I am coming into Nassau on day 6 of my cruise next week. The cruise does not offer an excursion to the Aquaventure water park.  I am allowed to book my own private excursions in Nassau.  As far as I can tell:

    1) Aquaventure is not accepting day passes, and

    2) Even if I had a day pass, I would need proof of a negative covid test within the previous five days..

Do I have that right?  I'm looking for a loophole. I've always wanted to do that waterpark, and I finally have a long enough time in port to make it worthwhile.

Did you end up going to Atlantis? We had booked through the ship but it was cancelled.

We stayed in the Senior Suite. It had 1 Queen bed in a corner room with a view of The Pantheon and a single bed in another room overlooking the side street.

Our youngest daughter stayed in the suite with us. Our oldest daughter, who joined us 2 days after we arrived, stayed in a separate single room.

I actually initially reserved a different room for us but mentioned on the booking I wanted a view of the square/Pantheon. I received an email almost immediately suggesting the Senior Suite which was just what we needed.

I am not sure if there are any 4 person rooms. You might want to contact them via email to enquire or look into booking a single for your 21 y.o.  It was definitely nice to have the extra bathroom when everyone was getting ready to go out in the morning or to dinner in the evening.

Thanks for the info. I just booked a 2 twin room for my kids and a separate room for my husband and I.

Ditto.  Fantastic location within walking distance of almost every where we wanted to go, great service, decent breakfast and unbeatable views.

We had a two bedroom suite:  07CEC9A2-981E-464D-BCA0-E2FB072F5E57.thumb.jpeg.714ea2075c9ac0dbcda8938c8996baeb.jpeg

They also have cute single rooms.

After long, hot days of touring we especially appreciated the beautiful rooftop bar for snacks and pre-dinner drinks while enjoying the sunset:

I see that you stayed in the 2 bedroom suite-  can I ask what configuration the bedding was?  We're travelling with our kids, 13 year old boy and 21 year old daughter, so they complain endlessly if they have to share a bed.

We've used him on a friend's recommendation. We did the tour of both sides of the island. We had the option to be dropped off at the port or at the Front Street beach and catch the water taxi back, and we did that, so we could do a little shopping. I was a little disappointed that the stop in Marigot was less than an hour, as there were a lot of people there and we weren't able to see very many stores, or get to the bakery in time.

The short stop in Marigot is pretty much my hesitancy about this tour also, as I've never been there. I think I'm going to contact Joyce Prince to see if she's available then. Thanks for the help!

  5. Oh my gosh Kim, I'm so sorry for everything that you and your family have been going through over the past year!  I hopped on here a couple of days ago, after not getting on Cruise Critic at all for months and read about your ordeal.  I'm glad that it looks like you are finally healing, although I wish you luck with the continued recovery and rehab ahead.  Also, stalking your wonderful reviews once again as we've booked a cruise out of San Juan for New Years.

I was in St. Martin last week. I took Bernard's tour #2. I inquired about Sarafina's and was told the driver didn't know if it was open or not & suggested that we go to L'Express on the corner by the parking lot near the local market. We only had about 30 mins at this stop. The croissant was very good. The other items we purchased were so so. The brownie was pretty but not much taste. A huge disappointment.  I would suggest you Google Sarafina's & call them, I think they are on Facebook.

Thanks for the update. How was the rest of the tour,?

Yesterday I I contacted Bernard's who I am taking a tour with in July, 2019 & he confirmed that Sarafina's is open at the new location

at Marina Port La Royale, Marigot.

If you take Bernards's tour (I booked #2) then you will stop in Marigot & can walk to Sarafina's.

I was just looking at this last night, and am a bit on the fence about booking.  We were in St. Maarten last July and didn't see much because the island was in such bad shape at that point.  I really want to explore the French side a bit, and hopefully get a little bit of time to swim.  Would you mind doing a quick update after your trip?

Here is a video of the cabin.  This one does not have a connecting door, but you can see what the cabin looks like.  Note the small loveseat.

Thanks, this is the set-up that I expected.  I wish that the TA I used had told me that I might lose the loveseat in the cabins because I would have booked 2 regular cabins in close proximity instead.  My kids are 20 and 13, so while the door between will be nice it surely wasn't necessary.  It figures, the first time that I use a TA instead of just booking myself things like this get missed 🙄

Yes, we had two ocean facing balconies on deck 8.  My sister’s cabin had the sofa by the door and beds by the balcony. We had the balcony dividers opened as well, which gave us lots of space.

Ok, that explains it.  Balconies were completely booked so we have 2 oceanview.  With the beds facing the door in those smaller cabins, I'm concerned that if the cabin for my kids is in the room that the door swings into, one of the beds is going to be in the way of the door.

The door location depends on the ship.  What ship are you on?

We have 2 oceanview on deck 2 of Vision of the Seas.  I JUST booked for New Year's and was honestly surprised that they even had connecting cabins left.  Unfortunately the balcony cabins were completely gone.

This photo might be too big to upload but we had connecting cabins on Symphony. The connecting door swung into our room. It was well in advance of the bed (we had our beds separated). It didn’t stay open all the time though. It would be in the way of the cabin exit door if you tried to prop it open I think. We really enjoyed our connecting rooms. Both rooms also had sizeable sofas.

Interesting, I always have a mental picture of the beds facing toward the door.  Did you have balcony cabins?

  12. Wondering where I might find out which way the door opens in connected cabins?  When I booked 2 cabins for my family, I didn't occur to me that my kids' separated beds might block the door from opening?  If anyone has had this issue and knows where I can find a drawing online this info would be appreciated, otherwise I suppose I'll have to call and sit on hold.

We sailed on the Fascination out of San Juan in September. We had no sea days either as Dominica was included as a port of call. We got a travel alert from AA that Wednesday as we were to make a connecting flight out of Charlotte on that Saturday. We flew down to San Juan 2 days early and are so glad we did. So, if you ever get a chance to spend some extra time in San Juan, do it!

We did fly down 1 day early, then flew home late the night after arriving back in San Juan so that we would have some time.  We went to one of the forts, ate lots of great food and walked around quite a bit but I would still love more time to explore San Juan as well as other parts of the island.

Our itinerary included Antigua instead of Dominica-  as we were there in June of this year, I don't think any ships had returned there yet after the hurricane.  I would love to see Dominica and Grenada as well.

Did you do the Fascination out of PR? We had a great trip that time! Love the Breeze as well!

You will love this itinerary. It's awesome!

We love Aruba and have been doing land vacations there in the summer the last 2 years and will probably go back this summer.

Yes!  We did the itinerary out of San Juan with zero days at sea-  it was wonderful yet exhausting.  I would definitely do it again someday though, and want to spend more time in San Juan also.

We did a land vacation in Aruba about 15 years ago so a return trip is long past due, but I'd love to see Bonaire and/or Curacao too.
