People trying to take advantage of the situation and get offers from the cruise line for a cancel, because most people know they won’t be sailing that soon. It’s a smart move to take advantage of it, but need to understand that your money could be tied up for a long time.

Anyone trying "to take advantage of the situation" the cruise industry is in also stands to lose all of there money. Many of these cruise lines are hanging on by a thread right now and are very close to insolvency. I wouldn't book a cruise now with 75% discount.

  2. I just checked my VISA and happy to report that both my down payment and final payments were credited back to my card, oddly the date of these transactions shows as 19 May?. They aren't in the "pending" column they are in "transactions" and the balance has been changed. **Note** we are Canadians that booked through the US site (we lost $30 on the exchange conversion but we can live with that). On another note I called Delta Airlines Wed to request a full refund for our flights instead of Ecredits and Bam the money was refunded the next day.

Where do you get the idea that MSC is a nonprofit charitable organization?

What are you talking about, it'spretty simple MSC has decided not to pay some it's employees. I never said the were "a nonprofit charitable organization?"

For all waiting for MSC refunds..... I was on the first cruise affected by COVID-19, the Meraviglia that sailed on 2/23/2020. The original 'coronacruise" that was turned away from all ports except Cozumel where we sat and waited 16 hours for clearance.

I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED A REFUND. It's been a month and a week and still nothing. I have called 3 times and emailed more times than I can count, and get nothing but the runaround every time. I'm reading on here of people who have already been refunded for cruises they never even got to go on, yet here I am, one of the first and most affected and have gotten Z E R O money back or any help at all. Seriously considering getting legal representation at this point.

Our first MSC cruise on the Divina was awful, and we swore we'd never go again. Cold food, terrible service, a rude room steward who never spoke to us, a much less took time to learn our names, a store employee who referred to us as cheap Americans. When MSC practically begged us for a second chance, we caved and booked this cruise, and this is the thanks we get. NEVER AGAIN. NEVER EVER IN THE HISTORY OF EVER WILL I STEP FOOT ON AN MSC SHIP AGAIN. E V E R.

Anyone else onboard having the same issue with these refunds? I'm looking for others who may want to join the fight. This is ridiculous.

They are not paying their employees now so that is not good.

Are you a travel agent?   My feeling aren’t hurt, just don’t like seeing people put more fear into others.  Not attacking just pointing out the fact it was your opinion backed by zero facts.

What does it matter if I am a travel agent? That is none of your business, like I said I am not, nor have I solicited any business on Cruise Critic, there are many travel agents on here. Are you an admin? why are you so upset about the fact that I mentioned there will be no cruises through the summer? This isn't a fear tactic, it's simply my opinion. If people get scared or frustrated with that they can move on to the next post. Free speech, move on.

  6. First off all I never solicited business here, I simply mentioned the advantages of having a TA. Secondly, too bad if I hurt your feelings by stating my opinion (which is allowed here by the way) about ships not sailing through the summer. Calling someone a liar because they said ships won't sail through the summer, really?? Time for you to grow up and stop attacking people on an open forum. Like I said enjoy your cruises.

Says the travel agent who’s trolling all the cruise websites. Go back to carnival

How do you know I was on a Carnival site? looks like we might have a cruise critic stalker on our hands folks.  😂

Does anyone have any insight on how long it will take to receive the FCC? I submitted the request today and have seen some info saying 14 days from submittal and some still saying 14 days after your sail date. We were on an April 25th sailing and would like to quickly rebook an early May sailing. Obviously that would be very difficult to do if I have to wait until 14 days past April 25th to try to rebook...

You won't be sailing anywhere in April this is going to last through the summer

Yes, we booked on line. I found the Cruise Manager, but couldn't find an option to cancel. Where are these posts? Thanks for your reply.

If you used a travel agent, you wouldn't have paid an extra nickle and that person would be doing all of this for you now.

And so many people were so critical blasting how terrible MSC was and how they are greedy and etc. They just offered IMO, one of the best responses in the industry to this crisis with an option for full refund and not just a future cruise credit. Well done MSC!!!!

