  1. Can anyone please let me know if it is possible to mirrorcast or screen share from your tablet to the cabin TV's on MSC Euribia?

We sailed on Preziosa April this year, and I managed to Screencast from my tablet to the TV in our cabin. I can't remember exactly how I did it, but it was great because we were able to watch films that we had downloaded beforehand. The wife needs lots of rest due to a medical condition, so it was really helpful for her to just chill out in the room after walking around ports or navigating the ships corridors, venues & bars etc.

I have been told on a different social media site that it isn't possible to Mirrorcast etc. on Euribia because the TV menu is set up differently. I'm not convinced that the answer is accurate because why would the menu be any different than other TV's, but I might be wrong.

If you have travelled on Euribia, and have managed to Screenshare to the TV, could you please let me know, and explain how to go about it.

    Many thanks

  2. Thank you everyone for your advice and input.

I think I will just take an ordinary black suit with posh waistcoat, and dickie. Won't bother with anything for the white night if there is one.

The wife will probably just ram the suitcase to the brim with loads of posh dresses. She does like to dress up, as we don't often get the chance to.

  3. Hi Everyone,

I am trying to figure out what formal clothes to take for our cruise on Virtuosa 14th April 2023, 7 Night 'Northern Pearls'.

I can't find any information about how many celebration nights there are, whether these are similar to black tie, or if any of them are themed nights, white nights etc. etc.

Does anyone have any idea where I can find out how many formal nights there will be, and what style they would be?

    Many thanks

  4. Only 20 days left before we set off on Virtuosa, and seriously can't wait.

I have read so many raving reviews on other platforms, that it's just adding more to the excitement.

If our cruise is even half as good as others have been saying I think it will be amazing.

We would have loved the itinerary to have been heading towards Spain or Portugal, rather than Northern Europe, but only because we may have had warmer weather. However, we won't let it spoil our experience.

I feel quietly confident that MSC will be the future cruise line for us, so much so, that we have already booked on Euribia for the New Year cruise. Please don't let us regret that booking MSC!!

We got off a few days ago and had a very nice time (NYE cruise).  I'll be writing a comprehensive review soon, but until then, let me/us know if you have any specific questions.

Thank you for your input, and I look forward to reading your review.

In the meantime, can you give me a bit of feedback about the New Years Eve part of your cruise?

I am considering booking for NYE this year, but I have no idea what to expect.

For instance, does the ship stay berthed for the midnight celebrations, is there a firework display in the harbour where they dock, and do they put on a good party? Many thanks

Reading this with interest as we go early March. We got a great deal on a balcony cabin on Deck 12, and have booked the Speciality dining package of 4 different venues (thought we'd try lots!) and have also booked the Alcohol Free drinks package so I'll try the Strawberry Daquiri.

My huband is lactose-intolerant so I've completed the form on the website and been assured there will be lactose free milk available. I'll report back of course.

Could you please let me know where you found the forms on the website for your husbands lactose intolerance. I also am lactose intolerant and my wife is wheat intolerant, but I've not seen anywhere on the website to indicate this for our cruise. Many thanks

Have been on Virtuosa twice, the last time being early summer 2022.   I have to put my hand up and say that I would never have considered a cruise ship of such a size, despite working on board them in my home port.   Or MSC for that matter.

Virtuosa is a stunning ship.  Very clean, and with an easily negotiated layout.   MDR food is good - it's not Michelin star, but is certainly on a par with a good restaurant.   The buffet is vast - seating, including outside, towards the back, is often much quieter.  As one would imagine with an Italian ship, pizza, pasta, gelato and freshly made mozzarella is great.   Drinks packages are good value - my highlight cocktail (mocktail in my case) is the strawberry daiquiri.

Theatre shows, like the ship in general, are dazzly and bright.   Enthusiastic, talented entertainers.   The theme of the shows sometimes go off on a bit of a tangent, but I've just accepted to like them at face value.   The planetarium light show in the galleria is mesmerising.

Hola! tacos and cantina is fantastic.   Book as soon as you can after embarkation, as it gets filled quickly (it's not that big).  The £17.99 all you can eat is outstanding value.

Guest services can be difficult to hear or understand as there's frequently a musician playing only a few feet away.  MSC UK land customer services are flaky and inconsistent.   Try not to amend anything before you go - stick to the original plan.

I'll be back on her in May.

Thank you for taking the time to reply, and giving such balanced feedback. We are by no means posh people, so we would be more than happy with most meals served on board, as long as they are cooked properly, and hot.

My wife is wheat intolerant, so hopefully there will be plenty of options for her.

Some of the main things we look forward to on a cruise is a clean comfortable ship, nice swimming pools, and jacuzzi's, but mainly, plenty of entertainment.

Having not been with MSC before, we don't know how much entertainment is provided.

