  1. I have been able to re-price a sold out category before final payment date for the Kids Sail Free promotion for clients before for a lower price. This is primarily the one exception to the rule although there may be other promotions like going to Buy One Get One 50% or 30% everyone, but usually doesn't cause price drops on sold out categories.

  2. Typically unless you have a casino rate, you already will be on Early Saver. It sounds like you are like you are looking at a ViFP Early Saver rate which has the reduced deposit, 2 category Upgrade, and $50 onboard credit. This is a very normal offer and already has the price protection and there's no need to book something else and change to it to get the offer. Just remember, Early Saver deposits are nonrefundable.

  3. I definitely don't think it's a charter. Typically the signs you see for charter is ship suddenly has no rooms left and is close to sold out or is sold out far in advance of the cruise and it doesn't seem to be a date with high demand that far out. This means they are in discussion and finalizing the paperwork to do a charter. Then maybe a month later you will get that email saying your cruise has been chartered and list of options. More likely first change was due to construction at Coco Cay, and second change could be berthing or other agreement issues.

  4. When are you sailing? Royal Caribbean does have 5 night dining packages, but if you are not sailing for quite a while, they may not have released all the options yet. You definitely do not want to have two sets of BOGO as those do state they are for the first 2 nights and they may not be inclined to refund for the second set that will double booked onboard. Watch for the 5 night to come up, cancel the second BOGO now. Good luck!

  5. They have absolutely no way to credit a card that has never been used to pay on a booking. The refund would automatically take place and you would need to contact the credit card company that you were refunded but your account is closed and the credit card company would be responsible for sending you a check. Occasionally the credit card company will reject the credit as they recognize that the credit card is no longer open and the person has no open accounts with them, but more likely they will receive it and keep track of it for a while and wait for you to contact them for getting that money. Sometimes they will even be proactive and send a check automatically to the last known address.

  6. This sounds really suspicious, honestly. Agencies can either opt in or out of the Upgrade Advantage and there isn't any rate a travel agent sells that doesn't qualify for the Upgrade Advantage program if they are allowing for the agency. All group rates, special agency deals, residency rates, casino offers, sail away promotions, latitude offers etc are ALL combinable with Upgrade Advantage. The only possible thing I can think of is that they consider the program a hassle and are marking up a rate and saying with that rate you can do the Upgrade Advantage program. Personally, I would steer clear. I am a travel agent and by no means am I promoting myself, I just have a problem with other agencies with shady policies and tactics.

  7. Yes I would definitely book a 100% nonsmoking ship. Would I pay extra? Depends on the actual ship and amenities and itinerary and length. I would think they wouldn't have a same exact class of ship doing the same exact itinerary out of the same port just 1 smoking and 1 nonsmoking, so the term paying a premium is subjective, especially since you "pay a premium" to sail on a nicer newer ship than an older ship typically.

  8. I noticed no one mentioned the huge con. You mentioned you booked refundable rate on the junior suite. All categories above junior suite are non refundable deposit only, so that may be a big consideration since you didn't book nonrefundable rate originally. Once you go to nonrefundable rate, your rate will stay under those rules no matter what. Have a wonderful cruise! It will be great no matter which type of room you end up choosing.

  9. If you purchased it, it won't show in your cart anymore. Only thing to be mindful of is if you used part or all of onboard credit from RCCL to pay for anything and then you change your rate which causes a reduction or loss of onboard credits. It SHOULD prompt you to take care of any deficit, but if you don't know to check or look at your email frequently it could be a problem.

  10. It depends how much time you are planning to spend in the casino and if you like a lot of alcoholic drinks poolside, really. If you drink most of your alcohol in the casino, I'd say it's unnecessary. If you drink a lot of drinks at dinner or the pool then you'd have to figure out still if it's enough to justify the price. Pretty much you have to drink 5 alcoholic drinks a person a day not in the casino to make it worth it.

  11. With Sailaway rate they are not guaranteeing a specific location or deck, only a type of room. You booked a balcony guarantee so you are agreeing to their terms and conditions of no room changes and understanding you could be assigned any deck, forward mid or aft, so yes, you are agreeing to have no choice in the matter. The cruiseline can assign a room as late at at the pier, but typically they will assign sooner than that. Just go into it knowing you will be on a beautiful ship in a balcony, bring earplugs if it's below or near something noisy and have a great time on the Norwegian Getaway!

  12. I have some clients sailing in June that were displaced for the opposite reason. I booked the two people in a room designed for two and RCCL advised recently (after they had been booked into this room for 9 months) they are adding a lot of berths to make the 2 person rooms hold 3 and they have changed their room to a different room since their old room was one of the rooms changed to now hold 3. From what I have been told, these new modified rooms aren't updated on the deck plans yet but can hold 3 now in former 2 passenger only categories so I am thinking this will start being a problem for many people if they are booked into these rooms but descriptions/deck plans aren't updated.

  13. As far as I am aware, any changes to your booking will auto cancel your bids from prepaying service charges (gratuities), changing room number or category (including gty rooms being assigned), adding or removing passengers etc. You should always be able to go back into the website and re-bid unless you are 48 hours or less from sailing.

  14. There are definitely some pros and cons to the Carnival Sunshine. Pros: AMAZING Serenity Deck(s)-best in fleet. Large variety of complimentary and specialty dining, plenty of activities. Cons:Public areas feel crowded since they added rooms during refurb, taking away much needed space, anytime dining has extremely long waits (we waited 45 minutes on average nightly to be called with long lines just to get our beeper), ship is kind of small IMO. Itinerary doesn't look bad, definitely wouldn't cancel or pay fees to change sail date over that. Would maybe recommend doing an excursion to avoid any unpleasant sights like before. Have fun!!
