If you are doing excursions you should check the descriptions to make sure they don't require closed-toe shoes. When I booked mine, I noticed some carried that caveat. Other than the day at a volcanic spring I have planned, I plan on being in sandals my whole cruise, too. :)

They could have been pictures of anyone who had sailed on those two ships. (But they really were me.)

I think this thread just gave birth to a new black market in photos of random people aboard cruises that have no corresponding digital records. :)

Since several people are giving you a hard time, i just want to thank you for sharing your review. A tour guide who loses people and fails to actually give a guided tour as promised, all while the promised stores are closed or going out of business, is all highly relevant information to people choosing excursions. I'm really glad you posted!

I can imagine your shock at all this. Instead of seeking a cash refund, which sounds like too hard a fight right now and a drain on the energy you need for your husband, you could look into whether you can use the credits to buy a cruise for someone else, who reimburses you personally. Can you find someone like that, maybe another cruise fan you've befriended over the years? You and your husband may benefit from a creative solution here, since RCCL's rules are not set up for this.

That is such a weird response! I have a million questions about why a photo of you on a boat would trump the SeaPass card...Would a photo of you standing on the deck at sunset do - and do they have a team of forensic experts ready to analyze the deck rails to determine if they were contemporaneous to your ship and cruise date? Or would it have to be the official photo of you posing on the gangplank when you boarded? What if you hadn't purchased one of those? Do we all have to start buying those now just so there's a record we were there? It's so bizarre. This is true. But Royal IT dept has made some missteps. About 5 years ago I looked at the "my cruises" page, and found about 30 points missing. I called about it and the "wonderful" representative from Royal worked out most of the missing cruises except for one 11 nighter they told me I wasn't on. My wife had kept the sea passes for souvenirs. I told the representative that I could send them one of them. She said I would need an onboard picture to prove I was on the cruise. That the seapass wouldn't do. She finally transferred me to a supervisor who just took the folio number, looked it up and gave me the points.Sent from my SM-G935V using Forums mobile app

Grant14, can you tell us which method you used to get your resolution? Did you email the RCCI president, tag then in a public tweet, or some other method?

The sale is happening for my upcoming cruise on the Grandeur. DH and I saved $85 for the two of us from our previous $42-per night rate. We'll take it. :) Thank you, OP for mentioning it! I would have missed it!!

Thanks for this....I wasn't actually sure how to do wifi only on my phone until you explained it this way. I'm ready for my first cruise in November now. :)I think the ships internet is the easiest. Put it in airplane mode, turn on wifi, and text that way. I use it for texting but also to conference into work calls (only 2) while I'm away and it works great.Sent from my SM-G935V using Forums mobile app

Ronbe65, that was an amazing lesson in critical thinking and reading. That's how I approach other people's reviews as well.

My husband and i just went to walgreens and got our photos taken, then applied. He applied inperson at the post office because his old one had been issued more than 15 years ago, while I was eligible to send in my original documents and application with two stamps on the envelope. We both got them back in 12 days, with no hiccups. I definitely recommend getting them for the security and versaility you'll have once you get them.

This is what I do when I'm pressured to fill out a survey. I abstain on the grounds that if pressure is being applied, the survey responses aren't likely to be reflective of reality anyway. If no one pressures me, I often do fill them out and give perfect scores by default, with deductions only made if the were unresolved problems or someone made me uncomfortable.I just don't fill it out. No 8s to be unhappy about.Sent from my SM-G935V using Forums mobile app

Hello cruisers! My husband and I will be visiting the Caribbean for the first time this fall (St Croix, St Lucia, St Maarten, Antigua and St Kitts). I have started a small collection of solar powered toys and I'd love to add to it. I have a little plastic elephant that flaps its ears and trunk and a cheerful little crab that waves its claws in the sun. Have you seen items like that for sale on the islands?

My new husband and I
booked the Grandeur later this year for our honeymoon (we got impatient and eloped after making the reservation in February!) It will be our first time cruising, and from what everyone says on Cruise Critic, we picked a great ship to start with!!

My reason for waiting until the last minute is that i booked a non-refundable fare and figure if i end up hospitalized or get laid off before the final payment i want to lose as little money as possible. But because of that, i was also extra careful about not missing the final payment. If you want to fly close to the sun, you better be wearing fire-proof underpants. :)I never said people had to make a payment 40 days in advance. I said that is how I handled MY final payment. But if people were to make a the final payment 2 weeks before drop dead due date ... how much happier, simpler, easier, no panic life would be.
I have seen people post here on CC ... "HELP ... it's my final payment due date and I can't get through on the phone and the website is down and my TA isn't answering the phone and ... and"
No need for this nonsense either.

Check the prices again on Labor Day, as RCCL tends to have sales around major shopping holidays. Once you see the price you want (and $42 is as low as it goes for a drink package) call RCCL and they will cancel the old purchase and charge you the new price. No need to persuade them - this is a common request and they do it gladly! Another way to save money on the drink package is to do the drink + internet combo package, which also goes on sale occaisionlly. Good luck!!How far out is your cruise. Mine is still showing the sale price of $50.00Sent from my SM-G935V using Forums mobile app

Thank you for all the college football descriptions!! At least having some games to watch will be a consolation for having to take a honeymoon cruise during football season. :)

First time cruiser this fall so i don't know if there are any drawbacks, but i went with Best Western on O'Donnel ave near the port. When i called to verify that my reservation included free parking and shuttles, i had an incredibly friendly and reassuring conversation with the hotel manager. Someone else said a Comfort Inn in the area had the same service. If you are choosing between a lot of good options, i just want to throw in a word for Best Western. :)

Continuing on the "just curious" theme of this thread, how do you save money while traveling solo in a suite? I just tried to put a 9-day cruise on the Grandeur in my cart and it was over $6k for a solo suite and a little over $2k for a solo interior cabin. What should I be doing to bring costs down if I'm trying to run up my Crown and Anchor points? Would a TA make a big difference in a situation like that? The money I have saved paying 150% for solo is in the thousands of dollars.Other lines don't give this deal.

Thank you, Drake!! We'll cab it back from Rhythms after I have a fabulous early lunch there. :) I have seen their menu online and I can't wait to go there!!

I have the rum excursion booked at 12:30 but I'll have all morning on my own. Would I have any trouble catching a cab from Rhythms back to the pier around 12 so I can meet up with my tour? Or, since it's only about a mile...is it an easy walk back?

My wife and I would never do something like that, because we hate that kind of attention to ourselves.
Funny you should mention that! I just read another thread here where people also mentioned the Love and Marriage show, and recounted how suggestive and sometimes raunchy the questions were. That is far too much for me, too. Hopefully there are some newlyweds there who don't embarrass as easily as I do. :)

Thank you so much for your live posting, Hansen! I'll be there on my honeymoon cruise for the 12-day in November (husband will be there, too, of course) and now I know we need to work on our kissing to get cast in the Love and Marriage show. :) I enjoyed reading over the lunch and dinner menus you posted and then discovering that I would have ordered almost everything you got. :)

RCCL Antigua Beach Express excursion
in Antigua
Posted
Thank you so much for posting Royal's answer to your question. I just had the same question about my future cruise to Antigua (fingers crossed, etc.), so your thread has really helped me. Dickinson Bay Beach gets glowing reviews on Trip Advisor, so it gives me a lot to think about. The alternative would be the Rum Bus Beach trip to Crabbe's Hill beach, which Fodor's calls "deserted" but also says is filled with "notable beach bar restaurants". I feel like that is a contradiction, but I suspect Antigua is so wonderful I can't really go wrong. :)
