  1. Hey All

We booked our first cruise ever and it shows we have a dining time of 6 pm. How does that work? Cause there are several places you can eat free of charge. So does that mean at 6 we go to the destination of our choice?

  2. Missing the cruise due to flight issues is not (usually) a covered reason for insurance reimbursement. Just FYI. And even with CFAR = Cancel For Any Reason insurance, there are stipulated reasons and time frames for those reasons. Again, cancelling the day of or missing the cruise isn't a covered reason.

I know you have posted before about this cruise & DW land trip. It just seems like you are making life SO difficult and stressful and not relaxing for a honeymoon/vacation.

Well sadly we don't control our jobs and when they will let us off and we ain't rich enough to hand over $400 to united to reschedule our flight a day earlier. So it is what it is

  3. Sadly we will not be able to fly in early or change our flight. Days off from work prevent that and I am not paying united $400 to change my flight to one day earlier already asked. We will get insurance and if we miss the cruise we will enjoy Orlando for the whole time and go back to a cruise later in the year. Its in gods hands now

  4. FWIW... here is an example cancellation schedule for my upcoming Celebrity cruise...

It will vary from promotion to promotion' date=' but to book my cruise, I had to pay the deposit, with the balance due 90 days prior to the cruise. I also took out travel insurance at the same time as the cruise, and booked the flight within a week. (The price was too good with a good flight schedule).

Please do NOT fly in on the day of the cruise. That is simply begging for flight delays to add additional stress. A same-day flight means you are flying out at 6 AM, and by the time you are on-board ship, you are dog-tired.

Also, a passport book is highly recommended in the unlikely event you have to depart the cruise early and have to fly back to the states. Make sure the passport is valid for at least six months beyond the expected cruise conclusion date.[/quote']

Have no choice but to fly out same day and its already booked and yes its 6 am but we will sleep on flight and such. Is what it is if we miss the cruise I will have insurance we will still fly to Orlando for our other part of trip and we will use our refund on a cruise later in the year I guess

  5. Hello

We going on a weekend cruise in Feb. We leaving out of NJ . Then we spending a week in Orlando after the cruise. Our biggest concern is what happens if the morning of our flight we have a snow storm and cant make the cruise later that after noon. So even if the airline would let us fly the next day we would still be able to do the Orlando part of the trip

Anyone recommend a travel insurance that would cover the cost of our cruise so we would not lose that money for missing it?

  6. Book a hotel that is can be cancelled without penalties. The vast majority of hotels are this way.

Airfare is a different topic. We travel frequently, and only insure our cruise fare. But if you are seriously concerned about the possibility of canceling, then perhaps insurance would be a good idea.

Oh we flying in the morning of the cruise and once the cruise is over we have a time share at Disney so not gonna go hotel route for anything . As for the flight we will get insurance for sure . We don’t plan to cancel but who who knows what can happen in life in 6 months

  7. Some deposits are refundable if you cancel before the final payment date. Some are not; you will need to check with the cruise line or your travel agent for this.

You can take as many bags as you want on the cruise, but of course on the plane is a different story. We usually have one 24" bag each and sometimes one carry on as well as our personal items. We usually sail for two weeks or more though. We can and have sailed with carry on only, but would rather not.

We pack all valuables and anything we will need for the first day or afternoon in our carry-on. If the cabins aren't ready yet then you do have to bring take it with you until they are ready.

Passports are enough but I'd bring a driver's license as well. Some ports say you should bring one ashore. I've never had it checked, but.....

Other things to have along, besides valuables, are your cruise ticket (you can get on without it, but it's easier if you have it), and any air, hotel, insurance and tour information. Bring enough cash for anything you are planning on doing ashore or buying. We like to bring a good cushion of cash for the unforseeable. Credit cards also work in most places, but some tour operators want cash. Not needed if you are doing ship tours. Also some cash for tipping on shore for tours, etc.

    Air and hotel insurance?

  8. If you cancel before final payment, you are done. Not sure about Carnival, but you might get your $100 back.

You need either a passport OR a drivers license along with a government issued birth certificate ( not the one the hospital issues)

No limits on luggage, so two bags per person is not an issue. Big bags need to be checked with porters for delivery to your cabin. Carryons are ok, but must fit thru airport sized scanners.

