  1. So it looks like it shows the ship is docking in Marseille at 5:00 a.m. now on the day we disembark, 10/13. I still haven't booked my train to Paris yet and our flight leaves at 4:30 that day. Do you think we can make a 7:00 a.m. train at the train station in Marseille if we self disembark? It'll just be me and my 21-year-old daughter.

  2. Following along.  Cruising the Mediterranean for the first time but we have 2 days back to back in Rome in October with NCL and we are docked there over night. So I think from what I have researched we could book this to and from the first day we are there, but on the 2nd would have to find another way back to the ship as it may arrive too late.  I looked on the ncl website to see if we could just book transfers through them but I am not seeing anything. It will just be me and my adult daughter and with it being out first time visiting I am wanting to be safe but not too expensive for us.

  3. So we haven't cruised since 2014 on the Breeze.

It was our first Carnival cruise and we loved it!

Looking to possibly try out the Horizon in March 2019 or may stick with the Breeze. Has anyone been on the 2 and can compare them for me?

At the time of travel it will be me, hubby and 3 kids: 19 yo son, 16 yo daughter and 11 yo son

  4. Here is a video of the upgrades being done:

Here is a list of the upgrades straight from John Heald's Post on Facebook:

"Prior to its deployment to Mobile, the 2,056-passenger Carnival Fantasy will undergo a multi-million-dollar refurbishment that will add several elements of the cruise line’s popular Fun Ship 2.0 product enhancement program, including Guy’s Burger Joint, developed in tandem with Food Network star Guy Fieri, two poolside watering holes, the RedFrog Rum Bar and BlueIguana Tequila Bar, and the BlueIguana Cantina Mexican-themed eatery."

And here is a lady who just got off, with a review that is currently on-going:

In her review and the video, everything looks awesome. We are going on Fantasy next year and I can't wait. I think it looks like a wonderful ship.

    HTH

    Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Wow, congratulations. 3 weeks wow, wow, wow. My dad transferred to Tampa from Chicago in 1958 and we have been here ever since. The heat and humidity is brutal for three months out of the year. The other nine months more than make up for it.

Plus think of how easy it will be to cruise when you live in Florida.

If you don't mind me asking, what part of Florida are considering?

We are thrilled to be under contract BUT the buyer selected the mortage contingency so we are in limbo until June 5th, he must provide us with proof of mortgage by then.

We are looking at a few different areas...Oveido, Clermont and Ocoee.

I apologize for being mia but we have had so much going on with selling our house, plus both my boys play baseball, oldest plays for Connie Mack and has it M/W/F/S and youngest has it F/S, plus trying to research the schools and jobs and rentals in FL has been so time consuming.

  6. Once again I apologize, our lives have gotten crazy! We listed our house and sold it in 3 weeks.

We may actually be moving from PA (where we have lived our entire lives)

    to FL on July 15th!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so excited but there is so much research to do before we move, esp. trying to figure out where to rent and what school to choose for our kids. we have never moved such a long distance and have been in our current house for 14 years.

This afternoon when the 2 little ones I babysit nap, I will pop on here and try and wrap this up. thanks for reading.

  7. Hello I am a Disney lover as well. I have also done my fair share of cruises as well. We did the Disney Fantasy in Feb of 2014 and loved it. Just came home from the Carnival Sunshine from spring break and was thinking about doing a trip report. There are some good and some bad. We will be sailing the Breeze over Thanksgiving this November so your report caught my eye. There are a few things I will tweak on my next Carnival Cruise. Thanks for doing your report.

I would also love to read a tr about the Sunshine! She was our second choice if we did not cruise the Breeze. I asked our one server about the Sunshine and he just laughed, shook his head and said "The Breeze is so much better!" ;) He had been on the Sunshine before he was on the Breeze.

  8. Dining rooms:

Now as some of you may know, on the Disney ships have rotating dining rooms with some of them having entertainment, such as Animator's Palate. The theming of the Disney dining rooms is really neat.

My kids did like the different dining rooms on Disney, BUT the service on Disney was not near as good as we had on the Breeze and the length of time for our meals on the Disney ships was too long. So even though some of it was entertaining, my kids, hubby and myself were always anxious for the meal to be over. On Disney it took forever to get refills on drinks, if we were lucky to get any at all. The servers on Disney always seemed rushed and rarely smiled. We felt like we were just another number on the ship. I have to tell you that we did not expect it to be that way at all, it was actually the opposite of how we expected it to be.

On the Breeze we had a great serving staff, even though we did your time dining we requested the same serving staff every night...and every night they were there to greet us with big smiles and wonderful service. They catered to the kids and made all of us feel welcome. They went out of their way to make our dining experience special. Our service was always prompt and we were in and out of the dining room in about an hour to hour 15 minutes each night. I'll also note that on the Breeze there was a magician who came around and did card tricks and things at our table, the kids really enjoyed that!

The food on the Disney ships and the Breeze was comparable, but I felt like the Breeze had many more options to choose from.

So this is tough one, if you have kids that are younger and would benefit from the entertainment in the Disney dining rooms then it would be great for you. If you are looking for great service and food then the Breeze is great too. For me personally I would rather have stellar service, even if it means being in the same dining room every night. That being said if you have never cruised Disney and can afford it, then go for it...the dining rooms are really neat!

  9. Cabins:

When we cruised on the Disney Magic and the Disney Dream we opted for indoor cabins, we needed 2 cabins (hubby snores worse then a freight train) and they were the only ones we could afford ;)

It worked out ok for us as our youngest was still taking naps when we cruised on the Magic and since the rooms were dark he napped well and we all slept great at night.

When we cruised on the Dream we had 2 insides but we had the magic portholes. The kids really enjoyed them!

On the Breeze we had 2 cove balconies for less then we would have paid for 2 insides on the Magic cruising the same week. Remember we were originally booked on the Magic for this same exact week and switched due to finances. I have to say that the coves were absolutely amazing! We loved being so close to the water and we were able to have the divider between the balconies opened up so we have had on big balcony.

As much as I am a total Disney nut, I have to say that I would probably choose Carnival Breeze over the current Disney ships just to be able to have those cove balconies. Now if we could afford a balcony on Disney would we choose them? For sure. But at this point in time there is no way we could afford a balcony on Disney, let alone 2 connecting ones.

Now a few things we preferred in the Disney cabins: the split bathrooms and the beds. Hubby did not like the showers on the Breeze as he is a larger person, 6'2" and 220 lbs. The rest of us had no problems with them. The beds on the Disney Dream are the best beds I have ever slept on in my entire life. the beds on the Breeze were just ok. We also liked the trunks in the Disney cabins to store things in.

That being sad there was plenty of storage in the Breeze cabins. There is a 3 doored closet, plus room under the beds. Also on the Breeze we had bathrobes in our closet, a nice touch.

Cabin attendants and towel animals for both cruise lines were comparable, no difference in service noted.

Room service for both cruise lines was the same as well.

  10. Going to Darkwood's website says there are NO public restrooms!!! Also, little shade so bring your own beach umbrella...well on a cruise that's a bit difficult. Any other ideas?

There are 2-3 restrooms. they have working toilets/water and are big enough to change in if you need to. There is shade if you rent loungers under the canopy/awning. The restaurant also has shaded seating.