On the previous cruises we have done, we would go and watch a theatre show at the front of the ship, then go to the middle of the ship for a live band or tribute act, then the back of the ship for a comedian or something else. Often ending up back at the middle of the ship for a late night disco, or more music from the resident band. This was pretty much every night, and quite often different types of entertainment. If this cruise is anything like that, we will have a fantastic time. Thank you again.

We had a great time in November and are going on again in May. Negative reviews that I saw seemed to focus mainly on service (which we thought was great - everyone was so nice and friendly and even went above and beyond on my birthday to make it extra special), and food (which we thought was fine - the pizza was great! The main dining room didn't blow my mind but it was perfectly fine and there was nothing I ate that I felt was bad. We didnt try speciality dining this time round but might try Hola tacos next time).

Late night entertainment was a lot of fun, we very much enjoyed the spa most days, I managed to win a prize at one of the music quizzes, and I highly recommend the Carousel at Sea shows! Didnt feel too crowded but we were outside of school holidays. The buffet only felt crowded on the final morning when everyone disembarking in Southampton was trying to get breakfast at the same time. The indoor jaccuzis did get a little busy at times on sea days but wasnt too bad. Plenty of fun things to do (ropes course, water slides, 4d cinema, VR etc).

Our cabin (balcony on deck 12) was very comfortable. Ship was spotlessly clean at all times.

If I had a complaint it would be around excursions. We booked these before the cruise but didn't know what time in the day they would be happening until the night before the excursion took place. Makes it a bit harder if you like to plan ahead but not a massive problem overall.

Different strokes for different folks and all that, but we had a great week, especially considering the price we paid (£510pp which also included premium drinks)

Like you say, go with an open mind. Not every single person is going to enjoy every single cruise line, but I personally can't wait to sail with MSC again.

Thank you very much for your indepth feedback. This has definitely put my mind at rest, and will help us to enjoy the cruise more than we would have. I have already booked both of the carousel shows with cocktails, but the cocktail isn't really too much of a bonus because we also booked with the free premium drinks package anyway. It did cost quite a bit more than your cruise, but I still think it was good value for money. thanks again.

  10. Hi everyone,

My wife and I are booked on Virtuosa 14th April 2023, along with two of our friends. This will be the very first cruise for our friends, but my OH and myself have previously had 3 cruises with another cruise line. This will be our fist with MSC.

We have no idea what to expect, or what it will be like, but we will go with an open mind, and do our very best to make it a cruise to remember.

I was just wondering if anyone on here has been on Virtuosa recently, and could possibly give us some feedback.

I have been reading a lot of negative posts on a social media site, and to be honest, some of those comments make me wonder if I have made a huge mistake by booking this for the four of us.

Honest and constructive feedback would be very much appreciated. TIA

  11. Good evening everyone,

Just a couple of questions if I may?

I am considering booking on QV for the November 4 night cruise to Amsterdam. We have never been with cunard, so I have very little knowledge of how this cruise line works.

Firstly, what is the entertainment like on board? I am 62 and my partner (who will be my wife on 1st October, so this will be a mini honeymoon), will be 50, so we are interested to find out if all the entertainment is geared towards the even older generation than us, or whether there is something for everyone. We like going to shows each night on cruises, and also like watching live bands, comedians etc.

Secondly, are we expected to pay gratuities on QV. Our previous cruises have been with another cruise line, which removed the gratuities in 2019.

I'm sure I will have more questions before I book, but those will do for now.

Obviously, any other information or tips for Cunard, and specifically Queen Victoria, would be very much appreciated.

    Thank you!!

  12. I think we will probably still go on the replacement cruise, as long as they don't completely screw us over with a rubbish cabin and the loss of the premium drinks package, which was part of the deal when we booked Preziosa.

Our only other concern is how much of an impact it will have on the friends that we booked with. It will be their very first cruise, so not a great start for their introduction to cruising.

There is also the possibility that they might not be able to book the time off as it's two weeks before they should have been sailing.

I do feel sorry for those that are unable to change their plans to suit the new timings etc.

We will just consider ourselves fortunate enough to be able to go on a cruise. Especially with everything that is happening in the world at the moment.

  13. Hi Everyone,

It looks like I might need to make a call to MSC next week.

I logged onto my account so I could check through the details of my cruise for 28th April 2023, only to find that my cruise has now changed ships from Preziosa to Virtuosa.

This wouldn't be an issue at all, because as far as I am aware, the Virtuosa is a better, more modern ship.

What I am really quite annoyed about, is the fact that the sailing is now two weeks earlier and departs on 14th April. Also, one of the port stops has been changed from Rotterdam to Cherbourg.

Absolutely gutted because we really wanted to go to Rotterdam. It's a port we haven't been to yet. We have visited Cherbourg twice already.

It also states on my booking page, that our cabins have not yet been allocated. I specifically chose cabins that we preferred on Preziosa because we wanted balcony midships cabins. I'm now concerned that we will be issued cabins that are either nothing like the balcony cabin locations we wanted, or possibly not even balcony cabins.

