  1. Our final payment date was April 15 for our June 29 cruise. We called Carnival and they moved our final payment date til May 15. I would call them a few days before and ask them to move your final payment date. I just told them I was not comfortable yet making final payment and they moved it. It was a quick phone call.

This is excellent writing.  Sheer joy to read your posts.

Was it a ladybug?  Cause I hear they're good luck. 😝

Still waiting for a picture of LIONESSS and DH if you must

If I was more tech savvy, I could post a picture of Lionesss. I am lucky to have sailed with her and family years ago (2008) and still friends with them. Actually, just got done texting her tonight.

  3. Has someone used a ride share service from Port of Miami to Miami Airport? If so, what was the cost? I have heard of major surge prices when passengers disembark after a cruise. We are getting off Navigator on a Friday and wondered what is a realistic price for Uber/Lyft. Thanks in advance.

  4. I am looking into getting an interior Family Harbor Suite. We are a family of 4. Is there a couch that folds out or Pullman beds from the ceiling? The last time the four of us sailed in a regular interior our cabin did not have a couch and it made for a crowded room at times.

  5. The pizza on Freedom was much better than on Adventure two years ago. We were told by our Head Waiter (he works in Sorentos during the day) that it was changed two weeks ago. Still not a good as Carnival's in my opinion, but much much better than my last cruise.

  6. All:

I have been voraciously absorbing every morsel of information possible from this board and others for the last 12 months in anticipation of an anniversary trip with my wife on Freedom. While I find some of the snarky comments and discussions on the board unnecessary (i.e. chair hogs, smoking, etc.), which are more suited for junior high social media, I have obtained some very useful information from those brave enough to post. I want to thank Bob and others for their insight, and I hope I can provide a semi-live review while I am on Freedom next week. This is a VACATION with no child, so I will not break my back to post every day, but I will try and provide some information, especially since this is one of the first Southern itineraries for FOS.

My wife and are are in our mid-late 30's, live in sunny San Diego (truly one of the most amazing towns on earth, in my opinion. If anyone needs suggestions on where to go/what to do in San Diego - let me know.), and have never been to the Southern Islands. We are not "cruisers" per se, but have been on 3-4 cruises with RCI. I have read all of the doom and gloom about the cruise industry trending down, and am interested to see how much truth there is to the rumors. We dabble in the bar/restaurant industry, will over-tip almost as a rule, consider ourselves semi-foodies, and enjoy a proper cocktail. We have a balcony cabin, the drink and internet packages, and will be dining in one specialty restaurant. We decided on the MDR, as we have met some fun couples on prior cruises. Per Bob's suggestion on another board, we emailed Royal a few weeks ago with our dining preference (i.e. couples our like age and no kids), and were promptly responded to and advised our request would be granted, so - we'll see...

My wife and I are professionals, but still like to dress up we we get the chance, so we will be the couple with cocktail dresses and coats in the MDR every night. We may visit a show or two, but will likely be found in the R Bar, casino, Pub and/or Olive and Twist most nights.

I am extremely excited for our get away, and will try and provide a fun and engaging review. Thanks again for the all wonderful info. Happy sailing.

    Cheers.

We are on Freedom in 3 weeks so will be following your posts. Also, my wife and I love San Diego! We can't wait to go back.

  7. I'm a first-time cruiser. Carnival Elation arrives at 9 AM. I booked a short excursion (stingrays) for 10 AM.

    • Do I understand correctly that my excursion group will meet on the ship and go over as a group?
    • After my excursion, will it be too late for me to rent some shade? E.g. I've read there are $25 "clamshells," but they may sell out. I'd consider skipping the excursion rather than risk likely sunburn (Irish blood, so I have to be careful).
    • Also, what do you bring? I'm assuming a towel, sunscreen, and my Sail and Sign card. And maybe a fanny pack with my smartphone, a waterproof cover for taking photos, maybe a hat and reading.

When we were there last June, we met our Stringray excursion on Half Moon Cay. Then we took a golf cart to the excursion.

  9. You can walk but it is about 1.5 miles if you follow the road from the ferry dock to Sunshines or that area which is south of the Four Seasons. There will be taxis at the pier or very near. If you are on a cruise ship I would have a taxi bring you to the beach and have them comeback for your return to the pier because of the time issue.

Thank you for the info and quick reply!

  10. Anyone go on the zip line shore excursion from RC. Is it safe? This is for 25 yr olds.
We did it in 2016. It is very safe. There is a safety demo and test zip before you go to the top of the mountain. We are a couple in our mid-40s and felt 100% safe.

  11. They don’t do tours that day [emoji852]️ I’m not sure if the office is open or not, but they don’t take tours on those days. Seems odd to be closed half the week, but maybe the company is owned by someone who does this as a hobby in retirement and only wants to work part time.

We will be there on a Tuesdays, so we will have to find another excursion.
