  1. For the upgrade to unlimited... is that per cabin, meaning for multiple devices or just for 1 device? TIA!

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

you will set up an account with an e-mail address and password to log on....you can use it on multiple devises with the same log on but only one devise at a time can be online...I do this on every cruise as I run my business from the ship....:)

  2. Hi! We just got upgraded to the Deluxe Owners Suite Category SA suite 12002.... we were in the Penthouse with Large Balcony Category SG.... will we miss the balcony? The deluxe owners suite looks amazing though... does anyone have any RECENT photos or video... everything I find is pretty old. We felt we couldn't pass up the upgrade even though there is no balcony. Hope we made the right choice. Looking forward to some first hand info on the suite! THANKS!

we had that room for a repo from New Orleans to Boston April 2012 and just let me tell ya I had to have counseling after that cruise...my wife had to drag me off kicking and screaming....without any doubt that was the best room we ever had....never once missed not having a balcony.....we told the room steward to never ever close any of the drapes...we had between 15 and 60 people in that room all the time...we had an open door policy and anyone was welcome.....:D

  3. I have been planning for 12 months for our cruise that is schedule for May/2017 on the Escape. Having planned for so long and I was so excited to come up on 90 days. It's when the fun starts as far as booking all your dining and entertainment. I had already booked flights, hotel, transfers, etc.

Then life threw me a curveball. My husband hurt his back and we are visiting a surgeon next week. That happened and my daughter called and had a conflict at work.

All of our plans had to change. I have moved our trip to February 2018 on the Epic. We will lose the money for the flights that were purchased.

I know there are worse things and we will still be able to cruise at a later date, but I am still sad about not being able to go.

Please don't be mean, just needed to vent to folks that understand.

sorry this happened to you and your family...altho you do still have a cruise to look forward too...sit tight on the airline tickets...we had a similar issue for a Panama Canal cruise coming up in March of this year with a lot of very close cruise friends...a couple weeks ago the airline notified us they had changed our flight time by 6+ hours and it gave us an out to get our money back...650+ bux....we had written them off in our minds but decided to just leave them in place and see what happened....:)

  4. Does anyone know what deck the NCL Jewel Bridge Cam shows on its feed? I'm guessing it is Deck 10 but just wanted to confirm.

Hi....the open deck on the bow with the crew pool seen in the webcam would be deck 7...the two decks with railings are 9 and 10 penthouses with inside cabins on deck 8 in between...the guy on the balcony in your pic is on deck 9.....hope this helps.......:D

  5. Exactly. like I said earlier. My own person opinion was to take those loungers out of that 'puddle' [good one O.B.!!;)] and just make one larger one!!

Not once did I see anyone in them. I at least cooled off in the other once. I told my husband it was the over sized bathtub!! LOL

I hope we get to sail with you again sometime soon Debb...and get to spend a lot more time at the Haven Bar with ya too....it was a really great cruise especially meeting you and the bad boy..........:p:D:D:D

  6. You are, of course, allowed to discontinue doing business with NCL for whatever reason you choose.

However, if a chain restaurant is so important that it would be the key deciding factor in your decision, I mean...if you care about this one restaurant THAT much, then it probably stands to reason that you should at least spell it's name correctly.

    you made my day......:p:p:D:D

  7. Yes, the ferry excursion is specifically for passengers on the partial transit. After the cruise ship enters Gatun Lake, tenders take you to shore and you take a bus to the dock where the ferry is. The ferry holds about 300 people (it’s not really a ferry) on two decks – they serve a lunch and there are plenty of beverages, free soda and water. Great narration, they give you certificates certifying you transited the Canal, take your picture, etc. You can actually put your hand out and touch the walls of the lock as you go through. You go through the Gaillard Cut and the Pedro Miguel and Miraflores Locks and disembark once you get out to the Pacific Ocean. We were on the ferry approx. 4-5 hours to the Pacific. It could take longer if you wait for another ship before going through the locks. Then it was about an hour and a half bus ride back to Colon (no need to get on a plane.) It was probably an 8-hour tour altogether with the bus ride back, etc. but very enjoyable to see some of Panama City and the countryside, too. We got back to Colon just as the ship was docking from its return through the Gatun Locks. It stops just long enough to pick up the excursion passengers who got off on the Lake.

