  1. I am jumping in here as I did not post the post you are referring to. We are going on Carnival Paradise August 18th cruise. We have booked by email Cubaoutings.com for day 1' date=' a tour of Havana, and Cuba among Cubans for the 2nd day, a trip to Vinales. Both were recommended by earlier travelers and have good reviews on TripAdvisor. I will post our experiences with these private companies when we get home.[/quote']

Awesome, I look forward to hearing how it goes! Bon Voyage!

  2. We are on a Carnival cruise in March 2019 and intended to check SFTCP on the affidavit. The idea that someone from Carnival could make me change my affidavit (in order to get a visa) is disturbing.

How do people go about handling this situation? I have reserved a tour with a private company who tells me that their tour complies with the SFTCP requirement. Don't know if it complies with P2P though.

I agree, very disturbing to be strong armed into this. We are considering this cruise. Do you mind sharing your tour operator?

  3. We submitted a form online through the carnival website and I just pointed out the differences, all were in favor of the private company such as shorter travel time and we wouldn't have to carry our tubes and for a cheaper price.

If Butt's Up had so many things in favor of them, and were cheaper, then why go with Carnival Shore Excursion?

  4. Why not just specify your preference when you book the cruise? That's one of the basic items we note, along with bed configuration, etc.

If it were an option, as I believe it used to be, with a Carnival booking I would have. As it stands, we can only select early, late or your time. I prefer a set time because the staff learns to cater to your preferences. For example, a bottle of Perrier waiting or your adult beverage brought to you as sit down.

  5. It has been awhile since we last cruised, but I thought you could let the cruise line (Carnival in this case) know that you prefer to dine alone rather than at a large table. It is our 15th wedding anniversary and we just would like to dine and enjoy each other. Is that still possible to get that set up in advance?

  6. Personally, I would do both the Cozumel wall, and the outer reef like Cay Caulker off the coast from Belize City. It's two different kinds of diving. Cozumel generally is drift diving, deep along a wall, and Belize offers an easier style of laid back shallow diving, amongst the coral. Both sites offer fantastic diving.

I guess I have just gotten spoiled living in Florida and diving the Keys as well as many wrecks in the Gulf as well as the reefs on the east coast of Florida. We have most recently been cruise diving in Aruba, and dive with Liquid Blue in Cozumel every opportunity we get. I have read some reviews that Belize Blue Hole should not be missed, not an option on a cruise, but the reefs are nothing special that I have not already seen.

  7. My wife and I are both scuba divers, and likely will be diving at least one other time on this cruise in Cozumel, So, trying to decide if we should enjoy the diving in Belize as well, or go ashore and see some sites, possibly Mayan ruins. Any thoughts or suggestions? The time in port really does not allow for both.
