  1. I have flown Iceland a few times, Business class is fine and much cheaper than other airlines business, economy comfort also is fine with added perks like drinks and meals, they are now flying some 767 aircraft. Both business class and economy comfort in most airports include free lounge access including Keflavik.

Keflavik is a very easy airport to transfer, and clearing European customs is relatively easy there. Business class seats were very good comfort wise, they weren't pods but good for the price.and many perks.EC had more leg room and a bit more recline than economy, with no middle passenger in the 757, the 767 is 2 across on the bulkheads and no middle passenger in the middle 3 seats. The one time I flew economy ,the seats were no worse than most of the airlines in the US,better than some, but were 3 across all occupied in the 757 .

  2. this is an interesting group of comments, but it may be comparing apples to oranges. I am booked in a junior suite on Viking on an up coming transatlantic. It will be my first time on Viking.I had my first Celebrity experience on the eclipse a year and a half ago and was in a celebrity suite. That being said I thought the experience on celebrity was very good, the celebrity suite was one of the best cabins I have ever stayed in on a cruise with the exception of the bathroom, the meals in luminae and the included specialty restaurants were very good.I had included gratuities, drink package ,shipboard credits, and a flight credit which will most likely be equivalent to the included items with Viking with the exception of the gratuities and flight allowance, but much of that was used in purchasing tours ,internet etc, so I am assuming this will be a break even with the Viking included tours, drinks and minibar.. The cost comparison is celebrity $1172/night and estimated Viking $1479/nt.On the other hand when I priced a suite on Holland America with little included except for lounge access and breakfast in the specialty restaurants and a couple of specialty restaurants included it was more expensive than either of these.

The point is I don't know that these comparisons are particularly fruitful since the experience on each of these is likely totally different. I have been on Holland in the suites, loved the lounge much better than Michaels club, but the overall experience was not as good as celebrity who seemed to get most things right, but again maybe the eclipse and the Norwegian itinerary and mostly European clientle also makes a difference. . I am looking forward to the small ship experience ,and all of the good things I have seen written about Viking, Just saw the Sea go through the cape cod canal 2 nights ago ,very impressive.

  3. We sail on Viking Star for the first time in December, so I have no firsthand experience. However, when we were booking there were only the 2 ADA staterooms (6020 and 6021) available and our travel agent discouraged us from taking them. She listed a number of differences in the configuration, none of which I recall now but they did cause us to switch categories. I would suggest that if you don't require an ADA room and those are the only ones available that you may wish to do some research (TA/Viking) before making a decision.
I have 6018 which is not ,I am assuming the ada are different becaus

was it because they were ADA , my booking is not one of them

  4. SSBN602, We have stayed in one of Deck 6 Penthouse Junior Suite starboard side cabins on a previous cruise and found that it was wonderful. No problems with noise (and we were near the forward stairs and elevators). We liked it so much, that we booked the same cabins on our upcoming cruises or one just like it on the port side of the ship. They have many of the same benefits as the Explorer Suites, just proportionally smaller (400 + square feet vs almost 800 square feet including balconies).

By the way, is your handle indicative that you served in the Silent Service aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln? Just curious, :)

I was on the Lincoln 68 to 72/ 9 patrols
