  1. We got on at Lima after a fantastic tour of Machu Picchu through Azamara. 21 of us were on that tour and we were well taken care of.  Return to Lima and the ship we were supposed to go to a hotel about 45 mins away from the port while we were only about fifteen mins.  The ship agreed that our guides could take us directly to the dock.

Yes there were some glitches along the way but I do feel that nobody on any cruise is immune from glitches and port cancellations. We were a bit disappointed with the first missed port but we went with the flow and carried on. When we got closer to Ushuaia it was well known that there was only a 50/50 chance of getting to the Falklands. Since we were going to do the 4x4 tour to see the king penguins I decided to to change one of our Ushuaia tours to go see the penguins on Isle de Magdalene just in case. Worked out I did the right thing.

For us this was a fantastic 21 days overall.

The back to back were so different regarding the ambience on board ship.  We did the Christmas tour too. The guests had a totally different agenda except for the few of us who had stayed on. We enjoyed the excursions we did book except for one of which we reported to say it didn’t live up to what was described at all. we were compensated with a partial refund ,no questions asked.

Like you I think Pursuit will eventually become a well oiled ship with staff  that are fully trained. We do know that staff from the othe ships had been brought aboard to train the new staff. My husband met our old cabin stewards from last Christmas on the Quest.

  2. Our guide Beatric de Gonzáles said the wood  was original,  mahogany wood is used.

The average income for a month is $200.00 Canadian. that’s 510 sols in today’s market value.  People don’t have pensions from the government so they use ever means possible to raise a little more income. You have to be cautious but not frightend and don’t flaunt what you have. take photos but put your camera away afterwards, gold jewellery isn’t very good to wear so I took off my wedding ring but left my sleepers in my ears. The peruvians have a funny sense of humour which we didn’t mind one bit . One older gentleman came up to us to chat as he saw us wandering down the street. He talked to our guide and then said I hope I have lost my wife.  We laughed when we found out what he had said.  he was tired of shopping around with the ladies and wanted to get away.  He then went off to find them.  I had another fellow go by me who made 2 kissing noises and then dissappeared somewhere. I didn’t bat an eye and Robert said “ oh that’s a compliment.  I just shrug . no big deal.

Hey, it's me.  Looks like you're having a great trip so far and your little camera definitely takes amazing pictures.  Keep it up and keep posting and updating.  We're looking forward to hearing and seeing all about it.  Have a great trip and don't forget, if you get wifi, you can use Google translator to communicate.  Most restaurants offer free wifi and often cruise ports also have available wifi.  Wifi on the ship may be spotty and unreliable (if what the folks on our recent cruise were experiencing is typical)

yes Robert has a neat little ap that translates as you point the camera to street names etc. it also does voice translation english to spanish and vice versa.   Robert,  I hope, will put up the spontaneous activity we did emerging ourselves into the , i would say private lives of families having their homes blessed. It was a real thrill and ,I would say honour that we were allowed to wander in and watch.

This doesn't sound like it's anything to do with the problem reported by the OP, which concerns URLs contained within posts on the forum.

Your problem is what happens when you receive an email from CC and you click on the link to go to the post. In some cases, you are clicking a link that takes you either to a roll call thread or a similar thread that requires you to be logged in even to read it.

But the login system may not log you in immediately. You may have lost the automatic login cookie for some reason, or you may have chosen not to log in automatically when you come to CC.

If you do have an automatic login cookie, it may still require a second page call before you are logged in - hence the first page that you call returns the result you should get if you are not logged in. Sometimes the first CC page will automatically refresh after a second or two, in which you but that process doesn't always work with some browsers or the way that some people have their browsers set up.

Nevertheless, a manual second page call (like coming to the Help forum) will then do the same job, hence you find that you are logged in on the second page call. And then you will be logged in when navigating to any other forum pages.

Thank you for the quick response. I will check about the login cookie. I should now be able to figure it out. Wheeeee!

  5. I have the same problem with every email I get for the forums. the response i get at the website is. that I’m not authorized to enter it and yet  I am logged in when I go to the help menu.  Very strange.

Oh and now, because I did go to the help subjects I’m logged into this. I will now see if I’m really logged in when I go beck to the page I really want.

  6. First off go to your Dr here. I used the alitude pills twice a day .taking the first one before I left Lima. I felt a little dizzy A couple of times. I onky had the tea in morning. Ercic de Grey said he was eating the tea leaves. Never needed them.

Lima..I did the old part of the city while still on a cruise ship. From hotel I did museums, a food tour and swam. I booked the food tour from home. The museums driver at hotel.

For MP I wore a sweatshirt thst ended up around my waist. I stated with a cheap rain poncho over sweatshirt. I did this trip late Feb into March. Rained hard. 30 minutes at MP..then light then sun. None in SV.which was very warm in daytime. Nights cold. Cusco saw rain twice and one of those I was on the way to dinner.

I stayed at all Belmont hotels. Heated bathroom floors. Saw five churches inCusco. Eat at Fallen Angel. Food was good not great but wow decor. Also Chicha,s there. SV the place to go begins with H.

I climbed both Pisac and Olly. Also Pisac has a lovely garden to go in.it was 10 sols. Three sols to a dollar. Go to B and N for Fommers book. Just sit and read. Was a huge help

Thank -you for the suggestions. The high altitude sickness pills will certainly help. We will be seeing a travel dr. who will also recommend all the emunizations etc that we will need. We were also looking at Belmont hotels since we will be on our own for at least 1 1/2 days before meeting up with the tour group at the airport hotel. We want to definitely do a tour or two. Since we will be getting in to Lima around 1:30 am we won’t get to our hotel about 3am ,i’m guessing , we will be pretty tired.

  7. Thank you Robin. Those are good ideas. I will be going to my dr for the pills as I’m worried about the high altitude sickness. I also found out my dr also went to Machu Picchu a number of years ago so she knows what I should expect. Since we are from Canada cold weather isn’t a problem as where we live our winters can go down to the - 30s C . or -20s F. or lower. we sometimes hit -40 with a windchill. We just don’t venture out too long when ts that cold.

  8. Thank you, Robin. Since we will be taking a direct flight to Lima from

Toronto, Canada we do have to leave 3-5 days before we meet up with our guide. So we are going to stay in Lima and do the museum touring and other things I think. Our land tour is 5 days , we will fly from Lima to Cuzco and from there straight to the Sacred Valley where we will spend 1 1/2 day touring different sites. then up to Machu Picchu for two days, first day seeing the ruins and the second day hiking up to the Sun Door. It’s going to be packed with things to do and I’m so excited about it. Got my hiking shoes, waterproof, pack ,socks. Now I just have to figure out clothing. Layers for sure and rain gear. I’m thinking of rain pants and a rain poncho so that my pack and camera can fit. under it. I figure we will get rain as this is at that end of November.

  9. My husband and I are doing the Dec 1 cruise from Lima to Buenos Aires with the pre cruise trip to Machu Picchu and then because we are so close to Christmas we will then take the Christmas cruise on the same ship up to Rio de Juenerio ,my spelling is bad, and back. Since we are down there we are thinking of the land trip to Iguazu Falls and then home. We are so looking forward to this and hope our experience is fantastic. Mach Picchu has been my dream since the sixties when I first learned about it.
