  1. One thing to do is VERY closely follow Southwest Airlines about 8 months before you want to travel. On the morning they release rates, you can get amazing deals! We are flying from Nashville to Fort Lauderdale round trip for $150pp! I snagged them within 2 hours of the rate release (happens in morning). That alone saved our family of 4 almost $1000.

Secondly, if you can take kids out of school, book in May or September on Carnival. The rates are much cheaper and both are great times to cruise if you can be a little flexible (hurricaine season).

Our cruise (in 3 weeks, family of 4) budget is the following. Please know we cruise for the ports and excursions, so that part of our budget is higher than many.

    1. Cruise with tips $2700

    2. Flights $600

    3. Airport parking $100

    4. Shore Excursions with tips $1800

    5. Airport Shuttles $150

    6. Specialty Dining $220

$5570 total...so maybe $6000 after a few drinks and all.

Not bad! for family of 4 in 3 weeks, this'd also the expense I'd expect.

  2. There was a good selection of liquor during cocktail hour and I could get a Bloody or martini at lunch at no extra cost. They also left a bottle of scotch in our cabin and gave me a bottle of Empress blue gin, both at no charge.

Woah that's cool. May i know what american cruise line is that?

  3. What is a "proper caution" ?

Sent from my SM-T580 using Forums mobile app

Such as using the right volts of your adaptor unto its volt of outlets(in the ships) glady they provide 110 and 220 volts power outlets in it. Also, According to rcc website, the things that are exempted to the ban of things that can generate heat are hairy dryers and curling irons. I know that because my wife does bring her own hair dryer because the one that is provided in the ship is really awful, well according to her.

  4. The ship's GPS aerials are located at the highest points of the ship, so they have an unrestricted view of the entire sky - as the receiver requires a minimum of 3 sats, preferably at least 4 or more.

Having driven on/off passenger Ro/Ro's way too many times, as soon as you enter the vehicle decks you loose GPS signals. A cruise ship has even more steel than a Ro/Ro, so no your trackers would not receive any GPS signals.

In 40 years of cruising, we have never lost a suitcase, some have gone missing and arrived later in the evening, but none were ever lost.

Thanks for telling your experience Heidi and this will serve as a tip as well, appreciate it a lot. Thanks!

  5. We drink rarely--maybe a glass of wine at holiday dinners-- so it wouldn't make any difference to us. In fact, I've never bought a drink on board, just don't need it or want it.

Do others really think people who don't drink are judgemental and 'temperance'? I suppose some are, but not us.

It might make a cruise more expensive though, without the revenue from alcohol.

Absolutely, one of my thoughts too. The fare could get more expensive due to the absence of those but I also think, on the other hand, that the cruise fare could get cheaper as well since the cruise won't be that luxurious without those alcoholic drinks and etc.

  6. I see. Many thanks to everyone for telling their opinions. Too bad, I wasn't being patient and that I've already bought one. Yes, I've just noticed during my second research that trakdot doesn't use gps. So I've watched some reviews of the people who have trackimo and purchased it yesterday. Hopefully it's not too late to regret for I wasn't able to wait for your replies which are mostly disagreeing to the use of these devices and hoping also, that this device will work accurately. Anyway, I appreciated all of your advices. I'll be updating soon if the device worked well. Thanks, once again.

  7. Hello everyone. I'm new to in this forum. I'd just like to ask if do you guys have tried using a gps tracker device for your luggage when in cruise ship? I've searched these two products(trakdot and trackimo) which are most likely to be compared for gps trackers and would be open to accept your opinions regarding about it. Also, do you think they're recommendable to use for your luggage or is there nothing to worry with the cruise ship security and that there'll be no need for trackers?
