  1. I find it funny that the difference between 2 tables for 2 and sitting at a table for 4 with strangers is about 4 inches. Last week, we did not request the same waitstaff (I would have actually preferred different, but not enough to say anything), but got the same section all week. Except for the first night, we were at the same table. I noticed there were a few others in the area that were seated at the same tables night after night as well.

  2. Tap water will not kill you, and would be fine for the week. Just rinse out the tank every day for any particles. You will only be inhaling the water vapor as it evaporates. It just leaves the minerals in the water behind. When I use it, I use tap water. Not killed me yet in over 20 years of use. In the humid Caribbean, I don't even use the humidifier.

  3. It would be nice if he didn't say "there are no plans", especially if he knows that there are plans in the works that aren't public yet. There are better wording to use to make him not sound like a liar but still not reveal insider information. My opinion of JH dropped greatly in Mar 2020 when I asked about our cruise disappearing from the website a few days before our cruise. His response was "there are no plans to cancel cruises." Then just hours later I am the recipient of one of the first cancellation e-mails. I don't think any amount of free strawberries or ships on a stick will get the bad taste out of my mouth from that blatant lie. I give him the benefit of the doubt that the "beards" might not have told him about plans, but there most certainly were plans.

But JH saying there are no plans does nothing for me to say this rumor is not true. Until they announce the venues will be free until X date, I would not be surprised to see upcharges start.

Pretty sure that is not correct.  We are platinum on Carnival with over 100 days.  We cruised in Jan and back in September.  We already had other cruises (5) booked for this April, September, two for next year and the Jubilee for April 2024.  Yet we both received the birthday sale offers back in March and were able to book two cruises for half price.

The birthday sale is for the general public.

This is marketing 101. Why spend money on customers you already have loyal to you, when it can be spent on getting new loyal customers? As a stock holder, I approve this tactic. As a customer, not so much.

  5. Because you are already cruising with them without offers, it is not in their interest to give you one. Take business elsewhere and then they will probably try to lure you back with deals. Had the same thing happen with Disney when the kids were younger. Go at least once a year, and only get the general public deals. Stop going for a couple of years, and the special offers start coming in.

I've heard there were issue with bi-pap machines because they require an oxygen source (?).

But OP.. just pack your CPAP in it's carrying case and bring it on board with you.  Should be room to stick an extension chord in there somewhere.  You're not talking extensive distances.  And yes ship water for 5-7 days is fine.  Maybe use a new filter or change filters when you get home.

Not even all BiPAP machines use oxygen. It is just having oxygen tanks that are restricted. I never use distilled water, even at home. I just clean out the tank every so often. Any sediment in the water is just going to be left in the tank. It is not going to effect the machine operation or what you breathe in. In the Caribbean humidity, probably don't even need a humidifier.

That's a thing you can do? Never heard of it. Then again, I usually pay pretty early. Only reason I've waited out paying on this one is the uncertainty of the whole industry the last year.

Yes. For my April 3 cruise (which I have since moved), I had moved the final payment from Jan 3 to Feb 18. BTW, no reason to pay them off early. Stick the money in savings and earn some interest instead of letting Carnival do it.

I cancelled one of my Carnival cruises and got everything back but the OBC. I have another in December of '21 which was purchased with gift cards that I'm keeping unless things go sideways. After that, I'm pushing DH to find another line.

This is why I will rebook if the first leg of my Mar/Apr B2B gets cancelled. Its paid with gift cards, so if I took a refund, Carnival will still have my cash and I lose the OBC. The 2nd leg has only the deposit on cc, and they are not getting another penny until there is progress that it will sail.

In grand scheme of things, the survival of your favourite cruise line, and the prompt back to operation is the most important theme.

No. The survival of a company or even an industry is not more important than my freedom of choice. I will not cruise if masks are required. My wife cannot wear a mask. She has panic attacks if anything gets too close to her face for any period of time. If masks are required to cruise, our vacation dollars will be spent doing something else.

Thanks for the tip!  I wasn't sure whether the FCC would cover the deposit or not.  We filled out the form Carnival sent last week but haven't gotten any correspondence since then, so we didn't have any idea how that worked.  We have done mock bookings but haven't gone as far as the point where we'd have to put down a deposit.  We're obviously apprehensive about spending any more money right now, especially on a vacation that is more than a year in the future.

My husband was under the impression that we could not apply the FCC to the next cruise until the refund was granted, and he was not super enthused about waiting at least 9- days to rebook.

I appreciate your expertise so much.  Thank you!

If you read the fine print, it is not supposed to, but my PVP was able to do it, as have others. You won't be able to apply the FCC without calling Carnival anyway, so I would recommend calling the PVP line and getting one if you don't have one already. I would recommend mine, but board rules prohibit posting PVPs.

The new cruise that we're looking at costs more than the previous cruise. Should we go ahead ad book the July 2021 cruise now?  My husband doesn't want to do that because he says "we will have too much money tied up with Carnival" but I'm itching to get it booked before the rooms we want get booked.  I'd love to hear some opinions from more experiences cruisers.  This will only be our third cruise.

I would go ahead and book if you are definitely going with the FCC/OBC option. As long as you have enough FCC to cover the deposit, you aren't going to have any more money tied up than you do now. We rolled over our 2 times cancelled cruise to add a B2B to our March 2021 cruise. But Carnival isn't getting another cent until they start operations again.

We also paid for a large portion of our July 2020 cruise with gift cards.  We opted for the FCC with $600 per room OBC.  We want to rebook for July 2021, but my husband won't rebook until we get the gift cards back from Carnival.  Our trip was just cancelled last week, so I was wondering how long we'll be waiting.  Sounds like it could be quite a long time.  It's comforting to know that we aren't the only ones in this position.  I have an impatient hubby who keeps insisting that I call Carnival, and I keep trying to remind him that we don't really have a question or a problem and that calling isn't going to do us any good.  I'll be glad to share what y'all have said.  Thank you!

If you are going to take the FCC, you won't be getting any gift cards back. If the new cruise is cheaper than the original, they can transfer up to $500 in OBC. If it is more than that, then you would get the balance back in gift card.

Unless things have changed in the past year or so, you'll have to call...and even then, be prepared to give some detailed information.

For example, it's not enough to know the other couples booking #, sailing date, etc.  You'll probably be also asked for their PIN # as a security precaution.  Last time I attempted to do this, the rep told me that without you knowing that PIN # their hands were tied....even if the other couple haven't assigned a PIN # to their sailing yet.

In essence, the way it was described to me, the other couple have to call Carnival, establish a PIN #, then tell you what that # is.  From there, you can take their info, call Carnival, and link the bookings.

Bottom line, for me, it was easier just to wait to get on the ship then go to Guest Services.

    Garnett

When I did it, I did not need a PIN. I just gave my PVP the other couple's name, room, and booking number, and he took care of it for us.
