  1. Hi everyone. Im looking at booking a 8 nighter on Carnival Splendor for next august, will be myself and my 15 year old daughter. After doing 3 previous cruises on P&O, Im obviously expecting it to be somewhat different.

So if someone has time, could they answer some questions for me, as I understand she is a new ship for Australia.

Do they have a zipline, and/or outside climbing activities ( rock wall, walk the plank etc )? My teen loved that at P&O.

Is there a section where you can and choose your food, like a buffet ( P&O Pantry style)?

Alcohol. Im a wine drinker, how are the prices?

Entertainment. Lots to see? My daughter wont be going to any kind of teen kids club so whatever we see will be looking at together.

Gosh, probably lots more qyestions but a big too excited to think, wasnt planning another cruise for a few years so this has kind of just happened. Oh, and the price we have seen is $869 each for 8 nights to Pacific Island, Noumea, Isle of Pine, Mare. What do you think of this price?

Thank you all so much and please let me know anything and everything 🙂

  3. Ok cruisers, tell me what you can about the Carnival Spirit please? After 2 cruises on the P&O Pacific Eden we are thinking about trying Carnival Spirit to leave from Brisbane to New Caladonia Loyalty Islands next year about Sept or Oct. We are very comfy with P&O lines so "jumping ship" to another is a bit un-nerving :)

So what can you tell me, is it great for kids? I will have a 14 year old with me, she wont be using any of the kids clubs.

And the weather from Brissy, Does the ship rock a fair bit around Sept/Oct? I can get a much cheaper price on P&O Pacific Dawn but its in May and hubby thinks it ill be too rough being the winter season.

Any advice would be much appreciated please.

    Cheers!!

  4. We too just back from same cruise.

We have been on plenty of cruises and many ships over the years and can’t believe the negative reviews on here about the Eden.

The staff were great the entertainment in the many bars was outstanding. Some of the acts in the bars are better than some shows we have seen in the main room on some ships we have been on.

We were a bit apprehensive about going on a p&o cruise due to their poor reputation but were pleasantly surprised.

The food in the pantry was ok but we ate in the dining rooms for dinner all but one night.

Overall a great cruise and excellent value for money.

Hi Daz, so glad to hear a fellow cruiser enjoyed it as much as we did. I was shocked to hear just how some people treat the staff, I heard people complain about a speck of dust in their cabin, a 5 minute wait for a drink and even 1 gentlemen, and I say that loosly, on embarkation very very angry with a lady at reception, yelling at her for the que of people waiting. None of us were complaining in fact, and all 3 computers were staffed so this man just made it bad for himself. I heard a lady having a go at one of the Adventure Edge staff for not listening to her. The poor guy was busy harnessing up her child and had no time to chat, he was ensuring her childs safety. My daughter and I loved the cruise and all it had to offer, and other people really need to stop complaining over a small wait. We are now looking at next year, needs to be ex brisbane. Have you done the Loyalty Islands at all? Any info? cheers

  5. Hi everyone :) My daughter and I have returned back to Cairns after 7 days on the Pacific Eden for her voyage to PNG and it was absolutely amazing. Unfortunately, the weather prevented us from docking at Kitava which was terribly sad for the locals as many of us on board had donations for the children. However, the rest of the trip was just awesome. The staff went above and beyond for us and I cannot thank them enough for their sheer hard work and hospitality. Too often, I see complaints about cruise ship service however after 2 trips on the Eden all I saw were extremely hard working staff who do very long days but always have the energy for a chat and smile. Massive thanks to Adam Mark and Ruby at P&O Edge for their fantastic efforts, you sure made my daughter smile :) Matthew, well words cannot justify just how utterly awesome and brilliant you are! :*:* Our cabin stewards Rothy and Cazy, you work so hard and we thank you so much for looking after us! Neil, Shaun and so many others, you made our holiday just the best. Sadly this was out last trip on the Eden as she is being sold but we hope to see you on another cruise line next year. Cheers and all the best! X

  6. Sorry I should have been clearer You still want to buy the internet pack on board. For cruises over 4 nights I think it's about $100 I'm not sure on cruises under 4 nights.

But if you and your daughter want to stay in touch buy the internet and use an internet based messaging app. Whatsapp is very simple to download and setup.

And most importantly turn off your mobile phone data completely so it won't try to use it on the cruise.

Aha, I think I understand now :) thanks so much for your help

  7. It's highly unlikely she will be able to facetime, some times it's hard to make a clear call.

She is better off using an app like Whatsapp to message her friends, that's how we stay in touch on cruises.

Ah ok, thanks :) Is that the same as texting and if yes do we to get a roaming package from telstra.? Thank you, I remember last cruise getting a bill for 400 or 4 days and I dont know what we did wrong!

  8. You are welcome. Pacific Eden is a great ship and the crew were wonderful so I am sure you will have a great cruise [emoji106]

Yes, I love it, we did a 4 dayer last year and couldnt have been happier, I get quite upset when I hear bad reports about the Eden :( She is a lovely ship and the cabin staff work so hard, harder than most people. Such a shame this is her last year, us Cairns people are without an embarkation ship now for I dont know how long :(

  9. Hi, I was told no alcohol at all ever when embarking but a lady I got talking to the other day is head of security at our port and said 1 bottle of wine is allowed on as a "celebratory" bottle. it is apparently not overly advertised, which I have now done. Yikes! I will be trying this on Friday when I embark.

  10. Hi all. Im off on the Pacific Eden with my 13 year old daughter. Does anyone know if its adults only or all ages? I went on her last year but we didnt attend the party but Im sure I saw kids dressed up in Gatsby Attire. So for this time I have hired costumes and thought I had better ask the question. Rang P and O's customer line, obviously outsourced so I always call twice to double check the answer and I got a Yes for all ages on 1 call and a NO from the next call. Grrrr! Can anyone advise please? Lots of thanks :)

  11. Any other Cairns embarkers here? Have jsut called the port authority to find out if there are any other cruise ships coming here as their home port after Eden goes and they have no information on anything for at least 2 years!! Really sucks that we now have the added expense of flying to a home port. Does anyone have anymore info at all? Have tried calling P and O but the wait time is crazy. Cheers

  12. After moving to Cairns a year ago and loving that we could cruise from here without the added expense of flying elsewhere for embarkation, its disheartening to here that Pacific Eden is being sold overseas, so where does that leave us Cairns travellers? The Port Authority here cant answer this so I guess it means added costs of flights now. Any other Cairns embarkers have any ideas or heard anything on happens for us now? Cheers
