  1. interesting projections ( I hope the pandemic doesn't having that kind of longevity) Based upon the projections widespread vaccination is a year away. The cruiselines may not be able to remain solvent that long and I think widespread vaccination and immunity will be necessary before the industry can even think about getting back to more normal operations.

I will remain optimistic and hope we can soon return to our revered lifestyle.

    Stay Healthy  🙂

  2. Board of directors would not necessarily need shareholder approval to cancel/suspend  this benefit. That is after all why we elect a board of directors, to make these kind of operational decisions between shareholder meetings.

  3. We sailed B2B this week (Feb 2 - 9), and the previous week. The two weeks were like night and day. First cruise seemed extremely loud and crowded at all the public areas. The Feb 2nd cruise (although plagued with many of the usual problems with some chair hogging etc) was a much more relaxed and comfortable experience.  so YMMV week to week.

This is the most beautiful ship with the best passenger amenities that I have been on (approx 30 cruises and counting).  I would probably sail MSC exclusively if they would improve their buffet variety and main dining room meals (quality and preparation was IMO edible but below the standards of most other mainstream cruise lines)

Ocean cay visit, a work in progress but a real unique experience (loved it) protect your feet and wear water shoes as there are lots of broken and sharp coral all around the island and beaches.

sorry if I hijacked the thread

    What car racing?

I believe it is a F1 Race car simulator, and I believe there is a charge for it,

I have no personal experience yet, but I believe there is also a charge for the Bowling and for the 4d movie.

  5. Dear Guest,

As you are aware, the U.S. Administration announced changes to regulations regarding travel to Cuba, which eliminate the prior authorization permitting cruise ships to travel from the U.S. to Cuba. As a result of these substantial changes in U.S. law and regulation, effective June 5, 2019, cruise ships are no longer allowed to call Cuba after departing a U.S. port.

We are aware that you have an upcoming 7-night Caribbean cruise – including a call in Havana, Cuba – booked on MSC Armonia. Given the recent change in regulations, MSC Armonia is no longer authorized to call Cuba, and we were therefore required to alter the itinerary of your cruise.

The alternative schedule of your cruise will be:

the value is on the card as "cash".

So that's unlimited dollar value for the length of the cruise that doesn't run out or an amount that is set and is reduced after each use until the value is depleted?

Thank you for your answers  ☺️

  7. I have tried to understand how the fun pass works by reading about others experiences but I still have questions and I would like to clarify some things before deciding to buy.

Are there any limits on how often a person may repeat any activity? For example can you possibly bowl two or three games in a row or drive the simulator daily? or is it good for a single use at each activity only? (one and done)

Are there any "pay experiences" that are not included? for example; Bowling, 4D theater, F1 Simulator, Flight simulator, Does the Meraviglia provide a list of what is included for the pass? and more importantly what is not?  (would anyone happen to have a price list for pay per use for each individual on board activity)

It is reported that one fun pass can be used by more than one person, Can a couple buy one pass for the cabin and together go bowling or simulator racing against each other or do they each need a separate pass to play head to head or participate together?

Does the person who purchases the pass have to be in attendance for another person  to use it or can they just take the pass with them?

Is the pass "swiped" at each use, is it loaded onto the sea pass card or is it a separate card that is presented as required for proof? Can it be replaced if accidentally lost?

Thanks for taking the time to read this thread and for any information you can provide.

    Cheers!

  8. Correct, board of directors would likely decide on behalf of shareholders. (isn't MSC privately owned anyway?) Regarding the rumour,  It doesn't sound all that feasible but everything has its price.

Did they have afternoon tea? Any spa specials? Trying to decide if I should book before or wait.. Did they do a big buffet with chocolate sculptures and ice sculptures?

    Not the OP but here is our experience;

We did not see anything advertising an afternoon tea. no Ice Sculptures, no Chocolate Sculpture except the Chocolate ship ( very nice touch) in our cabin from the loyalty program.

We did not pay particular attention to spa specials but when asking the staff in the spa they suggested they do have some specials. I never saw a sale even on port days, so I would next time book in advance any desired spa services and get the pre cruise discount.

Yes ... I posted a photo of the menu for night 3 which does have 'fisherman's plate' on it.  You'd still have to order the NY strip from the 'Classic Favorites' list to have surf n' turf.    I don't think this is quite what was envisaged at the time of the press release.

I agree 100%, not what I envisioned either based on the press release. I  just wanted to clarify that there was a meal with lobster without the up charge.  1/2 lobster tail approx 2 -3 ozs.  no drawn butter.  We were not that thrilled about the overall dining experience. We ordered a Scallop main course  ( both of us) one evening and it came with a measly one and 1/2 scallops and little sauce on the noodles. I'm sure they are trying to curb food waste but really 1 1/2 scallops for a main course looks pretty Chintzy.  Loved almost everything else about the cruise though.

No ... just before Armonia began sailing from Miami, MSC made a few changes, including adding the new speciality restaurant, Surf & Turf.  They then sent out press releases, such as the link to one that Informatics Nurse has posted, stating that:

"In the main dining room, guests will be able to enjoy cold-water lobster to create their own surf ‘n turf at no additional cost. While dining on these elevated offerings, Aurea Experience guests will also have the option to dine al fresco, with a reserved outdoor area, featuring the open water as the backdrop."

This has not been the case.

Here's a page from the MSC website (before it disappeared):

Cruise From Miami To Cuba with MSC Armonia | MSC Cruises.pdf

We sailed January 28th - Feb. 4th . If my memory serves me, on the third night, the main dining room offered a dish called "fishermans plate" or some similar name. It had  1 large Shrimp, 1 piece of fish, and 1/2 of a lobster tail. this was included on the menu and there was no "upcharge"

We have some of the Daily Planners, and I could take pictures of them. Do you want to see a schedule page? Or all of it?

Any info that you would care to share would be great. I don't want to ask you to do too much since you've already helped out a great deal, but the schedules and other daily information like the offers for the spa, casino, etc. Don't worry about the flyers for the jewelry sales pitch and all that lol. Just trying to get a good idea of what a day on the ship is like compared to other cruises. Thanks again!

    Imfinney,

I also thank you for posting your review, there is such a void of information on this itinerary. Like Reds4life I would love every scrap of information or dailies you would be kind enough to share with us, I'm sure there are many others who would also be appreciative. I realize this is a lot to ask and understand if it is too much to ask. We are excited to go, our sail date is January 28th.

    Cheers,

  13. Thanks Merion_mom, host Clarea and everyone else who share and help tons of people with their knowledge :D

The reason I had resurrected the old thread was that I stumbled upon information I thought was new to this board, to this thread, and relevant to the question whether there were filters on the freestyle coke machine. if this was previously answered sorry for the redundancy. I did search the thread Merion_mom linked too and it was full of good info but I did not see any posts that address the question of whether or not the freestyle machines have their own filters.

Just hoping this helps anyone who wanted to know if ships water is filtered by the freestyle machines ( looks like the answer is yes)

    Cheers!

  14. I realize this post is 5 years old, but this appears to be relevant information and may answer some questions asked in this thread (that may not have been answered elsewhere)

"the Coke Freestyle machine has even bigger implications for the filter industry! Because all Coca-Cola freestyle machines require filtration systems the filtration businesses benefit too! All filters must meet NSF standard 42 and the dispensing system requires approximately 120 gallons per hour dispenser when in operation. Our Everpure systems are approved by coke to be the filtration system of choice with this modern machine"

cut and paste from filterpure dot com website

    Cheers!