thank you SandyatSea for this detailed information......and also to pspercy for the link to the Ferry.....:D

  8. I guess you are going to walk to Miami to catch the cruise :p

no sireee......I'm gonna let Amtrack do the drivin.....8 miles closer to the ground..........:p:D

The Pearl does not embark in Maine, regardless of how much influence your better half might have.:D

we're also doing a 7 day Escape followed by a 7 day Getaway 0n March of 16 from Miami but after that it will all be back to good ole'New York....:D

  9. Steve,

Don't know if you can pick up the ferry to go all the way thru if you are on the partial transit. Time constraints. But if you were able to do it you would have to use the Kerosene Canary to come back to the Atlantic side to pick up the ship again.:D

I'd rather have a Root Canal with no Novocain than crawl onto the Kerosene Canary......:p:D

I guess there's plenty of time to figure it all out between now n'then....I really would have a hard time deciding between staying on the ship to go back thru the Gatun Locks and doing that Ferry transit anyway....:D

  10. The Panama Canal by Ferry excursion will take you the rest of the way through to the Pacific so you will be able to actually transit the entire Canal even though you are only a partial transit. The ship will go through Gatun Locks into the lake and then you take a tender to the shore and board the ferry for the rest of the way. Yes, you go through all the locks on the Pacific side as well as the ones you went through on the ship on the Atlantic side. I went through on Princess but it's the same excursion. A little pricey but well worth it to say you transited the entire Canal. I figured I might never get back for a full transit and the partial transit was much more affordable even combined with the ferry excursion.

my question about this would be what is the ferry like that takes you the rest of the way through....how big...how many people....any pictures of it.....thanks........:D

  11. Back in 2010 we were on the Jewel and while walking around we found this seating area that was right up against the side of the ship looking out at the sea. There were these green wavy shaped loungers and also right next to them were these white circular chairs that looked like a doughnut.

We're leaving next weekend on the Dawn and I'm wondering if we'll find the same kind of seats/loungers on there? Those white doughnut shaped chairs were SOOOOO comfortable.

the area and seating your describing is the Spinnaker Lounge.....the Gem Jewel Pearl and Jade still have that some configuration....the Dawn and Star both have had that area turned into Suites and inside staterooms and Spinnaker moved to the aft on deck 7 in a windowless low ceiling room that was originally the shops on those two ships....the seating and atmosphere in there does not even compare with the original Spinnaker......probably the most comfortable seating available now with any sort of view would be on deck 6 mid ships around bar central....

  12. I am pretty sure that they are going to have a meet and greet get together from CC..... as far as any sailaway get togethers, i really do not know....I was just trying to find out if anyone has sailed on deck 14 in a spa mini suite....Me, i did not do my homework, when i booked this cabin....and then to find out that i am below the pool deck.....i called to try and change to a different category, but no luck....ncl prices went sky high....so i am staying put....was told that these cabins, have a lot of noise being as the pool deck is above us, and all vibrations....

we will be on the Dec 13 Breakaway too...we have a aft balcony on 9 for this cruise but we have been in the corner suites on 14 and 13 and 9 and had absolutely no issues with noise...no vibrations...I read and read about all the unhappy cruisers on the aft with noise and vibrations but honestly it is not like that.....we love love love the aft...we'll move up to a suite closer to final payment if the prices are right....and we have been known to have a sailaway party or two ....even a stripper pole.....:p:p:D:cool:

  13. edit...I was wrong...I just checked my 4/19 repo reservation and it does show the whole 200.00 OBC for our reservation....sorry........and yet again another look down lower on the vacation summery under amenity details it does just show my 100.00 OBC......I'm all done agrivating now.....:o

  14. Hi can anyone help me to save a phone call to ncl, booked in January when promotion first came out and opted for drinks package and $200 OBC. just checked on my reservation on NCL website and states $100 OBC , is this right does it show as Per person or do I need to query this.

your reservation on the website will show 100.00 OBC for you...if the other person traveling with you has a log in ID on the NCL website their reservation would also show 100.00 OBC for them.....:D..

