Me:  Hmmm, I had a steak and eggs breakfast and I have a sushi lunch reservation in a half hour. I’m gonna pass on whatever canapés this butler is starting to hand out on the retreat deck.

Celebrity Cruises:  Madam Charla, may I offer you a Kobe beef slider with truffle aioli?

Me:  On the other hand, moderation is for quitters. 😂

The spousal unit feels the same way, although he puts it "I'm all for moderation, as long as there is plenty of it!"  This is the first review of yours that I've read and enjoying it immensely, I hope I have the fortune to cross paths with you someday! Thank you for taking the time to do this. We get on Silhouette in 3 weeks ; )

  2. 2 questions:

    1) I received an email that we could call to upgrade our internet package to the higher speed based on the Captain's Club discount. I tried a couple of times but they are very busy and hold times significant. Does anyone know if I can take advantage of the discount upgrading when I get on board?

    2) Where would I find the emergency number that you can leave for family to get a hold of you while on the ship? My searching is giving the number that I would call because I have an emergency (maybe it's the same?) TIA!

  3. On our first post shutdown cruise (Oct 2021), the ship's staff were talking to us about how they were not permitted to get off at the ports. We did a little shopping for some of them to pick up grocery type items. Is that still the case? We were thinking of doing a shopping run before we get on our cruise next week (costco or somewhere similar) to stock up on individually packaged snacks, feminine products, etc to bring on board. Has anyone does this? Should we not do this? It didn't seem like anyone was worried about getting in trouble for this at that time. Our plan was just to leave it for the steward to pass out to their friends as needed. And before anyone asks, this is not in place of any gratuities (auto and extras), we were just trying to help out since they could not get off the ship and we could.

  4. Good evening, I have a bit of OBC to use up and thinking about splurging on a massage while onboard Silhouette. Can anyone tell me more specifically what the difference is between a deep tissue massage and a swedish massage?  I'm looking for mostly a relaxing experience. I think the deep tissue would be the one to try. Welcome any suggestions!

If you stop to think about it, virtually everyone “changes tiers” partway through a cruise. It would be astonishing to get the exact right number of points on the last day of the previous cruise.  So that is why they only count completed Cruises. If a passenger was invited to an elite event before, it was at the discretion of the Captains Club host who was being kind, but that should not be considered a precedent

Well of course this makes perfect sense. When I counted up, we would 'turn' on the second to last day so I won't bother with this. Thank you!

  6. Does anyone know what happens when you change levels in the middle of a cruise. Are you able to use the benefits associated with the higher level immediately or could you go to reception on the day you move up to change your status? Or is it based on a completed cruise period?

  7. Has anyone had luck purchasing a dining package after purchasing one restaurant reservation? I scheduled the first night (discounted) dinner at one of the specialty restaurants and can't seem to get the dining package for subsequent reservations to go through. I suppose I could cancel the first night and try to repurchase after the specialty but wondering if I'm just missing something or if others have suggestions. TIA!

  8. Good evening all! Just completed our check in for an upcoming cruise. DH and I are showing 2 different codes on our express pass, can anyone explain what these mean? DH is showing "Select" under his name which I assume to be our captain's club level. But mine is showing "Select - Pearl". Any clue with the Pearl is?

  9. So sad I have to ask this (it's been tooo long) but looking at flights post-cruise out of Fort Lauderdale. There is a 11:20am option from FLL or 12ish something out of Miami. Too early? I cannot remember the usual allowance for the life of me. This will be a TA. Also trying to determine if the option to have the cruise line deal with the luggage until I pick it up at my final destination is available. We did it once before but don't remember what the program was called but do remember that it was only available at certain airports.

Any input for this addled brain would be appreciated! Thanks ; )

  10. I haven't received a response yet from the Celebrity Customer Service email. I'll give them a few more days and then try to call the Captain's Club number next week. It never hurts to politely ask but this does admittedly put a bit of a bad taste in my mouth that they haven't proactively offered a standardized approach or response. If I can't use the credit I will likely end up cancelling the big Australia cruise in order to book a closer one within the timeframe because vacation time at work is a consideration.

  11. Thanks for the replies, bummer. Our cruise doesn't have an earlier sail since it's the repositioning. I suppose I can hope they move the sail date up into September from the currently scheduled of 10/3. This year's TA was just moved up 3 weeks. They stand to gain more 'new' money if I am able to take that cruise than if I need to cancel and book an earlier one that wasn't in the plans.

If they picked the timeline based on their belief they would be traveling by December 2020 (or whenever), pushing out the allowable timeframe an equivalent number of months to when you could actually use it seems reasonable. But I suppose I'm not juggling the finances for a cruise line and their stockholders. I reached out to celebrity customer service so we'll see what sort of response is received.

  12. Hello! I am curious if anyone has heard whether Celebrity will extend the timeframe on FCC taken for cancelled cruises? We had our Oct 2020 Australia cancelled, attempted to use part of it March 2021 which was also cancelled. We will be using some of it September 2021 but still have some left over. We rebooked Australia for October 2022 but apparently the timeframe won't permit this? This would be incredibly disappointing if Celebrity doesn't extend the timeframe since we tried to use it within the timeframe but the world wasn't open yet. Has anyone heard anything about this? TIA
