  1. Followup: Shortly after contacting the credit card issuer, Paypal posted a credit to my account.  The refund may have actually been issued by MartiniqueExcursions.com (also dba. InternationalExcursions.com) at the time the excursion was cancelled and held up by PayPal.  That being said, there is still no excuse for the near complete lack of communication with this provider.  There is no way I would put myself through that again.

  2. We booked a shore excursion through MartiniqueExcursions.com before our February 13, 2019 Holland America cruise and were charged $150 through PayPal.  We did not receive any information on how to meet the tour in Fort de France and it took several attempts to contact them and about two weeks before I finally was able to talk to someone with the company, it then took yet another set of call attempts and another conversation before they followed through and sent us information on meeting the tour.  Two days before we arrived in Martinique, I received an email from them saying one of their vehicles had an accident and they would have to cancel.  The email indicated they had processed a refund.  I have still not received a refund nor have I been able to reach anyone with the company.  The charge is now in dispute on with the credit card issuer.  Enough said.

  3. We're in the same boat (perhaps literally--Koningsdam March 1?) having never been to Bonaire and a with last minute booking. I've done a lot of looking on the internet at excursions besides those from the cruise line and recommended sights.  There's a donkey sanctuary near Kralendijk, just a short cab ride away, a 14000 acre natural area at the north end of the island called Washington Shagbaai National Park that seems mostly undeveloped and the pictures of the coastline are beautiful.  Goto Lake has a Flamingo nesting area which I understand is visible as a pinkish tinge at the far end of the lake when you take a tour to the slave cabins on the shore.  We looked into renting a car for the day, but the rental agencies in town have a three day minimum rental so now we're trying to put something together on our own.

  4. We were going to rent a car for the day in Bonaire but it seems the rental companies require a three day minimum, at least for rental in Kralendijk. One response suggested I try the airport rental offices.  Has anyone tried this?  We're only in port from 8 until 6 so adding the time for taxi to and from the airport might also be a concern.

  5. I just called Princess and they have resumed full services on Princess Cays effective February 4 following the fire on January 29.  They are not diverting ships to other Carnival owned private ports in the Bahamas.  I was told the fire did not damage any passenger amenities other than one restroom but was confined to infrastructure including the desalinization facility etc.
