  1. On my first cruise we booked an excursion for a snorkeling trip to Coki beach in St Thomas in the afternoon. That morning my brother and I were impatient and didn't feel like waiting around so we went to the dock and told a cab driver to take us to a beach where we could snorkel. We snorkeled all morning and went back to the ship and ate lunch and then met up for our excursion. As the bus took us along we realized we we going right back to where we were before. We just looked at each other and shook our heads because we knew we just got ripped off.  It all depends on what your doing and what your budget is and what you want to do. On my last cruise I paid for a snorkeling excursion to go to a little patch of sand/island in Belize and it was great. There is alot of great advice on this site and others about each port and how you can save money. A cruise is one of the best vacations for value, but the ship will try to get in your pocket the entire time you are on it. I take it as a challenge.

    hi Will

So, you do understand, there is nothing that is sure. I too had many appealing offers and don't have any constraints on my time, but without even knowing if I would be allowed to travel out of my country, what would be the point of booking anything. My concern (not including medical questions) is for those that see a really well priced cruise (and this may be their first) who put out money and may not get what they had hoped for.

In regards to your last point with your casino plans. Again, might I suggest you have a plan B. You likely aren't the only one in that type of situation and it is always a possibility to find the casino changing rules on you. Don't forget, they have lost a lot of money and if they see an open tap that they can close, I would think they might do so.

Either way, good luck. Hope you all have a great cruise.

I think Carnival is playing the odds as well. I would think the best odds of getting most of their money back would be to giving that cash out at the cage and letting me/us walk past those tables and machines for a week without dropping a good portion of that back. I bet those slots tighten up a notch or two as well. I'm booked for the 27th out of Galveston and although I doubt this cruise sails if it does it's going to be a blast.

  3. I saw a manatee snorkeling on the excursion that takes you to the little Rendezvous island. It's a good one. The guide says next time go to the blue hole. The Roatan, Tabyana beach was good too, but watch out for shallow coral, nobody shows you how to properly navigate it. Cozumel, Pal Mar beach estate is a good spot that's lonely. Watch out for the current though, you will get pulled way down the beach.
