  1. My limited understanding is that cruisers wanting to share dinner tables must all have the same level of drink package, lest someone, somewhere get a free drink they aren't entitled to.    So even if the reservations are kept separate, if the 4 of you want to have supper together and one of you wants a drink, things might get sticky.    I think exceptions might be made for those in recovery, but I don't know how that would get handled gracefully at the restaurant.

Also wanted to mention we did this trip with carryon only luggage.  No checked bags.  It was difficult packing for warm and cold weather but I managed.  Had to ditch dress up clothing.  It’s pretty freeing to vacation without big luggage. Ncl gave us free laundry for lattitude perk and we took full advantage.  Didn’t need the bag special days.  I think those were around  $20/bag.  Our Latitude Free laundry bags came back day after we turned in both times.  I can’t say it came back with a tide fresh scent or anything but it is the job and I can’t complain.

I wanted to ask more about this....   We are doing a similar (NCL- Greek Islands)cruise this coming September.    Hubby and I are very scent sensitive.    We usually use Tide Free at home-we can't cope with normal or scented Tide.    I was anticipating having to bring detergent and do our own laundry.

So when you say it wasn't "tide fresh" do you mean it was not scented at all, or merely that it didn't smell like it would if you had washed it at home?   Because not having to do it myself would seriously rock!

    Thanks in advance!

The NCL beverage package has very poor choices for wine.  Only the Chardonnay is good.  Also NCL charges the absurd 20% gratuities based on $99 per person per day.

4774Papa I am wondering if you happen to have photos of the wine list, or know where it might be posted?   Or does it change by ship/sailing?    We are going on an NCL Greek Island cruise next Sept, and I have been wondering what would be available!

  4. Hey all!

Our Family of 8 (grand parents, two married adult daughters, one of whom has two boys) just got back from the Wonder.   It was our fourth DCL cruise, but first on the Wonder.   We ended up with 3 sittings at Tiana's place (one of them Pirate night).    We Love the rotational dining concept, and have enjoyed the offerings on Magic and Fantasy.     But Tiana's Place was SO LOUD that we could not talk to one another, and the wait staff had troubles hearing the children when they were ordering.  All the other tables were screaming to be heard, and there is little in there to absorb the sound.

Did we just have an exceptionally bad sound crew this sailing, or is it always crazy loud?   When we complained to guest services they seemed to indicate it was a known problem.      We were particularly irritated to discover (of course AFTER our last dinner there, though we had complained after other meals) that we could have been in Cabanas having table service instead of in the noise.   We had no interest in doing our servers out of tips (our servers were excellent), but we all left with headaches and none of them told us that we could have been somewhere else.   They had to help my 78 year old mother out of the restaurant during the conga line nonsense on Pirate night when she got trapped in it trying to leave. (she had told us to go ahead and save ourselves).

Anyone else have this issue or is it just us?

  5. We were faced with that problem as well.   My Dad went to guest services on arrival and got us into the 2pm (On sail away day) Champagne tasting that we hadn't even considered.     But the rest of the tastings were full, full, full.    We were sailing Wonder out of San Juan to the Southern Caribbean.   I have never seen SO many gold and Platnum lanyards on a ship.   No wonder everything was sold out!   (we are only silver and we sign on at midnight etc)

  6. Just got back from Wonder.  There are games in Crown and Fin Pub.    Hubby played with the nephews: Chess, checkers, backgammon, and Catan.    We aren't big scrabble players, so that was not one they looked for.

Both Crown and Fin and the French quarter lounge are used for Disney organized games and activities (trivia, origami folding etc) during sea days, and you may have to plan around those things to get your game on.    Much fewer things are scheduled on port days.    If you bring a set with heavy tiles (you wouldn't want them blowing around!) you could play in the cove Cafe area on deck nine.  There are soft couches with "coffee tables" between them, and dining tables.   They are reasonably protected from wind, but things happen!  :-D
