  1. I agree. We sailed with our two youngest daughters before they both married, and had a blast! This was before drink packages, and they ran up a $2000 sail and sign bill to my charge card! Lol! But those were wonderful memories. Hoping to get the whole family (5 children with spouses and 14 grandchildren) together for our 50th Anniversary cruise in March 2020.

    Responsible kids.

  2. I would not do it. You need to be at the airport by 9:30 and even doing self alk off and being at the beginning of the line that is a stretch.

Not a stretch at all! I did self walk off (twice) and was curb side before 8 and at the airport before 9am without rushing. I was waiting at the gate for over an hour before we started boarding my 11:15am flight.

OP, that’s a perfect flight. Just make sure you’re in line early to get off the ship.

  3. Actually I have sailed on the Norway, so I have. This is again harsh that people have to deal with 36 hours of 30+ waves, but, for all of you that luv it good for you. I wish all of you the 2+ hours I hope those Azipods still work.

If you can't handle the seas on a cruise from the NORTH DURING WINTER, don't book a cruise from the North! It happens several times each year on cruises from New York. Everyone is 100% safe, despite what all the fear mongers try to tell people.

You're the only one here complaining! Even people onboard the freaking ship haven't even complained. Stick to the land vacations wimp!

  4. There are three different Carnivals (Fantasy class ships, Conquest class ships, and Dream class ships) and one subclass (Vista).

The approach to the MSC Seaside is different depending on what Carnival is yours.

If you come from Fantasy - go with no worries. Don't read reviews - just go.

From the Vista subclass... Well, it's the closest experience - crowds, cheap bells and whistles, hype about nothing really and the first Carnival's attempt to try class segregation - shame.

The most distant category is the Conquest class - a blend of traditional cruising and what Carnival calls "fun" at sea.

The first thing that you need to know is that this ship has a class division .

There is so-called Yacht Club that takes a significant part of the ship (behind the locked gates).

90-95% of the passengers have no acccess to that part. For instance, you won't be allowed to enjoy views forward unless you are in the "first class".

This is insulting. This is not in Carnival tradition so far.

Closed gates are for a cattle farm, not for a cruise ship.

So if you are fine with this, you'll be OK because the rest of the issues are just details.

This cruise line is trying to suck in the least demanding clientele from Carnival, NCL and RCI.

They build huge overcrowded anthills and fill them with cheap wow bells and whistles.

To keep this venues profitable they reduce the size of cabins, serve barely eadible food, save on service and some premium features that don't bring money (like a live orchestra).

The only thing they do better than Carnival is shows. They are more entertaining and colorful from the first glance (the cruise will be over before you'll probably discover the "secret" of their shows).

Well, another thing that is better on the Seaside (vs Carnival) - the pools (at least when the crowds go ashore). Pools on the newest Carnival ships are the worst at sea, just awful.

    So...

If you are ready to set you requirements to the minimum, don't mind to be treated like a third class person, care less about food, love glitzy bells and whistles, fond of various "technologically advanced" garbage that supplies for a real product, want to save a few bucks - you have a green light to set sail on MSC Seaside.

Will this floating anthill sail full?

    Yes.

    Why?

    Because cruising is a pleasure!

  5. We were on Norwegian out of New York once. Think it was the Breakaway - not sure. Balcony very very small. Barely fit sitting there in chair with knees right up to the glass. Went to Main Dining Room one night - people showing up in sweatpants and trays of dirty dishes on stands next to the dining tables. Not too picky food wise on cruise since I get they are feeding thousands at a time, but the food that night in MDR wasn’t anything to write home about. We never ate in there again. We paid for speciality restaurants each night. We did pay $85 per person to have access to the Haven for the week. Felt that was worth it as we always had a lounge in the sun and a private bar. We did enjoy some of the small entertainment options on Norwegian such as the dueling piano bar and the Jazz Club. Great music each night. Heading out on Oasis two weeks from tomorrow. Can’t wait as this will be our largest ship. Have done 4 prior RC Cruises and loved each and every one of them (2 on Adventure, 1 Freedom, 1 Independence)

You didn’t get access to the Haven for $85 per person for the week. You don’t get access to the Haven unless you’re booked in a Haven cabin and I can guarantee it cost a lot more than $85 per person!
