%.

Both the price difference and the extra 10% were processed as an onboard credit. It is a bummer that

they put you through the wringer to get them to honor what they prominently promise in writing both

in their marketing emails and on their website.

    Thanks,

    Fred

  11. Thanks. I've read that several times and I can't quite figure it out as far out as I am. Is the greater than 120 days only applicable if I had a Suite or Concierge level? It was a New Year's cruise, but it wasn't specifically called out as a "Holiday Cruise" on their site. I'm not at the Suite level, so those numbers in the chart only start at 119 days. It's why I posted here, hoping someone would be more familiar with the language than me. It was supposed to be our first cruise.

No, I think the NO CANCELLATION CHARGE that far out is across the board, actually.

If I am wrong, I am sure someone WILL correct me.....lol....lol

Just scroll down and you'll see the various cabin categories....it is a very loooooooooong page! :D

    Fred.

  12. The question for the OP is what value you would pay for a no wait anytime dining. I dislike the location of the CC mini's because I like deck 8 fully covered private balconies. Last month I sailed in a suite so didn't pay extra for club class dining. I would make the cut in price at about $25 per person per day because at that price point I could use the different specialty restaurants and not have the banquet style main dining room food.

    Hey Cruzsnooze,

Nice to see you here again.

    Fred

  13. We also loved it - much less crowded, no waiting for a table for us (though I have read of a few rare exceptions), excellent service, very friendly atmosphere. The extra cost (which also gets you a prime mid-ship cabin location) is well worth it for us. Use the "Search" feature at the top right of the Celebrity board page and you'll see multiple recent threads on the topic.

    Celebrity????;);)

  14. It has been my experience that the Future Cruise Consultants think they are doing us a REAL BIG FAVOR. 'Customer Service' never enters their mind.

You should see some of the onboard Captain's Circle hosts they have.

On our Nov 2016 LA-Hawaii-South Pacific 28-day cruise, the onboard CC hostess was so bad, they let

her off the ship in Papeete and for the rest of the cruise the FCC filled in for her.
