  1. I've never done an Alaska Cruise.  I'll be busy in 2021, so I figure I should book for 2022.

I also figure that once the pandemic is over, demand will skyrocket for cruises and anything else travel related.  So I'd like to lock-in now.

I see that Carnival and NCL already have their Alaska Itineraries for 2022.  But does anyone know when Royal Caribbean will post their itineraries for Alaska 2022?

By now many have rebooked their cruises and found out that they don’t get %125 of the total they paid.  They subtract out all the port fees and taxes as well as prepaid items and refund that part to you.  The remaining amount (basically the cost of the room before taxes) then is multiplied by 1.25 and that is the credit you get.  That is then applied to your next booking including the taxes and port fees for the new cruise.  So you don’t end up with quite as much OBC as you first thought.  I’m not complaining, just explaining.

Many have rebooked?  Really?  I called right after I heard of the cancellation. I told them exactly what cruise I wanted to be rebooked on, but I still don't see that I've been booked.

Guess I'll have to call them again....

If you select the 125% option, it's applied directly to another cruise. You have to book it at the time you contact DCL to let them know which option you are taking.

If you don't want to apply it to a cruise at the time of cancellation, you only get 100% future cruise credit that you apply at a later date.  I believe there's a time limit you must use that future cruise credit.

Well, I talked to them on Saturday, 3/14/20, in the morning, and told them exactly what cruise I wanted to be on, yet I still don't see that they've actually booked me.  They told me I had "priority" booking.... Whatever that means, as anyone can book the cabin I want right now, while I have to wait for them (maybe it means "last" priority).

So I figure I'll have well over $1,000 in cruise credit left over.  I'm hoping I can use some of that OBC to book another cruise while on the ship.... Assuming they actually book me....

  4. So my March 25th cruise was cancelled by Disney.  I'm taking the 125% credit.

So I figured they'd just give me the credit, and then allow me to go out an book whatever I wanted.

But when I called Disney they said that they are doing the re-bookings on their end if the credit is taken.  So, they cancelled the hold I had on the cruise I wanted.  They stated they would try to book me on the cruise I wanted and that they would get back to me.

Are others having the same experience?

i got my price reduction from the online form, was sent back to me confirmed in like 20 minutes

Huh? Where can I find this online form?

I have a sailing for June.  The prices just dropped by about $150/person, so it'd be nice to get that new price without being on hold for hours.

    Thanks!

The ship was no doubt beautiful. The updated and modern materials were excellent. The bars and venues all looked great.

Not sure if it was mentioned earlier but the AC system appears to be an issue. Even comics made fun on the problem.

Our service at poolside and at dining was excellent. One breakfast in the dining room was slow though with about 30 minutes to receive food.

Was disappointed the dining room menu is the same ol same ol. Bummer. Was hoping they would have updated it.

We thought the rock show was much better than the "Broadway" show. The Broadway show was just all over the place and costumes were odd. My wife, who is usually pretty mum about such things said they looked like dancing Walking Dead zombies.

Food throughout the ship we thought was great. Was nice to get a salad in Serentity and Guys smokehouse was good.

Wife waited an hour for skyride. The ropes course was easy to just walk on to and you can go around as many times as you'd like.

Warming, if you are on decks 1 or 2, beware of the crew nightclub that is just below 1. Lots of people complaining about their rooms shaking from music as late at 2:30am.

    Great cruise though.

I thought the ropes course was very scary!l

Yeah, the AC was my biggest complaint about the whole trip.  On day 1 and day 2 the Limelight lounge was stuffy or hot and stuffy.  Same with the Horizon main dining room.  My next complaint was the spa people, but that's another story.

Over all I had a blast.  Wish I could have done the back 2 back cruise like almost the rest of the ship....

  7. I'm booked for Panorama's inaugural cruise in December of 2019.  It shows Faster To the Fun in the excursion's section of the website, but it also shows as "sold-out."  It shows the price at $39.99 for the 3 day cruise.

Not sure if anyone was actually able to purchase it, I certainly wasn't.

I'm also booked for a 4-day cruise on the Imagination for June of 2020.  I do not yet have the option of purchasing Faster to the Fun.

I did back to back cruises from Long Beach this past April on the Inspiration and Splendor, and both times the doors were opened at 10:30. I am only speaking about Long Beach. 😎

For the Carnival Splendor in Long Beach, did they let anyone on the ship as they came-in, or where they strict about the check-in appointments?

  9. So back in January of 2019 I booked the spa for 12pm for the Carnival Panorama on embarkation day (Long Beach port).  Also booked salon service for 1pm.  I checked-in for the Panorama as early as I could on the 90th day prior to the cruise.  The earliest time I was able to get was for 12 - 12:30 pm.  So this creates a problem: How can we be at the Salon and checking-in at the exact same time at 12pm?

So I called Carnival.  I was told that they cannot give us an earlier check-in time. The lady advised that we should just arrive earlier than 12pm, and that they will allow us to check-in early.  Reading through other people's comments, I'm seeing that often times Carnival does not allow people to check-in earlier than their scheduled time.  So I'm wondering if what the Carnival representative told me is even true.

So, I guess I have two questions:

    1. Are the people at Carnival ever useful when calling the "800" number?

    2. How to solve this being at 2 places at once problem....

I suppose some may say that I should just reschedule the spa service.  But whatever happened to the "customer is always right"? Why should I have to change our schedule?

Why would 2 people want to pay 150% each just to get 2 rooms when they could save money by just getting one room. Seems crazy to me?

Speaking for myself, I can see a scenario wherein my wife doesn't want to go on a cruise (she's not big on cruising), but my daughter would want to go.  I would want a separate cabin from the daughter.  So in that instance, 2 solo cabins might make sense....

  11. Ok..

So I'm booked for Carnival Panorama's inaugural cruise.  According to the FAQs, booking for specialty dining was to begin on 8/1/19.  Well.... the system certainly wouldn't allow me to book anything on 8/1/19.  I called Carnival, and of course, they had didn't even have a clue on what the Chef's Table was.  The lady said she would send me an Email....I'll give you 3 guesses on whether she actually sent me that Email.

Finally, on or about August 5th, the specialty dining option become available on the website.  So I requested the Chef's Table and the steakhouse.  On August 7th, I get an Email from the Carnival Horizon's Matre D, stating that the Chef's table is reserved for the Carnival Panorama.  However, I have yet to hear back about the steakhouse.

Has anyone else tried booking specialty dining for the Carnival Panorama?
