  1. I hope you did the dives and enjoyed them! They are a great way to get into diving!

The other advantage of doing the discover scuba dives is that if you decide to get your dive certification, you can count the discover scuba dives toward your open water dive requirement (at least for PADI).

If I recall you need your discover scuba dive instructor or the dive shop to register your dives and you need to do the certification within a certain period of time after.

  2. My favorite so far is on the Big Island in Hawaii, the snorkelling at Two Step south of Kona is fantastic! Lots to see (fish, turtles, sometimes Monk seals and dolphins).

Plus it is right beside Pu'uhonua O Honaunau National Historical Park, which has some amazing historical sites and lots of parking.

  3. Hi pacruise,

My wife and I were in the same position in terms of wanting to get snorkel gear a while back. We both ended up getting each getting one of the sets from USDivers at a local sporting goods store. (I got this and my wife got this set). We both actually prefer her fins, they are smaller and pack easier!

We were happy with the quality, and extra parts are easy to find, especially for the fins.

As for never feeding the fish, the other posters are on the mark. It can make them aggressive and I know I certainly wouldn't want to have my hand nipped by a parrot fish (they have jaws that can bite through coral!).
