  1. We are scheduled to board the Odyssey in Aruba next week and I would like to know what the covid testing protocol is after boarding.  I understand the pre-boarding requirements and the pier-side testing, however, I don't know when they test once the cruise is underway.  Can anyone that sailed in Caribbean recently left me know how testing was handled on your cruise.  Is testing required for certain ports, every so many days, only with symptoms, etc?  Thank you!

  2. We are planning to book Viking Grand European Tour for May.  Viking is currently offering free airfare. Reading through forum it appears air arranged by Viking is not always easiest most direct route. Can I upgrade the free air to air plus?  Wondering if others have used free air and if it was ok?  I can use points and get good flights but hate to pass up free air. This is our first river cruise and first time on Viking (we were booked on Crystal). Thanks for advise!!

  3. As we gear up for retirement we want to experience a smaller ship. We typically have cruised RCL and Celebrity. We’re looking at Odyssey in April from Aruba and we’re wondering about night time entertainment. We don’t care about big production shows but like live music such as piano bar or guitar player/singer. We like to stay out a bit late (midnight or so). Any info on nightly entertainment appreciated. Thanks.

  4. I am schedule to depart on Viking Sea Feb 15 from San Juan. I received email saying I will receive Health Questionnaire that all Viking guests are required to complete prior to travel within next 3 days. Can someone tell me the specific questions that are ask on this health questionnaire. Thank you.

    Dear Viking Guest,

Thank you for booking your upcoming journey with Viking. As we prepare to welcome you on board, we want to advise you of a new component to the Viking Health & Safety Program.

As you know, all guests must be vaccinated prior to boarding our ships. As such, we will need to verify your COVID-19 vaccination status. To expedite the embarkation process, Viking has partnered with Verifly, an independent third-party vendor, to digitally pre-verify your vaccination status through their app.

Please note, some airlines and countries are also using the VeriFLY app. The verification process is separate for each travel carrier or destination. If you have completed the VeriFLY process for your airline, you will need to create a VeriFLY pass for Viking as well.

Please complete the vaccination verification for your Viking voyage, no later than seven days prior to your departure, by following the steps below.

  6. I’m scheduled on Viking cruise out of San Juan on 2/25/22. I received email from Viking this morning saying I needed to complete Verifly at least 7 days prior to the cruise. It says I must do one specifically for cruise, if one has been done for airline I must still complete it for Viking.

  7. Thanks for info. I did send an email on Monday and I have not received a response to it. I called Viking again today and was told the price for transfers is $49 per person each way. It may not be a private shuttle and will vary based on if other passengers are arriving or departing airport at the same time.   You much complete a Transfer Request form at least 30 days prior to sailing. Viking agent will email this form upon request.

I may go with the shuttle mentioned above  because it appears to be $56 total each way. If anyone has pros or cons for taking Viking shuttle, please let me know. Thanks again!

  8. We are scheduled to sail 2/15 on Viking Sea out of San Juan and I arranged our air travel. Does anyone know about how much Viking transfers are from San Juan airport to ship?  I called Viking and they require I send an email to get costs. Just wondering if better to do Viking transfers or taxi/Uber. Thank you.

  9. We are new to Viking and plan to cruise in Feb 2022 to West Indies in Caribbean. The excursions for our cruise opened for me and several excursions I was planning to book are already sold out. Will Viking add additional slots/options for these excursions. I was really looking forward to the Escape to Jost Van Dyke in Tortola. Anyone know of a reputable local tour group that does this same type catamaran sail?  Thank you!

  10. Thank you all!  I will take another look at menus and maybe make some reservations in MDR.

Hey AlohaLivin - so good to hear from you. We are doing well and super excited to be sailing again. We leave next Saturday on Symphony. It would be great to cruise with you guys again!  Hope you guys are surviving these crazy times. Tell your hubby hi.

  11. We are set to sail on Symphony of Seas on Oct 30. Can anyone that has sailed recently let me know if the Schooner Bar has the nightly piano player. Is he/she good and does the piano bar still have a fun vibe. We’ve enjoyed many a late nights in the piano bar and hope it hasn’t changed too much. Also, is there other live music options aboard now?  Thank you very much.

  12. We are planning our first small ship cruise and our first 14 day cruise on Odyssey from Barbados in February. It stops on a new island every day. Is it common to schedule excursion every day?  I think I read they offer some free excursions, what type activity is typical on these?  How often do they have the Marina out so you can do activities off back of boat?  We enjoy a few ship days so I’m wondering how we do it. Thank you!!