  15. Hi All,

As you can see in my signature, we are going on the Breakaway in June. I was wondering if anyone knows how to have the photo/drawing of the boat appear in the signature? The ship has been out for over a year, so I would think by now they'd have a photo of it to include in the signatures.

just go on Google images and type in Norwegian Breakaway...you will get hundreds of of pics to choose from...pick one and save it to your PC....if it is bigger than 80 by 80 pixels you will have to resize it...I use this free website

    http://resizepic.com/

    hope this helps....

ok sorry after re reading this I thought you wanted an avatar pic...a signature pic would work the same way altho I don't think you's need to resize it......

  16. Those fresh Maine lobster out of the Atlantic ocean's salt water are frozen as they have been dealing with several blizzards lately - besides, it's really out of season so I don't know where NCL is sourcing their frozen ones. It's not a big deal.

As long as NCL continue to serve smoked salmon at breakfast time and offer salmon in the MDR, I will be satisfied. Tuna would be great but I hardly see them serving Monk Fish anymore, using plain white fillet of fish ??? instead.

Jumbo shrimps are fine (calling them "prawns" is questionable given their sizes after it's cooke) but if they serve up those giant ones we saw down in Cabo while we're doing the Star on the Mexico Rivera a few years ago - the size of one's extended hand - I would dive in for them.

Now, let me know if anyone spot these soft shell ones @ 2.75 lbs on any NCL ships' speciality dining room and then we can "talk"

    Maine-SDC72.jpg

    # Yeah, NOT on NCL cruises - no, they don't and won't have these. Dream on !

    not true...:D

  17. prem was the HD on the cruise.

Very interesting information. Perhaps that was it. All I know is although I'm prone to motion sickness, I take precautions. I had Bonine in my system and my electronic Relief Band on, which is a wondrous item that usually does the trick. Not this time. Maybe I'd better stick to older ships. Any idea when these new regulations took effect?

I'm very sorry you didn't feel well fearless leader but I gotta be honest and ask...was it rough...?....I didn't notice any unusual movement or sounds in the ship at all.....I do sleep much better when it's rough....:p:D

  18. Excellent review! I almost feel like I was there--wait a minute, I was there. :D I'm amazed that all you were billed for the seasickness shot was $14.50. Somebody on the ship complained that they were billed over $100 for a trip to the medical center, but probably for something different than seasickness. It seemed to me, too, that this ship had a lot of movement and vibration. Is that typical of large ships? Did you experience that on Oasis?

We liked the Manhattan Room, and kicked ourselves for not trying it sooner. The service was quicker and more efficient in there, and the live music was nice.

Kudos to you for doing as well as you did at the meet & greet. So what if you called them Royal Caribbean? We figured it out, right? Thanks for all the work you put into it. It never fails to amaze me when people ask the whiny questions. Asking about free laundry when you haven't even been on the ship 24 hours yet? Give me a break! The gift swap was a nice idea, too. I've got to figure out what to do with my dried fish from Maine, which I thought was quirky, but really creative and very local!

here in Down East Maine we just call dried fish Down East Chewing Gum....just tear off a junk and chew on it.....I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to come talk with you about it at the M&G.....hope you enjoy it....:D:D:cool:.

  19. What happens when Carnival pisses you off?

Things happen...my xmas cruised dropped 40% but I still had a good time.

    Just enjoy the cruise.

we have had price drops after final payment on a number of cruises and NCL will always give us 25 % of the drop in OBC...not too bad when we were already happy with our price....

  20. Thank you all.

I found an old trip report confirming that 9134 has bed near balcony so the port side is labeled correctly on deck plan for that cabin.

Thanks for pointing out that it's not an every/other configuration Valen9! I totally missed that. I see where 9126 and 1926 are rooms right next to each other but both have the bed near closet.

It looks like 9126 has bed near closet with the headboard on the forward wall of the cabin and 9128 has bed near closet with headboard on the aft wall of cabin.

The starboard side of forward cabins on deck 9 show that all headboard are on the aft wall of the cabin.

It's a weird pattern on the deck plans; so I can see how NJ Johnny's cabin was mislabeled, but it looks like at least the forward cabins on the port side are labeled correctly (since 9134 was confirmed correct).

I'll be sure to update this thread after I've sailed :).

as Got Tequila? said our room 9710 Starboard the bed was next to the closet and the headboard was on the bow side wall of the cabin.
