  1. Is it feasible for you to bring both options with? When it comes to medical needs I always over prepare rather than not having something I need. I just confirmed from a picture I took or our accessible room and the light area on the oasis that the padded area/headboard is slightly textured with a “wood” section on both sides where the lights are at. Command strip seems to be the most certain way to ensure you have a feasible option with you. A little couple alcohol swabs will remove any sticky residue.

  2. I would recommend getting a scooter that is gel cell. A lot of cruise scooter users like the go go scooters by pride which is also what the rentals are on ships. You can’t fly with acid batteries either so it is better to get one with gel that you can take anywhere your future adventures take you. It is also my understanding most go go scooters break down to some extent allowing easier transportation.

  3. If you need your scooter to go distances due to your hip you are likely going to need it to embark. Those ramps are long and steep. They have a special area to go to board when you use mobility devices. I am paralyzed so my perception may be different but I don’t give up my chair unless I do not have an option. Too many risks of not getting it back or damage from well intended but yet unaware handlers.

  4. It is hard work for anyone to push someone up that ramp. As a wheelchair user I would definitely tip someone pushing up and down the boarding ramp. Now for ports, those ramps are much smaller and shorter and they don’t give you an option but to get help due to safety so I don’t feel the need to tip getting on and off at ports.
