  1. I have a family of 5, and the breakout of our room is $4,000 for the 1st 2 passengers, $100 for the 3rd and 4th, and $300 for the 5th. When buying cruise insurance, do I have to specify certain amounts per person based on that breakdown, or can I just split the final price by 5?  $8,500 divided by 5 people would be $1700 each. Either we all go or no one does. TIA!

Speaking only as to the Jewel class ships, I don’t think the seats that are reserved for suite passengers are in the best location.  I’ve never had a big problem getting a good seat in the main theater on these ships.

That stinks, since this was one of our favorite perks on Harmony of the Seas, not having to go early and just showing up to great seats.  Granted, Harmony is a much larger ship.

  3. Hi!  My family and I are considering getting a suite on the Norwegian Pearl (jewel class) and we're a little unsure about the suite perks.  It appears that these can vary based on the class or even the ship?  We are reading different things all over the place - does it include reserved seating at shows?  Someone said a complementary mini-bar, which seems unlikely.  We found recently on RCL that some perks listed on their website did not apply to the larger ships b/c there are just too many suites (does not apply here obviously). TIA!

  4. We are currently booked in a 2 bedroom suite on Harmony of the Seas.  I saw where The Key gets you specific hours set aside for onboard activities (flowrider, etc.).  Do suite guests get a range of time as well?  All descriptions say you'll be the first, but I don't know specifically what that means - ride once at a specific time and that's it?  Also, what activities can you get priority for?  TIA.

Was that "Traveler's Insured" or "Travel Insured"?

If there is a different one with a similar name, maybe we should look into it.

    All hints are always welcomed.

I didn't know about a refund of premium in a case like this.

We've only cancelled and had insurance ''switched" when it was only the deposit that was "covered", so we hadn't encountered this.

Glad it worked out so well!

It is Travel Insured International.  They told me that they understand that there can be changes in plans.  All that being said, I haven't gotten the refund yet, but I imagine it can take some time.  If this all comes out, they will have my business forever!

  6. A belated thank you to everyone for the information.  I did end up using Squaremouth as a broker and they were wonderful.  We ended up using different underwriters for my family and my in-laws because of fare differences - they are elderly and we have children.

One piece of advice - if possible find out which company is the most flexible.  It's a long story, but our cruise was canceled, and when we booked another cruise with different amounts, my in-laws' policy (Seven Corners) had to be changed and we had to pay more money for less coverage.  For our policy (Traveler's Insured) we got a refund for the decrease in coverage!  They were wonderful.  They were also able to indicate on the policy what the different coverages per person should be (since my daughters were cheaper), instead of automatically splitting the total equally amongst everyone on the policy, which led us to open multiple policies.

  7. My family and in-laws are booked on a cruise in an 8-person suite.  The way they do the pricing is that the 1st person is ~$6700, 2nd is $2700, and the remaining 6 are $378.  My in-laws are from a different state, so we have to have 2 different policies.  We cannot afford to go if my in-laws need to cancel for some reason.  Insurance companies are telling me that the claim amount would have to match the receipts, as opposed to splitting the total into 8 portions.  What experience have you had with that?

My in-laws are currently listed as the 1st and 2nd person, but to insure that much money will cost over $3000 given their age.  I can move things around to get the amount at least partially distributed, but one insurance company suggested opening different policies for the larger 2.  Do I really need 4 policies?  Please tell me it doesn't have to be this complicated!

    Thanks in advance.

  8. I was on Getaway last week, the first week of spring break. The ship was completely full, and they did not add any shows.

Does "completely full" mean lines everywhere you went? I'm wondering about the ropes course, rock climbing, etc. We planned to stay back on 1 port, hoping that it would be quieter, but at least the Feb dailies only showed ropes open 3-6 and 7-9, and rocks from 5-8. Was that your experience? With long lines? Thanks!

  9. So,,, sailing in a few weeks and not seeing any early shows means that they are sold out for online booking. Shows open 90-120 days prior to cruise and if you wanted early times, 3-4 months ago is when you need to book them. There may be additional seats available as soon as you embark. Use the touch screen kiosks in the elevator lobbies to book your shows and dinners.

At least one member of your party should line up at least 60 minutes before show time (90 minutes better). Your entire party MUST be in line by 30 minutes prior to show time when the doors open and dinner starts. The hostess will seat you first-come-first-serve, front to back. Haven guests are seated before the doors open via a crew elevator and side door, so even if you are first in line, you won't get the "best" seats.

Interesting... it never occurred to me that they could be booked up for that time. Argh.

  10. We are sailing on the Getaway in a few weeks, and we would like to take our kids to see the Cirque show, but as of now there are 3 nights shown, all at 8:30 (late for dinner, they will be melting:D by the end). I read somewhere about them adding shows, and mentions of 5:30 shows, but I don't recall when that was. Does anyone have recent experience on the ship who could tell me one way or the other? Thanks!

  11. My family and I will be on the Getaway in a few weeks to the Western Caribbean, and the biggest thing that I am stressed over is being on a ship with almost 4000 other guests and having to wait in line everywhere we go. With it being spring break, should we expect to stand in long lines for the amenities (rock climbing, ropes course, water slides, etc.)? I have heard that the pool can be bad, but I'm not sure what to expect for the other stuff.
