@FloatingFour What ended up happening with this situation?  A friend of mine just answered yes to a runny nose likely due to allergies (she has tested negative for Covid this week) and now it won't let her go further in the health assessment for her or her daughter.  Curious if you were able to cruise

Following up to answer my own question for others-- re: our friend who answered yes to the runny nose question on the health screening 3 days before our cruise (she wasn't able to finish the assessment.) She was expecting to get "flagged" for further screening at the port but was waved right on through the line after she showed her negative tests and CDC vax cards.  No additional hoops to jump through at Port Canaveral

Please forgive me as I am still trying to understand….but, why not just take the test at Walgreens or cvs and get the results from them?

I couldn't find a rapid test option at any CVS or Walgreens near me a few months ago when I started to research what I needed to cruise, so I ordered a box of these kits.  (This was at the height of omicron when testing was very hard to come by.)    Things have improved since then but when it was time for my cruise, I still couldn't find a convenient location for the rapid test so I just went ahead with the e-med test and it was great and easy to do from my own home.

  3. Chiming in to say it's a real good idea to have an extra on hand....  b/c sometimes the person taking the test forgets to ensure his laptop has plenty of battery left on it and the computer will die in the middle of the 15 minute waiting period.... which means you have to start over.  Ask my husband how he knows  🙂

  4. 4.  Once through the terminal, we took our masks off and didn't need them on the boat.  Masks were only worn by staff on the boat.  There were 3 masks provided in our state room.  We needed them for disembark through the terminal and also as you walked through the Duty Free shops at the ports.

    6.  Just returned from a cruise yesterday-   I went to great lengths to use Verifly and submit all the paperwork there before we went.  Our check in guy didn't care-- still looked every single hard copy document up and down.  Our friends in the next stall said their check in guy was thrilled with their Verifly and whisked them right on through with a quick glance at the app (which was pure luck b/c he had forgotten to bring his actual vaccine card with him-- just had the picture on his phone and had it loaded into Verifly.)

I haven't gotten a letter either...sail on 3-21...although I chatted with a representative via twitter who im'd me the letter.  I am wondering if the delay is because I booked via costco.

I also booked through Costco and have not gotten the letter;  I did find on another thread that you can cancel/reschedule through a web link instead of spending hours on the phone.  We are supposed to sail on Monday; waiting until that magic 3 day mark before I make my decision official

There is a Carnival facebook group and someone recently posted a video with one of the Camp Ocean Directors. She said that as a rule of thumb, they will let kids move "up or down" one year on a trial basis. It sounds like as mentioned above, your best bet is to go talk to the staff the first night but based off what this employee said, it sounds like your kiddo will be able to move up!

That's exactly what the Camp Carnival director told me on the Fantasy-- if they are less than a year out from moving up into the next age group, she will usually let them do it (as space allows).

  7. We just got off the Carnival Fantasy on Thursday and they let my son who was 11 1/2 go into the 12-14 year old club with his friends.  It's up to the Camp Carnival staff -- just depends on how many kids they have in there at the time.   It wasn't a problem at all on that cruise.

  8. Regarding the liquids in a checked bag: I've seen the way they toss those bags around and stack them in those giant bins with many suitcases on top of each other.... seems problematic for a can of carbonation which I've seen explode under less strenuous circumstances. So-- just because I may be able to get away with putting it in my checked bag, I may not want to if it runs the risk of exploding all over my other items or other peoples' items if their suitcases are under mine.

  9. We were on the Valor in April for that same itinerary and had a wonderful time as well! I could have written the exact same review you did, marseelee! We loved Brandon as the CD-- the decade trivia nights were a blast! We also had trouble navigating our way from the back of the ship (Deck 1) to dinner on Deck 5-- up and down the stairs a few times to get to the right pass-through. By the final night, we were pro's but sadly had to leave right when we got good at it. Ha! Glad you had a fun cruise!
