  1. We did a Princess 10 day cruise 12 years ago. We did have a good time. The fact that it was 10 days meant a much older crowd. The one bartender joked with us that the average age was dead. My Wife, myself and the couple we came with were the only ones in the bars after 10PM. The longer the cruise the older the crowd.

  2. We have bought many pieces from Ajanta Jewelers in St Thomas. We have had everything appraised once we got home and has always been appraised for double what we paid for it. Now I will say it has been probably 10 years since we have been there, but they still send us post cards.

They did give us great service also. My wife's diamond fell out shortly after we got one piece, we sent it back they fixed it no charge and sent it back, no questions asked.

I think they actually have a store in New York now.

  3. We were on the adventure 15 years ago, 5 years ago and we are going on her again next year. The promenade rooms are great you can watch the parade or just see what is going on. The Adventure will seem like a mega ship compared to any Carnival ship. You will have a blast go and enjoy.

  4. We would really rather cruise RCCL, but our last 4 cruises have been on Carnival because of cost (family vacations). We did the Sunshine last year, it was a southern Caribbean cruise and we really had a good time. The ship is in really good shape. The crew was fantastic in fact we saw a couple of them on the Dream this year and they remembered us.

The ship is smaller and cut up kind of weird but it is easy to navigate.

You will have a good time don't worry about it.

  5. just got off the Dream. The pasta place is on deck 11 above the buffet. If you want something else it really depends on what time you get on the ship. Guy's did have a line but it was never too long of a wait. The Blue Iguana was pretty quick also. The buffet lines were long and moved slow all week.

  6. Our last 3 cruises have been on these 2 ships. The Conquest twice followed by the Sunshine. They each have there pluses and minuses, but they are very similar in a lot of ways. It depends on what is important to you. The Sunshine does have a much better Serenity area if you want that. The Conquest has a second pool if you want that.

  7. Cool, I'll probably just go to the location at the port then! I want to get at least 1 kind of rum (maybe 2), all the flavors sound so interesting online, have to get the mango one for sure, maybe the lime, and I do want the BBQ sauce and the jerk spice. I can never try jerk chicken or whatever in the Caribbean because I'm a vegetarian, so I was excited when I saw the jerk seasoning so I could flavor my tofu with it and finally see what the big deal about it is, lol...

We really like the jerk seasoning. We usually get multiple bottles of it and multiple of the BBQ so they last us at least a year or longer until we can get back there. The guavaberry rum is really good. Get a Guavaberry colada on the beach they are fantastic.

  8. There is one on the pier, but the main one is in downtown Philipsburg. I have spent lots of money in there over the years. Last time they actually gave me a free t-shirt because we spent over a $100 and we brought multiple people in who also spent money. The Rum is very good and the spices and BBQ sauce and good also.

  9. I agree with just about everyone else you cannot go wrong with either of these. Do you want to have a really busy cruise with 6 port days or a more relaxing cruise with 5 port days.

When we were younger we always went for more ports, but as we have gotten older we do enjoy relaxing by the pool on sea days more than we used too.

Good luck with your choice and you will have a great time no matter which you choose.

  10. Looking at an 8 day on Freedom or a 7 day on Allure.

The islands are very similar and we have been to them all so they are not a big deal in our decision.

The 8 days on Freedom will be an inside cabin, but $500 less going to

St Maarten, St Kitts, San Juan, Labadee

Allure will be a boardwalk balcony $500 more. Going to

    St Thomas, St Maarten, Nassau

The question is: is Allure worth $500 more for a balcony, but with 1 less day?

  11. If you go to the same places all the time try to have the same server wait on you. They will give you better service and remember your card number and you will not even need your cards. We hang out on the pool deck a lot and our server would not even come over he would just look at us and make a motion to see if we needed a drink. If we gave him a thumbs up 2 drinks would be on the way.

If you go to the bar you have to have your cards because the bartenders must swipe them, but the servers do not need your card just your folio number.
