  1. I know with Carnival's Cheers option, drinks in a souvenir glass are not included, which bumps out your drinks of the day. But I also know you can always just order the drink of the day in a regular glass. In that case, would the drink of the day fall under the Cheers guidelines, or is it drinks of the day aren't included no matter what?

Is it okay if I assume your sister is an adult? Will she really b e all kinds of excited for birthday decorations in her cabin? if your decorations leave any a marks on twalls, be prepared to get a bill for repairs. Also keep in mind the steward has to clean the cabin superiors do inspections. When putting o ut your decorations, try to not make his/her work harder .

Yes, she's an adult. The graduation is college. And she's usually excited about party type stuff, and at the very least excited about cake, lol.

  3. the inside decorations are a bit pricy, but they are fire retardant and that has become a requirement for any decorations. I paid for the bon voyage package for my daughter's cruise, along with a cake and it made a very nice surprise and the cake was very good!!

    Thank you!

The more I look at it, the more the packages might not be so bad. Since you get the decorations, plus a towel and a picture frame and a cake or something for like $50. It might definitely be worth it.

  4. I appreciate that people have a lot of feelings about door decorations, but I've still only gotten a few responses with information/opinions on decorations INSIDE the cabin, and how to make it a surprise for my sister. TBH, I'm really not trying to get in the middle of whatever wars people are waging about doors.

  5. You're new here and not aware that door decorations are a hot topic. Some people love them because it personalizes their space. Others loath them because it looks like junk. Carnival has decoration packages for sale because 1) they meet IMO flame retardant requirements and 2) they wanted to get a handle on some of the way over the top decorations that were lining the hallways. Fire always has been and still is one of the most serious situations that can occur on a ship.

Be VERY careful not to do anything that will damage your sister's cabin, like using tape or adhesive that could pull off the wall panel finishes. About five years ago red adhesive stickers were popular cabin Christmas decorations. The stickers caused an orange red dye to seep into the wall panels and permanently discolor them. Per the booking contract, passengers are responsible for any damage done to their cabin. Those cabins were charged between $5000 and $7500 for wall panel replacement.

Now that I'm looking, I'm seeing a lot on door decorations. I was wanting to decorate inside the cabin, though. Not sure I'd want to risk anything that gets put on the door being ripped off and me being pissed or going off on someone, and her being disappointed someone ruined her decorations. I may just have to get over the need for it to be a surprise. :-/ We'll see as the cruise gets closer, lol

  6. The shindiz one is good. You can decorate the door incognito. We did this when our son got engaged last September. We knew he was asking her at dinner and stopped our steward and see if he would be in on the surprise. While we were at dinner, he hung the banner. (yes we thanked him well). When we went back after dinner to change, they were both surprised.

    Shindigz?

  7. I've booked a cruise for August sailing out of Mobile on the Carnival Fantasy. The trip is a graduation present for my sister (it will be her first cruise, my third), and I wanted to surprise her and decorate the cabin. The only way I can think of for it to be a surprise is to get one of the decorations packages from Carnival. They seem to be a bit pricey, especially for something I know I could do myself a lot cheaper and when one of the occasion options isn't even graduation. Does anyone have an opinion on them?

  8. You may want to post this over at the Carnival board.

We witnessed a family complain about them (birthday) being a rip off on our Vista cruise.

I know some people prefer to put a gift in the cabin (bought from Carnival or placed themselves). You could also order a iced message cake with graduation on or whatnot. Carnival occasion cakes are apparently quite nice. Check out the other sections in Bon Voyage.

You could also 'sneak off' on embark day and do it yourself for a cheaper and more personal touch...which is personally what I would do if it were me.

Thanks, I will try over there too! That was my first thought, but as of now it's just me and her going. I've invited other family, so there may be more. But if it's just us me sneaking off is going to be pretty obvious, lol
