How much is the subscription to aarp? It’s worth the discounts? And I don’t have to be 50?

It costs nothing to go to the site, sign up and start earning points.  You don't have to be 50.  If you are a member, you can earn more points.

  2. So it’s not for good service it’s extortion.

    Yup.

I sailed out of Canaveral two years ago. Longshoremen were more worried about a tip than moving my bags. Came at us with a sign saying "We accept tips." That blew any chance of me giving them one.

The tags were removed from two of the three bags we had. We had to go to an unclaimed bag room, full of luggage from others who I imagine also didn't tip.

  3. I called my PVP and she confirmed that we won't lose our OBC on these upsell offers. You do have to pay for the upgrade when you accept it (which confirms in my mind that this mass upsell we're seeing is a end of year cash grab for Carnival).

I've got an upgrade from balcony to spa balcony for $142 (7 days) sitting on the burner that I'm going to snap up.

  4. I am a cruise newbie -- how do you get Carnival to contact you with an upgrade offer? Is there a list I can ask to be put on? or do they offer it only to former customers who are at an elite level? We have a oceanview cabin booked in February for the Caribbean. It's a busy time of year but there are still plenty of expensive balcony cabins + higher, still showing as available. I'd love to be offered one at a discount.

I don't know of any list. Last year I booked an OV and two days before sailing I got an upsell to a Balcony. We went gold on that sailing. Good thing I answered the phone. :)

  5. So, do the spa rooms come with a spa package? I’m a newbie so please explain!

Spa cabins give access to two guests in the room to the spa. The exception is if you booked a guarantee and you ended up with a spa room. Softer colors, big fluffy bathrobes and slippers too.

My wife noted that the $142 we're spending for the upgrade would be offset by her not being in the casino. That's pretty good logic if you ask me.

  6. I just got an email offer to upgrade my balcony to a higher deck or to the spa. Don't care for the higher deck offer, but the spa balcony is $142. A 7 day spa pass is $139 pp, so it's a pretty good deal. I just want to make sure I don't lose the OBC I've got from the original offer I booked under.

  7. My method for saving is to purchase the discounted carnival gift cards through AARP and Allstate, then that money is set aside for my cruise, I have saved 10% overall on my spending and if I don't use all of them I can use it to put a deposit on my next cruise.

THIS. Don't bother with Cruise Cash, and instead buy gift cards at a discount and apply them at check in. Buy $100 cards for $90 or $500 cards for $450 (it's also a great way to save 10% off the price of your cruise... use them for your down payment and to pay off your balance).

  8. Yeah that's what they do, we just spin a buck now and never had an issue since. Do they still charge at the tables to use your sign and sail? What's it like 2 or 3 percent? It would pay to spin a buck in that case it'll save a ton of money in fees

It's 3% at the tables, which is nothing more than a crime of opportunity.

  9. I got Jacksonville to Bahamas for 5 nights, free just pay port taxes. Booked knowing I couldn't go but it was birthday gift for my mother.

Next day Port Canaveral to Bahamas, 4 nights, $50 pp, 50 OBC. Booked, took my wife for her birthday.

You were able to book and not go? Your name did not have to go on the booking?

My mother didn't get the offer, only I did, so my name had to be on the booking to get the deal. I even tried changing the name after the fact to substitute someone in my place but I got an error message saying no one in the cabin had the offer.

So she went alone. I got my half of the taxes refunded. Grand total was $87.19, and mom was quite happy.

  10. I was on Fascination two weeks ago. I moved $200 to my player bank using a slot machine, then went to the cage to cash it out to use on the tables.

Later that day I did the same for $100. I was pulled aside while they waited for someone to remove the hold on my S&S card. They asked if I'd transferred and cashed out and I told them yes. They said I couldn't do that and that I had to play some of that money or else my S&S would be put on hold again.

  11. Looks like you're possibly going to Cozumel?

Took my wife to Nachi-Cocom when we were there a few years back. Spent the day at the beach, food and drink all included.

After a full body massage I poured her into a hammock. A great place to be after a massage.

A good day spent, much better deal.

  12. That sounds pretty much like the standard future cruise deal (after the 2 category upgrade, isn't it?). So if it's not correct you should still be under Early Saver and can switch it to the Future Cruise deal and get that $50 OBC. We just booked under that deal. Our balcony shows $909, which is $200+ less than Fun Select, which is $1129 pp.

Either way, switch the booking to Future Cruise and you'll see the savings you're expecting.

Make sure you change it within 2 weeks of the end of the cruise you just took, or else that offer disappears.

  13. It's a cruise line fer cryin' out loud. Of course the jobs are overseas.

Either way, find your cruise and start to book.

    BOOKMARK THE PAGE.

Now to check prices, you don't have to go thru a dozen drop down menus and a captcha. Just click, click, click and you have your answer.
