I'm not sure what time they called for open boarding - maybe a little after 9:00.  You can get a number for the tenders instead of waiting for open boarding.  I think you could get them the night before or early in the morning.

Great thank you.  First time I’ve tendered so wasn’t sure what the process was 👍

  2. Hi, I’m really enjoying your review thank you.  We are going on the same trip in a couple of weeks and I wondered if you could tell me when you went to portofino if you know what time the first tender was for people who had not booked an excursion through the ship.  We want to kayak there but would have to be in port by 10am latest so wonder if this is doable? many thanks

When Symphony was in her first Med season a Uk TA was selling the 4n cruise as a package… flights to Barcelona, 2n in a hotel and then the 4n cruise disembarking in Rome and flight home.

You May want you see if any are doing such a deal again?

That would be perfect. Thank you I will investigate 👍🏻

Wonder has a three night Oct 27th. Rome to Barcelona. It will fill quick as many will stay aboard for the 14 night back to FLL.

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately I want to travel in May, wish they did the October cruise then  😊

That’s still disembarking early, but given the interporting nature of the sailing, you might be able to walk off with luggage without raising suspicion. Whether RCI comes after you (for holding up the ship waiting for you when you are a no show) is unknown.

Thank you for your reply. I think it was probably wishful thinking that this may have been a viable option.

  6. Hi, I’ve heard that Royal no longer allow early disembarkation at a port if you wish to cut your cruise short. But I wonder if anyone knows if your able to do this if there are two embarkation ports.  The Wonder of the Seas has 7 night cruises which embark and disembark at both Rome and Barcelona so is it possible to board at one and disembark at the other to allow either a 3 or 4 night cruise ?
    Many thanks

Honestly, I hope they keep the testing through this season.

It's not that hard to do, and it seems every sailing it at least catches some cases and keeps those off the ships and from spreading further.

And I really hope they do not relax the vaccination rules for kids (or anyone else).  I know that stinks for folks from the UK, but gosh just about everywhere else is vaccinating 5 and up and has been for months and really the Brits with kids just turning 12 is a tiny percentage of cruisers overall....better to work with those few families to reschedule at later dates than to have some big outbreak onboard, or an unvaccinated tween getting really sick from a case caught on board.

The vaccine doesn’t stop you getting covid or passing it on. It reduces the risk of severe illness and death  So I think it is more important to keep the testing and get rid of the vaccine requirement. After all the boosters are only supposed to give further protection for approx 12 weeks so is everyone going to get vaccinated that often. I think testing is much more reliable way of keeping covid off cruise ships.

  8. Hi, I wanted to book the four night Southampton to Greenock this Saturday but understand this is not possible due to it not going to Greenock. Does anyone know if I book the 7 night instead am I allowed to disembark early at another stop ie Liverpool or Belfast as I’m unable to stay the full 7 days due to work commitments. Many thanks

  9. Great info thank you. Can you tell me did you use the free nhs home kit for the pre covid test and just show email from that or do you need a paid test. Thank you and enjoy your cruise.

Sorry i must not have been clear.

Im forced to L&S to Allure but would rather sail on Odyssey but cant L&S even though both are Med cruises for7 days.

So its either L&S Allure and bag some free credit or take a hit and spend more to get on Odyssey with no free credit.

I am also on Harmony this year and if cancelled i want to lift and shift to Odyssey.  Are we only allowed to shift to Allure even though both sail from Rome?

Are there any other ships and sailings that (August) Explorer of the Seas can shift to besides Harmony of the Seas? Just want to know what my real options are before shifting.

I was on the the same Western Med Explorer sailing (23rd Aug) and was only allowed to transfer to the Harmony Western Med itinerary. Eastern Med was not allowed which ruled out the Odessey.