Perhaps this announcement is part in parcel to the feedback they have been getting?

It was an offer to bid for an upgrade.  $230pp was the opening offer, and not guaranteed.

Cruise prices and conditions change all the time (though if you want to upgrade a current booking the price will be the one that applied when you made the booking), and given you are cancelling I'm confused about the anger.

The fact that we have chosen to cancel has nothing to do with what transpired almost 3 weeks ago. We were given a price of $1800 instead of $1500, where did they even get that price? it's not on the website anywhere. My beef is with the fact they chose greed over loyalty. We have been cruising for a long time and have upgraded with other lines and never experienced this.

The OP needs to get a grip on reality, has he read what's happening in the real world with Trump making all sorts of stupid announcements.

who cares if you cancel or not!!!

You need to read the post again. My issue was well before all this hysteria. I totally understand the significance of this COVID 19 situation. People are lashing out at me because I appear uncaring or unsympathetic. Not the case at all people just read what they want to from these posts. The issue is greed from MSC and not reciprocating loyalty plain and simple. By the way, my post had nothing to do with cancelling??? But glad you could vent about Trump.

All things considered, given where things have gone globally over the past 24 hours, it seems pretty misguided to be this upset over an auto-generated email that uses a built-in algorithm to set upgrade offers.  First of all, the fact it's so cheap now is that the class you want to upgrade to is probably empty based on cancellations.  Secondly, with the US restrictions on European travel combined with the lockdown in Italy, it's highly unlikely that MSC continues sailings after this week, and will likely park it's fleet.  We were operating in a whole different world 14 days ago, and literally everything has changed.

So yeah, to be so upset that you're lashing out at the line at this time seems highly misguided right now

What has happened in the last 2 weeks is irrelevant to my post. I called to upgrade well before all of this hysteria and news. At that time online they only showed 4 Balcony cabins available. It's simple, they made a choice to hold on to those cabins hoping for a higher profit margin rather than upgrading their loyal customers at a smaller profit while freeing up another cabin. I am sympathetic to the situation they are in but, I don't consider my thoughts and actions "misguided" at all. Remember I was talking with an actual MSC agent, I explained the situation clearly, there were no auto generated algorithms involved.  We were more than willing to fork over more money but MSC chose $ over loyalty (which is give and take) and it is my right to share my opinion in this forum.

Was it an upgrade offer for $230pp, or was it a chance to bid for an upgrade starting at $230pp? These are two very different things.

Just got an upgrade offer today not an  chance to uprade with a bid. it was an offer for $230pp which would have gladly paid in the first place.

MSC’s policy is to upgrade at the price in effect when you originally booked. As previously stated, upgrade offers are generated and emailed without knowledge to each passengers circumstances prior. To cancel your cruise or not try to bid on an upgrade because you are upset with their policy will not change anything in the future.
if you still want the upgrade, bid. If you want to cancel and go at a later date to that. Either way we will be cruising on MSC at some point. If you want to cancel and go at a later date to that. Either way we will be cruising on MSC at some point.

You are missing the point, it's pure greed. They could have taken $500 and upgraded us but instead tried to bilk us $800. As I mentioned we are loyal customers who have sailed many times.  After refusing to give us the cabin for the new price advertised they have the gall to come back with this offer. I don't care about "auto generated", when you call and talk to them your booking on file is updated. We have will have a credit and we will be sailing at some point, in all likelyhood the last time with MSC

  16. Dear MSC, Two weeks ago when I called to upgrade to a balcony because you had a sale on for $1500, you told me the price would be $1800 for us because we already had a booking. I don't even know where you would have gotten that price from because it sure wasn't anywhere on your website? You expected us to pay an extra $800 😡Now that your cruise line is in trouble, you send us an upgrade offer for $230 pp for a balcony. You need to consider your business practices MSC, we have been loyal customers and you tried to rake us over the coals. We are cancelling our cruise next week and if we weren't getting an FCC we wouldn't be sailing with you again.
