I wonder if there ever was a hot tub planned on Equinox?  We booked a signature suite for Aug 2020 while on Edge in Feb the future cruise guy showed us the deck plans on the website then and there was no hot tub featured in Feb.  i look forward to the area for the decease in passengers as too many people cause me anxiety.  Wish 2020 was here 😎

When we booked our suite, we were told they were adding the hot tub to the Retreat.  After the drydock we were told (by Celebrity), plans for the Retreat were still moving forward, except for the hot tub.  Overall isn't a huge deal for us but I will miss it just a little 😎

I personally am glad they are not refurbishing the Suites.  I like the suites as they are on the SClass. I do not like what Kelly Hoppen has done.  We were just on the Summit in a Suite and were completely disappointed.   I was never a fan of suites on the MClass (except PH), to begin with, but Kelly seemed to make them worse.  We cancelled our Suite for the Equinox and are now sailing in a regular veranda in June for the first time in years.  Had I known they weren't going to do the cabins, I might have changed my mind.  The sundeck was wonderful but missed the comfort of the old Michaels Club and it looks like Equinox will be similar.

I think the only thing I’ll miss is water in the Retreat.  I was looking forward to being able to jump in the hot tub occasionally while relaxing on deck.  I’ll treat myself to an extra drink and get over it I’m sure 😎😉

I get that things happened beyond their control, but I cannot help but be disappointed I went with the Equinox and promise of a Revolutionized ship over the Edge for Feb break 2020. I checked with my TA about changing, but Celebrity does not make it as easy as Disney does, so I feel stuck with a now inferior product. 😞 I’m sure I will enjoy myself, but it is disappointing - especially seeing what all the others are getting.

I agree.  I think those of us sailing in June wouldn’t have time to make a change at this point.  I paid a premium to experience the suite on a refurbished ship and we won’t do that now, with very little real info until now.  I have no doubt that we’ll have a great trip but I do feel a little disappointed that I’m not getting the exact trip I chose and planned.

Okay, I will address the elephant in the room...  Methinks there is a fair amount of misogyny in this thread.

It's the 21st century folks and women deserve their right to a place at the table.  They've had to work twice as hard as any man to get that place and they are just as competent (and deserving).  The role of captain requires competence, leadership, and customer service, and Captain Kate has those qualifications.

I"m an old white guy who believes that women have more than earned their place in the former "good old boy" networks.  The role of captain is earned and Captain Kate has earned her stripes!

Thanks for this!  I was trying to find a nice way of asking if the poster really just wanted her to stay home and have babies 🙄

  5. The restaurant has a lovely afternoon tea.  Much more indulgent than a quick tour.  I’m hoping someone has done it recently and knows if they still offer it and times.  We don’t get in to Nassau until after 12 noon.

We just returned from a really enjoyable cruise on the Equinox. Highly recommended.    Here we go:

    Highlights

    - There was a great variety in music with the House Band playing on several evenings in the Atrium and Ensemble Lounge.  Performed in the theater as well.

    - The bakery chefs were just outstanding.  The desserts tasted as good as they looked!  Great bread and rolls.

    - No waits at bars for drinks. Note straws are now made of paper.

    - The Celebrity Whale Watching Excursion in Samana was exceptional.  Saw numerous whales but the seas were rough as we approached the opening of the harbor. Bags were provided....     North  Atlantic humpbacks winter there with  the babies.

    - The Staff in Blu was exceptional and worked as a team.  Food was of high quality and served hot.

    - Discounts were abundant for the Specialty Restaurants.     20-30%.

    - Improved production shows with familiar songs added.  Singers and dancers were just  on  board in their 3rd week and were really good. Excellent nightly entertainment.

    - Dinner 5 in Oceanview was  a Fish Market theme.  8 varieties of grilled fish for you to choose from.  I ordered Red Snapper and  swordfish.

    Lowlights

    - Arrival in San Juan.  We pulled up to the pier at 3:10 and did not get off until 4:30.  Told by an officer "This one you can blame on the Captain".  We were surprised to hear that!

    - Floors were slippery in the OceanView Buffet. There was one nasty fall and we noted others slipping.  Wear shoes with good traction.

    Other Info:

    - Walk off by self began shortly after 7:35 a.m.  3 agents checking Passports in Miami but we got through quickly.  Made it to FLL before 9 am.

    - Our excursions included St John's Trunk Bay Snorkel,  Atlantis Aquarium in Nassau and Whale Watching in Samana--all thru the excursion desk.

How did you like the Trunk Bay Snorkel?  We’re looking at that for our June sailing.

What date are you sailing? We may be on the same boat. First time cruisers and first time in the Caribbean so looking forward to it.

Any suggestions for the Tortola stop? None of the excursions have really caught our fancy.

We're sailing June 22nd, first time on Celebrity but we've done the Caribbean 6 times 😎  We didn't see any excursions that appealed so I dug around online and will probably walk up to the Botanical Gardens and then eat at Pussers Road Town Pub.

  8. I know they changed our port in June because they kept having to cancel because the weather conditions make tendering too dangerous, so it may be a summer thing ?  Guessing, of course.  But I hope they change yours!  Tortola looks beautiful and lots more to do.

Wait, I’m on the equinox in 39 days also and Punta Cana isn’t one of our scheduled stops. Are you on the March 23 selling  to the Western Caribbean? Are you confusing Punta Cana with Costa  Maya?

I wish I was sailing in 39 days!  You may have my post mixed up with someone else’s.  We sail in June 😎

Just read it again....not to me 🤣

Did they email or call you?  We are sailing in 39 days and we haven't heard anything.  It would be awesome and a welcoming change.

I saw it on our roll call first, my TA still hasn't told me 😂  But then it popped up on our planner.
