Hopefully, they don't go into bankruptcy reorganization before then or the refunds could go down the tubes with their other obligations. Not that I think that is likely, but I don't think it's totally impossible either.

Honestly, that’s been my fear, too. Like you said, probably not going to happen but you never know.

  2. I went to the steakhouse bar on the Dream this past May for a watermelon martini while my husband was getting ready for dinner. It was not busy, but you could tell the bar staff was not happy I was there. He practically threw the drink menu down on the bar with a huff after I'd already told him I was just wanting a watermelon martini and would then be leaving. It was the only negative moment of the entire cruise. All other staff were probably the best out of 6 cruises.

  3. Just off the Dream this past Sunday, and I asked for a margarita w/ Herradura. The bartender said she could do it, but I would only get half the amount of tequila. She "suggested" I go with the El Jimador in order to get the full pour. This was at the Serenity bar.

Don't buy into that crap ...... We had people from all over the world on our MSC sailing and it was delightful conversation. I have to laugh at the shoving comments ......

Thank you for the reply! The Seaside Yacht Club experience has my name on it!

  5. Can anyone answer what ppl are meaning by cultural differences? I’ve ran across the odd Irish or English citizen in my travels and they’ve always been friendly and polite.

I’m an introvert, so I’m good with not talking with strangers. But I worry abt the claims of shoving and getting elbowed out of the way👀

I respectfully attribute those comments to cultural intolerance. There are definitely tons of nationalities onboard, unlike a Carnival cruise where the vast majority of cruisers are Americans. On our last MSC cruise, we only met one other American family. Everybody else was either from European or Asian countries. Needless to say, everybody had a different idea about etiquette and what’s socially acceptable.

Yes, we encountered various degrees of behaviors, ranging from curious, bizarre, funny, to objectionable. But that’s a byproduct of traveling in such a culturally diverse environment. We embraced it and allowed it to enrich our travels rather than let it bother us. But I can see how many Americans would be completely annoyed and turned off by it.

Thanks for the balanced and fair review! I really want to give this line a try. The Seaside has crazy cheap rates. For now, anyway.

  7. I'm in the same boat. The Yacht Club on the Seaside looks amazing and a pretty good price. But....the reviews are scary.  My biggest fear is the consistent and significant complaint about the passengers. A lot of are talking about pushing, shoving, and elbows being thrown while in lines. If this was just 1-2 reviews, that would be one thing. But I'm seeing the above fairly regularly.

  8. My husband and I are about to go on our 6th cruise, and I feel like I have good discernment/can read between the lines of negative reviews. We've never been on MSC, but I'm really trying to talk him into cruising on the Seaside. The ship looks amazing, and the YC experience seems very reasonably priced. But I gotta be honest, the negative reviews are very concerning. The complaints seem to be significant and consistent. We'll probably end up taking the chance but still...
