  1. I've noticed that on the few trips that I'm tracking, that in the past day since the free service charge has been added, quite a bit of cabins have been sold....whereas before, there was lots of availability and slow sales.

    Smart (finally) on NCL's part.

What are your thoughts on them keeping this perk for a bit? As I write this, their site says "Limited Time"?

I admit that I'm taking a chance by waiting to book and that's ok. I'm betting (wisely, I hope!) that with lots of availability on the trips that I'm tracking, prices will drop....and free service charge stays.

In your experience, have you seen them add a perk and then take it away after a very short time?

    Thanks,

  2. Hi.

Our voyage departs 50 days from today. Friends are hoping to join us and are still waiting to get vacation time approved.

I count at least 160 cabins still available. Do you think a price drop is probable? I haven't noticed a fare difference one way or the other since the beginning of June.

If they can go, I'd like them to get the best fare.

    Thanks,

  3. I am so disappointed! We have (had) 2 reservations on the Jewel beginning Sept 17, Seattle - Vancouver and then Vancouver to LA.

NCL says this is in violation of the Jones Act and that I had to cancel one of them!

I can understand that if I were booking B2B but I did two separate reservations. Why would it matter especially if we were willing to pack up and disembark and then re-board with everyone else?

I'm so ticked off right now!!

Am I the only one that this does not make sense to?

  4. Which hotels are closest to Pier 66 in Seattle?

We're staying at the Marriott one-night pre. Stayed there a few years ago when we sailed out of pier 91.

We walked across the street and watched them loading supplies onto a NCL ship.

Also, there's easy access to Pike Place Market.

The hotel was really nice. A bit pricey but you can't beat the convenience if you're sailing on NCL.

  5. Well now I'm happy! Got a nice man who listened to my concerns (complaints) and he really helped me out.

I ended up getting a price reduction of $310 plus a bottle of wine and chocolate dipped strawberries and get to keep the ultimate dining package.

He said that I should be getting a call or an email from a supervisor regarding my not wanting to work with my assigned PCC. I would have liked to continue working with the man that just helped me but he said that was out of his control, tho I could request him when I speak with the supervisor.

Thank you all for sharing your experiences and advise. I knew I could count on you!!

  6. Is it just me having this experience?

I made my reservation (Jewel 9-17-16) by calling NCL. Now i am stuck with having only one person who will help me with it.

I call and leave emails that either get returned days later or not at all.

If I ask to speak with someone else, I get bumped to the guy's voicemail. One time I got transferred to one of his "teammates" and that guy wouldn't help me either.

Back in 2004-2004, I was a home-based agent for NCL. At that time, whoever took a call could help the customer.

I like having control of my own reservation. That's why I call directly instead of using a travel agent. But as you can see, this isn't working out that way for me.

    Is this the new norm??

Thanks for listening and any words of wisdom would be appreciated!

  7. Hi 5th Day.

Alaska is by far our favorite destination. 9-17-16 will be my 10th cruise there. I would take a cabin anywhere just to be on the voyage!

Because we prefer to travel more frequently, we usually choose inside cabins tho we have on occasion had balconies and window cabins. Definitely awesome!

Our trick......be close to outside. Either on the promenade deck near an exit door or on the upper most cabin deck where you are near to outside access.

I've never felt confined in an inside cabin but I will admit, even in Alaska, when we do have a balcony, the door is always open for the great fresh air even during the night. Love the sounds of the ocean.

To me, it's all about location when choosing a cabin. So my vote for you is....... longer cruise in an inside cabin in the best available location.

You will have a fantastic time with whatever you choose!

  8. So I bought internet minutes for our transatlantic on the CB thinking that I would make Wi-Fi calls to check in on my elderly family members.

What did I learn the hard way?? That each time I unsuccessfully attempted to log on and connect to Princess, I was charged $5.99.

Since logging in each time usually took a few tries, I racked up at lease 15 of these charges. Needless to say, T-Mobile claimed that though these charges showed up on my statement, that the charges were actually for an overseas connection (even tho I didn't even connect) and that they couldn't reverse the charges.

Oh, well. That's one mistake I won't be making again.

    Cruise on!!

    Barbara