Wait if I have a passport I STILL need my birth certificate also?

And we will have some bags that are not carry on do we get to wait while we check them on the boat? I am assuming porters are on the boat?

I also forgot to ask if we depart at 4 how early can we board?

  9. Hey All

Long story short we are taking a cruise on Carnival in Feb out of Orlando. (Port Carn) Its asking us to put down like $100 just about now and pay rest by December. If we needed to cancel before that Dec date would we still need to pay the difference or would we just lose the 100?

Also is there anywhere I can find a link with a breakdown of what I need with us like our passports, etc.. Is there any bag limits, etc... First time ever going on a cruise so very new to this but we doing a trip that is half a cruise other half at Disney so we will have more then one bag per person and such.

  10. Hi

They haven't suggested that they would be interested at all in the "party" atmosphere. In fact I would say more the opposite.

For KKB... What Jimlab has said is that the cabin they were looking at was $850 for the two of them. I took a look at the prices and I see what you mean. If they are just getting an interior cabin it should be under $650. I don't know if they are aware of this.

Actually we are looking at the interior now to save a little. Honestly I have heard everything people have said but we are not rich and we get one trip maybe every 5 years and we want to do both the cruise and Disney and only have 11 days to do it plus the dates match up. And I am listening but to think every cruise would have trouble on it to me is that truly the case? If we are not by the pool unless its at night for the movie thing will people really bother us? Do I have to worry about my safety when I try and eat or just walk around the boat? Cause as long as we are safe that is what I care about. Also is February that big of a party time of year on cruises?

Besides that I wanted to ask. Is room service free food? Whats the deal with that? And has anyone watched the night time movie?

Also to add one more thing. IF we did consider a longer cruise out of New York since we live close to Manhattan would a longer cruise really be that much less rowdy?

  11. My wife and I agree that if we were in your situation, we would find another way to celebrate our honeymoon and wait until we could take a longer cruise. 7 nights is the minimum for us, and 10 to 14 days is the perfect length. And then we almost always stay a few days pre and/or post cruise in the start and finish ports. By adding time to explore on your own before and/or after the cruise, you can experience a very nice vacation with only one trip from home.

3 night cruises won't give you the best experience of a cruise, with a very different demographic on those short cruises which are popular with people on very tight budgets, or people who just want to spend three days as drunk as they can get.

Do yourself a favor and wait to celebrate your first anniversary on a longer cruise. You will have a much better time.

I hear what a few of you have said but can it really be that bad? I mean we will not be going into any dance clubs or the casino, or the bars so will we really have to deal with that many drunk people issues?

This is out first cruise but we are also on a budget people and we spending 6 days at Disney hence why the shorter cruise as well.

  12. A 3 "day" cruise, is 3 NIGHTS.

So you board on Day 1. Sail the next two days, then the last day, you will be in port early, and off the ship.

So really it is 2 DAYS.

Just be aware of what you will be getting.

For a bit more, you can probably get a 5 night cruise, which is more time to enjoy the experience. And honeymoon, versus rushing around.

Yeah only issue is we need to leave out on the 7th of Feb and the only things going out that day from Orlando are 3 day cruises so that's what we must do

  13. You might decide to buy some of the photos that the ship's photographer takes of you. Those can be pricey.

Any shopping you do on board ship in the gift shops.

And if you take any ship (or private) excursions at your ports of call.

Gotcha but if you just walk around the ports and see the sites there is no charge for that correct?

And how pricey are the pics?

  14. Hello All

Ok so my fiancé and I want to go on a short cruise for our honey moon and had a few questions.

I see that several places offer 3 day cruises. We will be leaving out of Orlando and going back to Orlando. While we have not decided what cruise ship to use yet we have some very basic questions

For two of us in a standard room we are looking at $850 with tax.

I saw that a lot of places on the ships for food that it is included. And it lists the ones that are not. So is it safe to say we can eat all our meals for free? Drinks that are not acoholic as well?

I guess what we are trying to figure out since only part of our honeymoon will be the cruise. If we eat our breakfast lunch and dinner at the free places (even saw most have a free buffet). And see the shows that are no extra charge. What type of other things would we need to bring money for or should we expect to spend on since we wont drink adult beverages and we have no plans to gamble?

    Thanks in advance.

    Jim
