I am leaving a cruise with my family on Saturday to Cozumel and Costa Maya. I saw this....travel advisory for mexico stating 8 bodies have been found in cancun......Would you still think it would be safe to take a taxi to nearby beaches etc in cozumel?

Thank you, not to sound like a crazy person, but in light of all of the "illegal immigrant" news I just wasn't sure

I haven't been to either of these spots, but was hoping someone that has been to either of them recently could share if they felt safe during the transport to and from the cruise terminal. We will have our 4 year old with us, so dont want to leave anything to chance. Thank you in advance for any info!!

We will be porting in Montego Bay, and just want to take a cab to a beach with nice sand and enjoy a few hours of swimming.

I’ve heard that it’s not safe to travel around without using a cruise line excursion, but I’m wondering if that’s true or if it’s just the cruise lines trying to scare people into booking with them.

We will have a 6yrold and an 8yrold with us.

I have only been to Jamaica 1 time (12 years ago)and when we did we stayed at a very expensive place, there were guards with guns strapped to their chests at the gate. That being said I felt comfortable while there and ventured out to Duns Falls with no problems. With kids, I may side with the cruise line in booking with them.

My husband, kid and myself are going on a cruise and visiting 2 ports, Cozumel and Costa Maya. One of the days we want to do a family excursion, and one day a romantic excursion. Any ideas on the romantic? My child is a toddler so at this age, he will be happy with whatever we choose to do on the other day.