Has anyone else already contacted MSC about this particular cruise, and if so, did you get the answers you wanted? Many thanks

We have had the drinks package a couple of times, we had a chunk of OBC and our 7.5% loyalty discount so it was a good deal for us. You can only purchase it on your first or second day and you can’t book it for just part of your cruise. As you say you don’t drink much at all, I don’t think it would be worth it for you. We won’t book it again as there are too many of our drinks of choice not covered by the package.

Thank you for that. I haven't really delved too deeply into the drinks covered, so that is something I would also need to consider. Could you tell me what drinks were not covered on your package please?

  15. We are booked on Britannia 18th April 2022. We have looked at the price for the drinks packages, and there is no way we can justify the cost offered at the moment. We simply couldn't drink enough to balance the cost of it. However, if they were to offer a reasonably discounted price once onboard, we might have a re-think. My questions are: Do they offer drinks package deals, when are they most likely to offer them (first day, mid cruise or later on the cruise), and finally, how would we find out about the deals (are they advertised, or would we need to ask at the reception desk).

We don't drink much at all, just a few drinks each night, maybe the odd alchol free cocktail during the day etc. but we do drink loads of water, soft drinks and specialty coffee.

Obviously, we would still need to work out whether a drinks package deal would be worth it for us. We would also need to find out if we could use our OBC to pay for the package. If not, it definitely wouldn't be worth us doing it. We only generally use the OBC to buy our drinks. Thanks in advance.

If it's sailing from Southampton probably. We've done Magnifica and Virtuosa from Southampton and both had kettles with a tea/coffee tray in the cabins.

Many thanks for that. Think I might be making the booking tomorrow. How did you find the service on the ships you cruised on? We have only been with P&O, so it will be a completely new experience for us.

  17. Hi All, I am looking at a cruise for April 2023.

I have never used MSC before, so I have no clue what this cruise line is like. However, I have been looking to possibly book on the Preziosa for April 2023. I would like to know if anyone has stayed in Cabin 9122 or a cabin in roughly the same part of the ship. I just want to make sure that the cabins in this area have a good view from the balcony, and any other advice you could perhaps offer on this ship etc. Thank you

  18. Very random question, but we love the ham that was on offer during our recent cruise on Iona. Just wondering if anyone might know what the ham is called, or where P&O purchase it from? We have tried lots of different types of ham, but never found anything close to the one that they use. I would really appreciate it if anyone had any clues. TIA

Not sure how to get photo from phone onto pc. I might just take photo with iPad and do it that way. At check in is it like sending a attachment.

Take a picture on your phone, then click the share option. Upload to photos If you have a google account. Your photos might automatically upload to google photos anyway. Log into your google account, then download the picture you want. It should then open in your browsers default photos. From there, save the file to your computer and you can then choose the file and upload it when you are completing the boarding pass form. Hope that helps.

  20. Hi everyone,

On Friday I completed the boarding passes for myself and the other half, but whilst completing the required information and adding photos etc. I noticed that neither of our middle names were showing where it states 'all given names' in the passport section. I tried to click on the box to edit and add our middle names, but it then pops up with a notification saying 'to edit, contact customer services'. I did try several times to get through, but absolutely no chance of getting through (I kinda knew this would be the case, based on other peoples posts about not being able to get through to P&O on the phones for hours).

I just wanted to ask if anyone that has already sailed, had the same problem, and if so, did it cause any problems when checking in at the terminal? Thank you in advance.

I'm not going to moan if port(s) are added to our September Iona cruise.  However, depending which ports are added we probably won't get off. Certainly won't get off at Le Havre or Vigo, and probably wouldn't get off at Brest.  Would get off at La Rochelle  and La Corunna, but only if we could go ashore independantly.

Current plan is to treat ourselves to the drinks package, sit back and chillout.

I totally agree, although the way things are going in France, a port stop there would not be an option. We are also going to sit back and chill out with plenty of alcohol. I wont be paying for the drinks package though. I don't think I could get through enough alcohol to justify the cost. For the first time, we will each be taking a litre of booze on board when we embark. Once that runs out we will just have to pay for them. Which September cruise are you on?

Whilst I would have thought that testing port day procedures on Iona would be a good idea in preparation for her first ‘real’ cruises, there must be some good reason why they haven’t included a port day. It has probably nothing to do with fairness, more what they are or aren’t allowed or able to do. If so, there is little point flooding them with emails. You made your booking (along with everybody else) in the knowledge that there would be no port calls, it seems as though you will be getting exactly what you booked (which some may prefer anyway).

I totally agree that I have got exactly what I booked, and if you read my post again, it does say that I was happy to book, knowing that there was no port stop. I was just saying that, as they have now added 7 night breaks on Britannia With Port calls, perhaps they could add a port call to the Iona 7 night breaks. I will still be happy to join the Iona for 7 nights, regardless of whether or not they stop at any ports. Just being able to cruise again will be fantastic. It would still be an added bonus if they did manage to make a stop somewhere.
