  1. Thank you. I will try to access potential airline flights on HAL's website this morning. If it still doesn't work, I will check with my travel agent.
  2. Hank, thank you for the information. Our cruise is the end of February. We just booked it in the last few days. I am wondering of I should call Flight Ease or my travel agent to get an airline price quote? I am not able to look up flights on Holland America's website when logged into my account.
  3. I logged into my Holland America Account for my booked cruise. I clicked the look up flights, but I can't access this information. Do I need to call Flight Ease or my travel agent? Hoping I might be able to get a better United fare than on the United website. It is a domestic one way post cruise flight. Worth trying? Thanks.
  4. We did receive our future cruise credit posted to our Mariner Accounts. I saw it when I logged in. I had been checking a few times per week. No notice was given to us that we had received it via email, etc. We cancelled our cruise the end of October due to both testing positive for Covid within 5 days of our cruise scheduled for November 5th. We received our credit on approximately December 22nd.
  5. We purchased an annual policy from Geo Blue this year which covers International travel and medical evacuation, if needed. It was very reasonable cost--I believe under $300 to cover both my husband and I for one year. It is good to know it also would cover us on a cruise in International waters. We have not had to use it, but thankful we have it, if needed. A friend told me she buys an Allianz Executive annual travel policy. She did use it when she was hit by a motorcycle out of the country some years ago and said they were easy to deal with and paid all her medical expenses, including surgery and hospitalization. She said they even paid for a family member to fly overseas and stay with her during her hospitalization and to fly home with her. She says it covers her in internationally, on cruise ships and also 50 miles or more from home in the US. Maybe another insurance option to explore.
  6. Has anyone stayed in a larger interior cabin near the elevators which they would not book again due to elevator noise or folks talking by the elevators? If yes, would you please share what deck and cabin number you had? Thanks!
  7. Glad for those of you who got such a great deal! I logged in and don't see any of those rates. I am only a 1 star Mariner. We really enjoyed our NS cruise in 2019. Planning to book another cruise on NS this year. Thanks for sharing your experience booking great cruise deals!
  8. Thanks for the updates. Glad you both got your fcc. We are still waiting for ours since the last week in October. We did get a refund of the taxes and port charges refunded to our credit card right away. Once we decide on a cruise to book, I will call and see if Holland will apply our fcc we are waiting for.
  9. Still waiting for our fcc to show up in our Holland America account. Has anyone received their fcc for having to cancel due to a positive covid test? If yes, how long did it take from cancelling to receiving the fcc? It has been over a month. I thought we would have received it by now. We would like to book a February cruise.
  10. Thank you. I didn't realize that I was within the final payment date.
  11. I am confused about this also. I am considering booking a cruise for February 2023 which states it includes prepaid gratuities and 40% fare discount, but I did a mock booking and don't see the gratuities listed in the fare pricing. It also says $25 deposit eligible, but after where the pricing is listed it only states the options are to pay in full or do a courtesy hold.
  12. We purchased this insurance also with an annual policy. It is called Geo Blue.
  13. I bring granola bars (good to have when in port and you need a quick bite), nuts, and small chocolate bars. My husband is diabetic. We recently sailed on Princess and asked for nuts with our drinks at a bar while listening to a singer. We were told they no longer have them avaailable since covid. I also bring a few Crystal light lemonade packets that I use to mix with water in my water bottle.
  14. We sailed on the NS right before covid shut all the cruises down. We really liked the ship, the food, the service and especially the live entertainment. There was an awesome Rock Room band we listened to every night.. We had a inside cabin and felt it was sufficient for our needs. And, we had a large glassed in shower! We ate in the dining room, Dive in Burgers and the Deli/Pizza location. You can order a whole pizza to take to your room, if you would like to do so. We have mostly sailed on Princess and we liked our NS cruise even better. The only negative, if there is one, is that Princess has great Broadway type shows in the theater. All the Princess singers and dancers were great.
  15. We cancelled our November 5th NS Cruise due to my husband and I both testing positive for covid. We are still waiting for our fcc to appear on our Mariner account. We would like to book a February cruise. I called our travel agent who called HAL and was told the fcc should be posted to our account in a few days. We were told if we wanted to book before our fcc is posted to our account, we would need to pay for it and then request a refund. He did not recommend doing that.
  16. We had to cancel our November 5th NS cruise due to both of us testing positive covid tests within 5 days of sailing. Still waiting for our fcc to appear in our account. We wanted to book a cruise for the end of February. I called our travel agent lzst week who checked with Holland America and they told him the fcc should appear on our HAL Mariner account in a few days. Still waiting. Hoping to book soon. Any update from others that have received their fcc for testing positive for covid pre cruise? How long did it take to receive it?
  17. Zelker, thank you for the information. I will call Holland America to get their best pricing for the cruise we are considering. I didn't realize that you could book directly and then transfer the booking to a travel agent within a certain time.
  18. We are fairly new to sailing with Holland America. This variable pricing seems confusing to me. How do you know if the sailing is eligible for The Mariner early booking discount? We have only sailed once previously with Holland America. We have booked in the past for cruises with Vacations To Go Travel. Should we check with Holland America by calling for their best pricing? Price with Costco? Do you have to be a member to book cruises through Cosco? We are considering the Feb 25th Southern Caribbean 7 day on NS. Thanks for any input/direction.
  19. Thank you for your reply. The rapid NAAT test at Walgreens is what I scheduled. The types of available tests are confusing to me and I didn't want to pick the wrong one to get.
  20. Thank you for sharing your experience with having to cancel due to testing covid positive and that you were advised you will be receiving a future cruise credit. It makes good sense that Holland America does not want folks that test positive prior to embarkation getting on one of their ships with so many other pàssengers. We will be happy to reschedule a cruise when we are able to do so sometime next year.
  21. Has anyone used the Holland America Covid Protection Plan to cancel a cruise within 5 days of embarkation due to a positive covid test? It is my understanding that a future cruise credit will be issued to be used within one year due to this coverage once the proper documentation is received and approved. If yes, what type of covid test did you submit to Holland America for this documentation? For instance, Walgreens, has 3 covid testing options available at the pharmacy: 1. PCR (takes several days to get results back) 2. Rapid NAAT (results within a few hours) and 3. Antibiody (results also same day). I want to make sure to get the proper testing done for this coverage to be effective. I called Holland America and spoke to a customer service representative and she told me it doesn't matter which covid test is done as long as it is observed by a health professional and you receive a written report documenting a positive result. I would appreciate any cruise critic member's experience they may have had with this situation as to which test is acceptable by Holland America. Thanks very much in advance for your help.
  22. We just did anytime dining recently on The Enchanted. We did choose it pre-cruise. In the afternoon when we decided what time we wanted to dine, we went on The Medallion app. to see what dining room reservations were available and chose a dining room and time. That worked well for us--we were seated right away. I know you can just show up at the dining room and wait, but we did not try doing that.
  23. The best meal we had in the dining room in my opinion was the prime rib (on Enchanted) which was served the second to the last cruise night. They did not have much variety on the dinner menu.
  24. I have had luck with asking for a call back when prompted when calling Princess. I have gotten a return call within about 15 minutes two times in the last few months. Better than being on hold.
