Yes it’s open. My kids were just there in January on the Mardi Gras and loved it. Can I answer any specific questions for you about it? My twins were 4 on our cruise.

Good to know! How did your kids like it? I have a 2 year old and a 5 year old and this will be their first cruise. Was the programming engaging for them? I also understand that they do not go to any water activities during camp...is that right?

  2. Ship - Conquest

    Deck - Upper (6)

    Stateroom # - 6414

    Stateroom Category – 8A Balcony

Starboard or Port Side - Port Side

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Very close to the elevators but we heard no noise! Was quiet and relaxing. Loved the convenience of the cabin's location. Also has no issues with the clubs and fun spots being on Deck 5 under us. There was literally no noise. We loved it.

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Balcony View - View was lovely. If you leaned over and looked directly below you, you can see the orange lifeboats attached to the ship, but if you're just looking out at sea, you cannot see it. Nothing obstructed the views. Loved to be port side - we saw the islands as we arrived/left and it was fantastic.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - It was our first cruise so I assume it was normal sized? Was spacious enough for 4 people to stand out there. Had two chairs and a small table. Didn't feel that it was small.

Was wind a problem? - No, didn't notice any wind issues.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - Cabin was technically aft (the first aft cabin on the deck floorplan) but we had no soot issues.

Any specific problems with this cabin? - Nothing in particular. The balcony's paint was peeling a bit but it didn't really bother us. Cabin was spacious and clean. Perfect location - pretty easy walk to everything on the ship. Renoir dining room was nice!

Any other comments? - We absolutely loved our first cruise and are HOOKED! Can't wait to go again!

  3. Great review! We're sailing on Conquest May 19 and it's our first time cruising. I am a little worried about it being an "older" ship. I know you said it was in great shape, but did you notice anything that was outdated or lacking? Anything that seemed dirty or just old? For our first cruise, we didn't want to spend a ton on a new ship, so just testing the waters here! Thanks!

  4. The OP said their cabin is an aft balcony port side. I don’t think they have a true aft balcony. Just a balcony on the back end of the ship, port side.

OP here. You're right. I don't think it's classified as an AFT balcony, so sorry for the confusion. We're just the first cabin classified in the "aft" part of the ship...make sense?

  5. First time cruisers here. We have an upcoming cruise in May on the Conquest. We're currently in the first "aft" balcony room on Deck 6 (Upper), port side...got an offer to upgrade to another balcony room on Deck 10 (Panorama) or Deck 9 (Lido) for just $40. Those rooms would be forward. Starboard on Lido and either starboard or port side on Panorama. Should we upgrade? I'm worried about the motion being forward...also worried about the noise that may come with being on decks with some action. We're traveling with another couple who is also on Deck 6 with us, so not sure if moving away would cause an issue with us meeting up? Thanks in advance!
