  1. Hello!

I’m looking for suggestions on ideas similar to Versailles for a mid June sailing. We are a family of four including a 12 year old and a 3 year old. I realize that other destinations will not have the wow factor of Versailles but if I am able to find something exciting for my kids, that will be great.

My family really wanted to see the palace of Versailles. We will be docked in Le Havre on a Monday and the palace of Versailles is closed on Mondays. However, the gardens are open but I think it would be torturous to not be able to go inside. [emoji4]

We are open to renting a car or taking a train. Anything but the ship’s excursion.

We have been to Normandy but never to Paris! I agree that making the trek to see Paris in a few hours would be difficult and a disappointment. We will plan to go back another time. I even thought about staying off of the ship that night and staying in Paris for the night and then catching the ship the following day in Cherbourg. But the trip from Paris to Cherbourg seems to be too far???

So far I have come up with Giverny although my kids are probably going to be bored. haha!

Any other ideas or loopholes that I may have missed to make the most of these ports? Thank you! [emoji4]

Did you even heard about Honfleur ? it is such a nice place and there are shuttles to go from Le Havre with Bee Le Havre. It is less expensive to go with them than with the taxi, it is only 25 euros per adults and 15 euros for kids. It is such a nice place. You can get informations and even book on their website.

    Have a nice day ! :)

  2. There is a road train which does a tour of the town with a commentary and then drops you in the centre. You can return on any train later. Pick up and drop off at the cruise terminal. However, Le Havre is really not a very desirable destination, as John Bull said. We only did the road train because we had called at Honfleur the day before. Honfleur is so much nicer!

Hello, the train doesnt exist anymore. There are always shuttles from the cruise terminal to the city center with big companies such as MSC. You've got a lot to see in le Havre because it is an historical place. If you want to go to Honfleur, there is a shuttle with Bee Le Havre it costs 25 euros per adults. If you want more informations you can check their websites

    Have a nice day ! :)

  3. We are three people arriving in Le Havre and looking for a private tour to Paris for the day or possibly a semi-private tour. Many hours searching has provided little information. Any suggestions and/or recommendations for companies would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help!

Hello ! From Le Havre you can get a Taxi to go to Paris, the taxi will be privatised to you. I think that it is 450€ for the car, even if you are 1 or 4 people. You can even go with the train but there are strikes in France so it is not really recommanded for cruisers.

You can also enjoy Le Havre, it is such a nice place to see !

    Have a nice day ! :)

  4. I have read about taxis that will go from Le Havre to Honfleur for 30 euros. Are there any private tour companies that will take you from Le Havre to Honfleur and maybe a couple small towns also?

There is the Bee Le Havre company who travels from Le Havre to Honfleur for 25 euros per personne. You can check it on their website.

    Have a nice journey !

  5. My wife and I will be docking at Le Havre on Norwegian Breakaway in late April and would like to get to Paris as quickly as we can. I'd love to hear from others who have done Paris from Le Havre. I'm looking at Eurorailways, the high speed train. Looks like 2 hours, 15 minutes each way. Was thinking of leaving on the 7:56 am train (to arrive around 10:15am at Gare St. Lazar train station). Then return on the 15:50 train...to arrive in Le Havre around 6:15. That gives us nearly 6 hours in Paris. Pretty tight, but time to hit a couple of places. I assume we can grab a cab to and from the port to the train station, as googlemaps estimates that walk at 50 minutes. If all that went according to plan, we'd actually have an hour or so to kick around LeHavre.

Anyone think this DOESN'T sound doable? I readily admit that it's been 12 year since I've used public transport in France, so please shoot holes in the plan above! Thanks!!

Hello ! This sounds doable BUT you have to notice that there are problems with the railway in France, in fact, 3/4 days a week there is a strike which causes troubles to take the train. Here you can find all the information you need about it : https://en.oui.sncf/en/train/strike

Hope I helped you ! Have a nice journey !

P.S : Le Havre is a beautiful city too, there is a lot of things to see. It is a beautiful historical place.

  6. We have a group of 11 planning to visit Honfleur from Le Havre. I have reviewed many posts in this forum, but they all discussed going there either by bus, rental car or tax.

And many posts on Honfleur are dated, so I am hoping for more recent feedback.

Due to the size of our group, I prefer a private tour, but cannot find any non-ship excursions. Does anyone have any recommendation for a day tour to Honfleur?

Since the max size of taxi is only 6, should we pre-arrange 2 taxis to take us there and back? Is the taxi cost around 25-30€? Is it one way or return? Any recommendations of a taxi company there?

Thank you in advance for any feedback!

Hello 2curious, I don't know if you travelled yet but maybe this will help some of you. I don't know if you heard about it but there is a touristic bus company named Bee Le Havre where you can book a little bus. I know that they are going to Honfleur, maybe you can contact them to know more about it ?

Have a nice day and I hope that you will appreciate Le Havre, it is a beautiful city !
