  1. I loved The Woman in Cabin 10!

I would also recommend "Murder, She Wrote--Murder on the QE2" if you like murder/mystery books. It's the book series based on the show "Murder, She Wrote" and I find them to be really fun mystery reads! This one takes place on an ocean liner. :)

I know I am half way through the Girl in Cabin 10. The twist and turns are so good. Keeping me from thinking...and obsessing...over our next cruise. [emoji3]

I do like murder mysteries. When I found out it was set on a cruise ship I knew I had to read it.

I will check out Murder on the QE2.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

  2. I recommend CODES ,a novel about Native Americans in the 19th.century

Other books I recommend are Forever -a novel about a man who lives several hundred years in NYC and Of Times Rembered-a fictionalized about of a murder that took place in NYC in 1955 .

    I read Codes! I love it. [emoji3]

    Someone loves time travel...

That Out of Times Remembered sounds awesome!

    Thanks! [emoji74]

  3. It published in 1941. I read it as a young boy and became fascinated about the sea. Many pictures of the voyage. Really makes you appreciate the ship that you are on and picture yourself on that raft. Really a mental trip.

Very inexpensive on Amazon. I keep several copies on hand to leave one in the ships library when we cruise. That's the impact that it had on me. Happy sailing. Harry

    I looked it up!

I love books like this...I started several years ago trying...and I emphasize trying...to read all the Noble Prize books. I finished Growth of the Soil by Knut Hamson. Beautiful book. Made me appreciate plain life in Norway full of love and loss!

I can see getting involved in this one.

    Thanks again!

  4. Well speaking for myself definitely not too much! I found those posts about the app very helpful (and pretty sure the nerd nation, or even those of us in the nerd closet, here will agree :D ). I definitely need to take another look - I think I sent in a note to them about the error and have had no word. But, one more try after this positive report from you!! Thanks so much for making that effort! :)

Hmmmm... we have Apple everything, maybe my difficulty with the app was Google trying to punish me!? Hope not!

    Lynn

Maybe, my friend used it and she was able to add her reservations...not so much any tours she was doing. She had a hard time dealing with the app on a iPhone.

This is why I kept saying if you have a android device, Google and apple don't play nice in the sandbox!

Maybe Google will get their act together and fix it. 🤞

  5. I always recommend "The Kon-Tiki Expedition" by Thor Heyerdahl. Six men cross the Pacific on a balsa raft from the coast of Peru to the Pacific islands to prove the islands were first inhabited by people from South America. Interesting story and true.
Love this one. I will check it out.

  6. I am assuming that you have a android phone. I agree that Google Trips only recognize half my reservations. I found that uninstalling, or even just deleting the memory in the app helps with this.

It was still hit or miss. I just added everything manually.

I don't agree that you can't force add. I just added a excursion for Corinto Nicaragua under the city and the things to do section.

  7. Large online TAs earn 10 to 16% Commission on the base fare (excluding port fees, taxes, gratuities and insurance), depending on the cabin category and price you pay.

So, an Online TA will usually give you a discount up to 10% of the base fare (without port fees, taxes or gratuities) or equivalent OBC.

Found this out the hard way...I will shop around and book directly with the cruise line, airline and hotel!

  8. In the google trips app. If you don't have a android phone, most everything is manual.

So when you open the app it asks you..."where do you want to go?" You can organize it the way you want, but I typed in Miami. Since we are starting our vacation in Miami flying in the day before.

Now you could just explore Miami, with all the info, but about half way down the screen is "create trip" that's where you begin the process of inputting your trip information. [ATTACH]429030[/ATTACH]

After you create trip. Then you can add destinations, change the name...oh and for the person who said reservations didn't add well...here is the screen shot of our cruise reservations.

And then the info that is stored. Obviously I have paper copies of everything but is they are left at home at least I have all the confirmation #s.

  9. I'm trying to add other reservation e-mails to the trips. Have you successfully added excursions, ground transportation, etc. in the app? I was really hoping it would work the way it does in Inbox, where I add an e-mail to the trip. Unfortunately, Inbox constantly unbundles trips, so neither option is working well for me. Please help!

  10. Lynn,

I posted the google trips app earlier in this thread. It is great. If you have a android phone it automatically adds your reservations. If not you can add them manually.

It has my reservations. Then for the cruise it allows you to add your cities or ports of call. When you click on a city after added, it has excursions, maps, discounts and emergency services.

Here is a screen shot of my upcoming vacation...

  11. Prices really have gone up, a balcony room on our Europe cruise in May 2019 is over $7k. A inside room is over $4k! We sailed on the Spirit on a two week European cruise two years ago and paid $2200 for a balcony including the drink and dining package.
This is our first cruise. 14 day full canal transit. I was shocked by how much we paid for a inside room. Well over 3k.

But it is a bucket list cruise, and we wanted more of an adult's cruise. So we bit the bullet. I am hoping to upgrade. But will be happy with our room.
