I have booked couple massage (75 mins) for 2:30 does this mean we will miss the afternoon tea?

Never been on Cunard before, but I believe the tea in the Queen's ballroom is open for about 90 minutes, so if you go directly from your massage to the tea you should make it.

  2. Hi, all!

We are new to Cunard, will be doing a Westbound crossing in July.

We usually book a couple's massage on our cruises, and I'm wondering how you find the treatments and environment on QM2.  We are also considering trying the Thermal Suite. Would that be included with the massage or would we book that separately? Is it a good Thermal Suite?

I appreciate your thoughts and advice!

  3. Which cruise lines offer the small ship excursion directly from the ship? I know Holland does this en route to Juneau, and you get off the ship before Juneau. Do other lines offer this excursion?

    Thanks so much!

  4. Thank you so much for doing this review!  So glad to read you had a great time.

DH and I are (hopefully) sailing on the June 9th Adventure to Bermuda cruise.  Did you have a formal night? If so, when? Which nights the dining room offer the least inspiring menu? We booked a 2 night dining package and are trying to decide which nights to use it. How is the free coffee on board? We are contemplating going without any beverage package this trip and are hoping we don't need to purchase specialty coffees.

Also, where/how do you find the $7 shuttle to horseshoe bay?

    Thanks!

We have done both and they are both great!! However I would choose the Danube because of the markets in Budapest, Vienna, Nuremberg & Prague. We have been fortunate to cruise 7 river cruises, all with Avalon and the Christmas Markets is my favorite!!

Thank you for this!  Yeah, I wasn't sure if we should go for more a town/villages thing or stick to big capitals. It seems like that is the difference between the 2?

Strasbourg looked soooo beautiful, which is why I was thinking of that one.

I agree about Strasbourg. That is the one on the Rhine I'd feel really torn about missing, but I think the Danube has a number more I'd feel FOMO over LOL.

Unless time is a problem do both as one trip. Problem solved, otrherwise I'd say Danube.

As for which cruise company, Avalon was fantastic for us in 2018. Have heard good reports for Scenic (my next best choice as it's an Australian company, and, from what I have read is popular with USA cruisers). Viking and Evergreen are a couple more.

I can't say the thought of both hadn't crossed my mind, LOL, but time IS an issue, so we will have to choose one this trip. And for now, we have to assume this will be the only one, since we have many many other things we want to do. Thanks for your suggestions!

Haven't been on either, but after watching Cruise with Ben and David's videos on their Rhine Christmas market cruise, I would choose the Rhine because Strasbourg looks GORGEOUS!!!

Funny, I am not a Christmas person at all, and I detest cold weather, but after watching those videos, I think we may shoot for a Dec 2023 cruise. Everything looked so charming and romantic and festive. We have discussed river cruises many times. I think it's time we planned one. We can back another time for the Danube, perhaps in warmer weather.

Funny we are in EXACTLY the same place LOL. Ben and David are the ones who gave us the idea and we have talked and talked about river cruises, never done it, but those videos made us ready to plan for Christmas 2023 or 2024.  We don't like cold either, but we are ready to bundle up!  We originally assumed Rhine would be best because that's what B&D were doing, but after a few weeks of surface searching, I'm thinking maybe Danube would offer a little more?  It's kind of overwhelming.

  8. DH and I are planning our first, possibly only, ever river cruise. We've decided to make it Christmas Markets. Do you prefer the Rhine or the Danube if you could only pick one?  We also haven't selected a cruise line yet, but first will pick the route. Any recommendations are welcome.

    Thanks!

  9. I'm aware of the controversy.  Hubby and I are booked on a Disney Cruise Line cruise that was supposed to call in Key West in January, but the itinerary has been changed to remove KW and instead double-dip at their private island. We are considering switching to HAL or RCL (for a few reasons, not just KW) which still list KW on their itineraries. What are the chances these ships will actually call in KW?

    Thanks for the info/thoughts.

My best friend died in April from Covid-19.Three other people that I know tested positive and are recovering.

My wife and I have not left our home since March 12 as we are both dealing with serious illnesses and if we got the virus we might not survive.

I find myself posting a lot more than usual on CC due to being home.

So sorry for your loss 😥.   Please stay safe!

  11. Yes this can be done (possible exception what Biker19 said) if you are lucky enough to get through. I have a similar situation for my May cruise, but have been unable to get in touch with my TA. I have sent several e-mails and left a phone message, but they are absolutely inundated at this time. I have decided to leave it alone for now, they have more immediate demands, my desire for an upgrade is the least of our worries...at this point who even knows what kind of travel restrictions will be in place by then?

  12. We are flying into FLL on a Saturday morning for a Monday embarkation out of port Miami in January.

We have 2 hotel reservations for the 2 nights and have to choose one. The Hampton Inn is really highly recommended here and I've never heard about Hotel Croyton.  It is on Miami Beach about 1 block inland with beach access and chairs. Croyton is about $100 cheaper but does not include breakfast.

Anyone with experience?  We are new to sailing out of Miami.  Thanks!

  13. If money is no object do the Disney Fantasy 7 night Eastern or Western Caribbean. Occasionally there is even an 8 or 9 night Southern Caribbean itinerary but those are hard to find and the price skyrockets as the ship books up really quickly. But if money is no object...go for longer!

Do it yourself. Since Freedom docks at Crown Bay, walk over to the marina and take the 930am ferry to STJ. It leaves Cruz Bay at 415pm. If that doesn't work for you, just take the hourly ferry to Red Hook and taxi back.

Once in Cruz Bay, you can taxi to Trunk or Honeymoon or hike into Honeymoon.

Thanks. I'm a dummy. I didn't even realize there was a ferry from Crown Bay!
