  1. Hello,

We are anxiously awaiting our cruise in a little over a week. But as I prepare documents and check in, I am worried...

So my daughter is adopted from Russia. Long story short, she has a US passport card. However her birth certificate and proof of citizenship are like GOLD to us and are in Russian (along with English translation). If we lose it, we're gonna have a hell of a time replacing it. Therefore, that goes without saying that we only have 1 original copy.

We would rather not bring it, but understand if we absolutely have to.

Can anyone give me some suggestions? Could we just get away with bringing the passport card?

    Thanks in advance!!!

    Melissa

  2. Does anyone know if Liberty of the Seas has Luggage Valet? I thought it was only a select few cruise ships that still did this anymore...

I'm in the same boat (HAHA!) and our flight doesn't leave Houston/Hobby until 10pm. So we need to find luggage storage and fill our day with activities.

  3. I did hear back from my TA and she had RC on her other line. The rep she spoke with seemed very helpful. But in the end, to switch me to 2 cabins (double occupancy), RC would have had to charge me a $1,000 cancellation fee. The RC rep tried to get around it, but ultimately couldn't.

In the end, I decided I was done fishing around for another cabin. It was making my head spin. So we kept what we got.

Next time though, I will know better. No TA.

Thank you everyone for your help and input. I appreciate it!

  4. I hope she got two balcony rooms! Should have booked two rooms to begin with. This is the reason I can’t bring myself to use a TA .

Well we won't be using a TA again, that's for sure. I can easily do this myself.

I will hear back from my TA in a soon. I wish I was given the option to reserve two rooms in the first place. I'm really worried about RC charging me a change fee if we turn our quad into 2 rooms.

  5. I don't think 6400 and 6402 are balcony. If they are OV your total price will likely be less than what you have paid already and you can't get difference back.

Online if you search double occupancy balcony, those cabins by default won't have sofa bed (I suppose they are all category 2D). I can see there are still plenty on deck 6 that are next to each other mid ship (# 6632, 6634, 6642, 6644, 6332, 6334, 6336) and then a bit forward (#6572, 6574, 6266, 6268, 6280, 6282)

You are correct, 6400 & 6402 are not balcony. Which I'm fine with. These two rooms are "spacious OV"

  6. So I spoke with my TA... she called RC. I told her I found two rooms (6400 & 6402) that would work for our family.

She said that RC didn't see these rooms available (yet, I did a search again and found them after I got off the phone). So RC looked for other rooms and found a set of connecting rooms with just twin beds. I told my TA that we would really prefer a room with a sofa bed for our son. My TA said that RC told her they can't book a room with a sofa bed with only double occupancy.

Is this true? And why couldn't RC see the two rooms I found?

  7. I’m actually shocked that the TA wouldn’t take the time to check, or didn’t know how to check.

I'm shocked too. I spoke with them earlier this week and asked if we were eligible for the current promotion and was told no. Then I see this....

So, let's say RC can change me to 2 cabins instead of one. I've already paid in full. What happens with the difference in money? Because this new deal has me saving over $1,000.

Also, is there anyway I can just call RC myself and be done with the TA? I hate to do it, cuz we are friends... but my gut is saying something isn't right. Telling me I will have a change fee, when I see I won't and so forth. :(:(

  8. Wait... I need more help.

My TA said the ship was sold out. Then I looked this up. Would this come up of the ship was sold out? And if be saving over $1,000!

    So what do I do?

  9. Does this cabin have a sofabed and a Pullman? Typically, there is a sofabed that sleeps two, so that 15 yr old will be sleeping with the little sister unless you plan on giving up the main bed.

It just has a sofa bed. Which we knew...

So we are prepared to share the bed with her. But worst comes to worst, we will have a pool air mattress and possibly a small air mattress (it's smaller than a twin - depending on suitcase space).

  10. Have your travel agent call Royal. I just checked and a balcony cabin 2D for 2 people is $2764. See if they will allow you to get 2 cabins without any penalties. It would only be an extra $64 and you would get double the space, 2 bathrooms and a proper bed for all.

Did your travel agent suggest getting 2 cabins (they should have) it is usually comparable in price to fitting 4 in one room.

I don't think they did suggest two rooms. Although this would be ideal! However, our youngest is 10 and she won't get along with her brother for extended periods of time. Especially if the room isn't connected. Our son tho is 15 and would prefer to not have his little sister hanging around. But that is a great deal and seems more worth it than cramming all of us in one room.

  11. That cruise right now is 5425.84 for two adults and two children in a oceanview balcony cabin. You really havent overpaid. Its the time of year you are cruising.

Wow! Well, that makes me feel a bit better!

Let's say I want to cruise again - can I, hypothetically speaking, get a better deal if I plan a cruise now for July of 2019 or 2020?

  12. So hubby and I bought this cruise back in February - and we are leaving in July. We overpaid - I'm sure of it. It's us and our 2 kids on a oceanview balcony. I won't tell you what we paid, because quite frankly I'm embarrassed.

We thought this would be a cheap, easy way to vacation. Our kids are getting older and have separate interests. And a cruise would have something for everyone.

Anyway... I know many of you plan your cruises months, even years in advance and pay significantly less than what we did. I worry hubby won't want to do this again...

So can anyone share their secrets?

And just a quick sidebar - we can only travel in the summer. For the most part, July is our best month. I know - this is high peak time. But hubby is a teacher and we don't want our kids to miss school.

    Thanks in advance!!!

    Melissa
