  1. We’ve really had no issues with any of the cruise lines. I will not go to Jamaica though I’m told men potentially can have….more negative experiences than women. (Yes I’m Jamaican.)

We really enjoy Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Seattle and Sydney and find them quite welcoming.

I know the Dawn and the really freaking expensive suites on the Prima have two bedrooms. What other ships offer a second bedroom in the higher-end suites? We sometimes have a friend that cruises with us and when we do, we want her to have her own space. We've stayed mainly in 2-bedroom suites, but did do the DOS on the Dawn that worked for us.

I'm looking at cruises for 2023 and would like some guidance on which ships have 2-bedroom suites besides the aptly named 2-bedroom suites (and the Garden Villas). 😁

    Thanks!

Off the top of my head....all NCL ships have a 2 bedroom option that are called 2 bedrooms. Not all....read the 'smaller ships'..e.g. Star..Dawn.... may not have a dedicated 'Haven', but all the 2 bedrooms that are not in Haven...have 'suite' privileges.

No free drinks at the Haven Bar?  But I have a drink package.  I'm not sure I understand.

Typically....the drink package includes glasses of beverage, not cans/bottles. There have been occasions where I have gotten an entire can/bottle of soda/beer. That however has not been the norm.

  4. Can't really speak to RCCL.....our first in many moons isn't until 2020.........spousal unit wants to try a 'mega' ship.

What I love about NCL ........we get to eat when we want....where we want.....at a table for 2...unless it's Teppanyaki...even if there are just 4 tops available. Formal wear is entirely optional and you don't feel out of place if you do....or don't. The Waterfront adds another level and the Penthouse cabin in the Haven is on another level in terms of service and amenities. Get the Spa Thermal suite pass.....

The downside to NCL is they will try to nickel and dime you to death.....ignore the various attempts. If the traditional cruise experience is what you're looking for.....formal nights.....traditional dining....NCL may not be the experience for you.  As a checkerboard couple I've not experienced anything negative and are leaving on our 17th NCL cruise in 5 days. Either way....Congrats.....Good luck and ENJOY !!

Completely aware of the Star's configuration, but it has 4 diesel engines driving generators, and two Azipod motors (electric), as well as the 3 thruster motors.  In the maritime world there is a major difference between "engine" and "motor".

And, someone onboard, who is posting on the other thread, has stated the problem is with one of the diesel engines.

Mea Culpa......no slight intended. Just trying to say for those of us not fully versed on the technical naval lingo.....until/unless NCL ever says what the issue is/was..........all we can do is speculate.

Where are you reading that the engine is not repairable on the ship?  Unless the engine has completely exploded and sent a connecting rod out the side (and even then I've had onboard repairs done), everything can be repaired onboard.  In the "Star misses Dubrovnik" thread are my comments about engine overhauls and the likely scenario that happened.  Yes, the ship could to a TA without one diesel engine, as she has four, and very likely has been sailing for weeks with only 3 operable, if one was down for scheduled overhaul.

    Points of clarification.

NCL Star has 4 generators and 2 Azipod 'engines'....3 bow thrusters. Truth is we really don't know where the specific....if just one...problem is/are.

1st time NCL cruiser.  Booked on NCL Jewel from Seward to Vancouver - June 2020.   Have a Haven 2 bedroom suite.  Somehow I missed the detail that Jewel class ships do not have a private restaurant or private bar.

     - I've read somewhere that instead of a private restaurant, "Jewel" Haven guests have the option to eat breakfast and lunch in one of the restaurants not open to other ship guests.    Is this correct ?

     - Is the food served in the Haven restaurant or the Jewel alternative better in some way that other restaurants on the ship?

    - for Dinner (in the absence of a private restaurant) does NCL offer anything special for Jewel class Haven guests?

Breakfast and lunch will either be in Moderno (usual) or Cagney's.....nothing I can recall for 'special' dinner.

As far as Haven Restaurant vs any of the speciality restaurants.....really subjective.......I tend to find the 'Haven' restaurants, on ships with one, good for a couple of dinners.....and the food is good....but the menu doesn't seem to change.

    Hope that helps.
