  1. Sailing on 16th June.   Applied on May 28th - 3 travelers within minutes of each other.

Received approvals on 3rd June, 7th June and 8th June.

If the order of submission was 1,2,3 then approvals related to them came as 3,1,2. Not sure what the logic is in the process, but its done so I'm good with it.

  2. Sadly, Putin is showing signs of being a bit unhinged, and who knows what rogue navy commanders might be out there. I would caution anyone to think twice about being on a ship anywhere in the Baltic in the near future whilst we wait to see how things pan out over the coming weeks. Plenty of Russian Ships and Subs you will be sharing those waters with.

Overdramatic maybe, but it is becoming clear that Putin is not being driven by rational factors in his desire to exercise his power.

  3. After consulting with the family, we are canceling. It hurts as we had a great rate on balcony cabins but travel these days requires some commitment. We were most looking forward to trying a new ship and visiting Grand Turk but, ultimately, we all came to the same conclusion that with the downgrade of ship, we just aren't as excited about this cruise anymore and we no longer consider it to be worth the effort to travel from the North East for a 5 day cruise.

I hope everyone gets good reassignments, and that Grand Turk survives the changes. Good Luck all.

  4. Sold my remaining RCL and CCL stock this morning - my personal view of the recovery for the cruiselines has changed for the worse, so I will take my ~20% return over 4 weeks and sit on the sidelines for now, ready to jump back in if warranted.

Having originally been of the opinion that some return to cruising would begin July/August -  I am now having difficulty seeing cruises restarting within the next 6 months - and there is so many variables at play, I fully expect cruise stocks to retest recent lows and even then, I can't say I would jump back in in the absence of a more positive outlook for a return normality.

I'm okay with that, good for the Senate.  Why should my tax $$ go to bailout a non American company who mostly employs non Americans?  I'm sorry the workers are getting sent home, but I think the cruise lines should make them whole,  not us.

    Maybe this is why......

With increased embarkations come increased onshore spending. In 2018, cruise lines, their passengers and crew spent a record $23.96 billion in the United States—a 33 percent increase since 2010. Additionally, 2018 saw a new peak in the cruise industry’s U.S. expenditures, generating 421,711 jobs across the United States and contributing more than $23.15 billion in wages and salaries, a nearly 13 percent increase since 2016.

  6. RCL (and Carnival) are in complete denial if they think they can continue operations much longer - the number of positive cases in the US is going to skyrocket in the coming days.....and along with that - the risk of someone carrying the virus onto a cruise ship will increase dramatically.

So sad, but I don't see any alternative but to suspend at least through end of April, but more likely it will need to be longer than that.

    Here is the story

    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-51810673

Quotes from the story if you don't care to follow the link:

Mr Conte described the measures as "I stay home" - with people forbidden to assemble in public. (*a bit more strict than advice as you called it)

"No more nightlife; we can't allow this anymore since they are occasions for contagion," he said.

The restrictions are similar to those earlier applied to the worst affected Lombardy region, and 14 other provinces.

A bit more strict than you are representing. Misrepresenting statement in an under-dramatic fashion isn't what anyone needs right now either.

yes - the bbc have expanded on the story since the news first broke. Nonetheless, italians are free to go to work, to go about their necessary daily business, but forbidden to gather in public places or engage in air travel without justification.

these are some stringent measures for sure, but I still maintain that a statement such as '60m people in quarantine' was over the top.

But up to the point of the interview, there should have been a lowest point.  I understand that in the future he may sink lower, but when the interviewer asked the question, Anello said he hadn't hit it. To me, that meant that he felt his lowest point has yet to come.  And to me, that meant his lowest point will be what ends up happening to him.

Ok - I think I see what you mean. When asked the question an expected response might have been  'I have just lost my granddaughter, I can't get much lower than that'.  The way he responded does, I suppose' seem odd in the cold light of day.

Shouldn't the low point be when she died?  Her death should have been the low point, regardless of how she died.

At the time of any tragic incident you experience shock, anger, possibly fear of retribution and many other emotions that do not enable true reflection. In this instance, Anello also has a complete circus being created by lawyers trying to absolve him/ minimise his responsibility, and creating a distorted view of what really happened.

It is not unusual for the 'low point' to come many months or even years after the event, and can be triggered by anything that causes one to reflect and remember the events of the tragedy and the pain and loss can overwhelm.

If Anello is able to convince himself that he is not at fault, and he retains the support of the family then maybe he can escape such a low - but I suspect that may not be the case.

Oh my gosh!  I was on a cruise a few years back (Carnival Breeze) and I experienced huge delays for this same charter group  getting off the ship just like you stated, JaxsMama.  My husband and I were moved from one area of the terminal to another and then to another - we didn't board until after 2:00 and we are Platinum.  Lucky for me I had a few snacks with me in my carry-on bag.  Guess what?  We are going on Carnival Magic, but our cruise is in a few weeks so we shouldn't have a problem.  I hope all goes well for the cruisers boarding next Sunday!

Oh no - guess who will be one of those boarding next Sunday....I better be onboard with cocktail in hand before 2pm.

  11. Anyone have the reward take longer than a day to post after they paid? I made a payment on my upcoming cruise 3-4 days ago, immediately received the e-mail that I had used the AMEX offer, but still no credit. I'm getting worried now since others said it credited the next day.

Should show up soon......I made a payment 5 days ago, and the $150 credit showed up this morning. :D

  12. It won't be cancelled. Delay or change port is your best hope. We made it to SJ after Irma to board last Sat. We didn't know until Thursday and they have promised news today.

I wouldn't be so sure - the airport is closed at least until Friday night. If it does re-open, it will most likely be on a reduced schedule. A lot of folks will have planned on flying in on Friday and will have next to no chance of getting re-scheduled to Sat or even Sun.

Adventure may or may not be able to get into port - but can RCCL dump thousands of passengers into a disaster area with many flights out canceled and reduced hotel capacity?

  13. Hi,

We are due to embark on Adventure of the Seas on 23rd, flying from UK via Madrid tomorrow, awaiting update from RCI tonight, does anyone have any information yet as to whether it will dock at Miami?

According to the link a few posts above, SJU is closed at least until Friday night, so I guess your flight from Madrid won't be happening. Hopefully, RCCL make a decision real soon.

  14. This happens all the time. Carnival and RCCL do this as well. Stop being so childish with this I'm not going to cruise on NCL. Airlines cancel flights with very short notice- are you not going fly again.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

As far as I know, airlines don't cancel flights because 'XYZ Corp' decide they want the plane to themselves. If cruiselines make a commercial decision to cancel a cruise, there should be compensation due to those passengers already booked.
