  1. Thanks for your replies. I spoke with an agent when I first filed and was told they are so backed up with claims that I shouldn't even check the status for 30 days. I checked this  morning and the claim has been assigned to someone for review. I also received verification from American Airlines that the Springfield flight was delayed by weather. So I guess it is just a waiting game now.

  2. I asked about filing a claim with Celebrity and didn't give enough info, so here it is. I did purchase trip insurance through Celebrity (Cruise Care) I also purchased air transportation with Flights by Celebrity. The flight schedule was Springfield MO to Chicago connecting to LAX on American Airlines leaving on Nov. 5, sailing that afternoon. The flight from Springfield was delayed so long that we arrived in Chicago too late to board the connecting flight to LAX. The next available flight wasn't until after 1 p.m. which would have put us in LA after the ship had sailed.

I've filed  a claim through AON travel claims who handles claims for Celebrity. I have no way to upload the data they requested so I faxed the documents to them on 11/8 but have not heard anything back as yet. I hope this info is enough for anyone who has had a similar experience to give me an idea of what to expect.

    Thanks for your help.

  3. My first cruise. 1990. Flew from where I was living in Hawaii and sailed solo Mexican Riviera out of LA. Even though the jubilee was much smaller than ships today, it the first cruise ship I had ever seen and I remember being so amazed at how big it was. Good memories from that cruise and been cruising ever sense.

  4. Just an update on our cabin location. I was able to move us up one deck and back closer to the aft elevators. Should be a lot quieter and also less of a walk to the buffet and the aft dining room. We have some mild mobility issues and walking from one end of the ship to the other can be difficult. So glad we were able to change cabins.

  5. Thanks to all who responded to my question. We are a couple of senior ladies who are early to rise and fairly early to bed so I'm going to see if I can change cabins. Our cruise is not until next year so there should still be cabins available.

Thanks again all you cool cruisers

  6. I'll be on the Carnival Dream visiting Belize. How long does it take to tender into port from the ship and how long is the typical wait to get on the tender.

    Thanks in advance for info.

  7. WOW! I certainly never expected a multitude of varying responses to my simple statement of my PERSONAL preference. My comment on paper plates was an (apparently unappreciated) attempt at a little humor.

I gave no indication that no tablecloths would ruin my cruise or that I would choose a different line. (I've sailed all of them)

For the poster who was so kind as to stand up for me, Thank You. I have rarely posted anything on these boards and considering the unkind comments I think that is a good idea going forward.

    Happy sailing to you all.

  8. I am so disappointed to learn that the Dream does not use tablecloths in the MDRs. What's next? Paper plates and Red Solo cups?

One of the things I look forward to on cruises is going to dinner each night in an upscale setting. There isn't anything like that available in the town where I live. The ambiance of a formal dining room is so enjoyable. This change will definitely be unappreciated on my Dream cruise coming up next year.

Shame on Carnival for eliminating one more of the "niceties" of cruising.
